the night of that final the forms for the following season were out. .i remember pat mcgarry was dropped because he wouldnt sign a form for pike that night.he eventually signed for carew park

There was an objection in that year to a 1B Cup semi between Prospect and Bruff. The appeal ran for weeks and went to the MFA and maybe the FAI. The Lawson Final is (or at least was) always the last game of the season and couldn't be played until after the 1B final. The 1B final was eventually played on the last weekend in June, 4/5 weeks after all the other games had finished and the Lawson was played the week after.
Park won 3-1 ,
think it was the following year that just fought off relegation (players lost interest with one season practically running into the next), then lost players and relegated them selves.....
still no matter what the issues are a season that lasted 11/12 mts is crazy.......
exactly. the way limerick soccer is been run is a complete joke a bunch of old farts who would not know if a ball is pumped or stuffed. they are so biased its frightening the board have id say 4 or 5 members formly of one club in the town winning vote everytime if needed.
cowboys certin clubs will get special treatment in this town over it
Its not just the LDMC that are a joke, the league has turned into a farce over the last couple of weeks,Corbally collected 12 pts in their 1st 16 league games, then suddenly they pick up 13 pts from their last 5 games, now thats not corballys fault and good luck to them but certain teams have left themselves down badly over the last few weeks.Regional got to an FAI semi final and are the only team to beat pike in the league to date, yet in their last 4 league games they lost to corbally carew kilmallock and mungret all of whom were in the relagation battle. For this to happen in the premier league is ridiculous
In the limerick chronicle today it said pike are playing carrick in the munster junior saturday the 29th at half 7,meaning their final league game against wembley the following day will have to be rescheduled, meaning wembley could be releagated next time they play
Rumour has it that Star have a new management team of Jeff Joyce,Alan Morton and Brian O'Doherty for the next premier campaign?? Anyone confirm or deny?
they might be old but in fairness they put a lot of time and effort in for very little thanks, if someone young and enthuasiastic comes along im sure they'll be voted in, i think abbeyvale and shannonman would be very good choice when he hangs up boots, goin on the time and effort they put in on this
A lot of the gripe people seem to have is when one club appears to get looked after more, like a club with one of they're members on the LDMC. So how would you address that?
How does a person get on to the committee? And have how many new people get voted in every year? Or has it been the same people involved the last number of years?
I do agree they put alot of work in but they could do with some new idea's, maybe all clubs could sit down and have a meeting with them, put some idea's out and get across whats working, and whats not working and needs to be changed.
i agree totally with you regarding regional passandmove.they have totally left themselves down in recent weeks.they have lost 5 or 6 games of late and janesboro and aisling have been the same albeit not as many losses.cant remember the last time any of the 3 teams i mentioned won a game.has to be down to lack of interest as they are bad sides.this is happening every year.with regards to corbally and kilmallock i maintain your being a bit harsh.both them teams have benefitted by getting players back (kilmaaloock with GAA) and corbally (with lads fit again).both them teams have picked up most there points from teams around them in recent weeks at least half id say and are always sticky to play at home.
in saying that tho something needs to be done to rejuvenate the league.im not having a pop at the likes of janesboro, aisling and regional as they can only look after themselves but its a shame to see any team losing 3 or 4 games on the bounce when there capable of much better.does anybody think doing something like playing the tuohy cup over a long weekend in jackman or u.l on a seeded basis from your league position would makes things a bit more interesting?would be good for fans etc and make a ggod weekend out of it.?something has to be done to stop teams just turning up from the first week in march
top four teams playoff system end of season a little trophy is the fastest and easiest way to stop it.......
tonight
fairview v carew park 6:30
nightmare midweek games down around 4 or 5 first team players due to work i susppose alot of teams in the same boat :(
"has to be down to lack of interest as they are bad sides" ?
fairview 1 carew park 1
the points keeps carew safe but gutted did not win the game and get the 3pts fairview scored 7MINS INTO INJURY to level the game. carew opened the scoring through a well worked goal finished off by skinner mcCormack.
carew played some outstanding football and the defenece was excellent up until the last kick of the game carew had 3 or 4 clear chances on the break to wrap up the game and missed them should of been out of sight. view levelled from a great header from jon grant at the end.
pike 7 regional 0.another premier league for the hoops, fair play to them and hopefully they will win the mj and lawson.its an awful pity the what happened with the fai because i think they would have went on and won the whole lot, because they are by far the best team in the country at the moment and i dont think any football minded person would disagree.best of luck to fairview in the fai.

Could have been worse if the Regional keeper was sent off, good decision by the Ref to let the game play and Barry score. I'm hopeful it's a different story Sunday when it's the Lawson semi final. Regional were missing a few tonight also, young enough side lined out. A very nice goal from Donovan? from a free kick, left the keeper standing with a fine finish.
Congratulations to Pike Rovers on retaining the Premier League crown.
What the he'll are you talking about, there is nobody saying nothing about the ex loi players view signed it's all pike.why are ye so fascinated with pike.more power to them and long may it continue and keep the likes of you whinging on this site because only for pile ye would have nothing to say.
The referee lastnight was as bad as i have seen, ive come across this guy before and he is completely clueless. Not that the result would have been different but in the way he explained certain decisions. He didnt seem to have a grasp of even some of the most basic rules. Now i know its a hard job blah blah blah....... but for example there was a hand ball incident , and when queried he explained that its only a hand ball if its deliberate! After a foul I was told that if i commited 2 more fouls I would get a yellow ( cos 4 fouls equals a yellow you see )
Anyway rant over, congrats to Pike as the table never lies.
Can someone confirm the exact date and time of the last games?
Well done Pike on winning the league
well done pike on another premier league title, could'nt do it last night as i was still serving my ban fro 12th man for the debacle of the fai.anyway thats done now.congrats to carew pk on getting the point they needed as well.now thom.best of luck to kilmallock on their final game ,with all the tribulations club have to put up with down there ie(hurling) they deserve to stay up.there is only a few pikeys left on the site now as 12th has them all banned so go handy.cmon the hoops.......
I see you're back.there are a lot of rules in that book that referees don't carry out either, not having a dig now but I can understands maestros frustration.ie the taking of a quick free kick which is allowed in rule book is not been carried through by most refs as they are not able to keep up with play.would you not agree?
