Ahh. I told Poor Student about the fancy* new jacks, he wasn't best pleased when he got back to the terrace!
*It's a bad sign for the league when proper urinals are considered fancy but there you go.

George Michael?
The seats in Oriel are horrible... They look great yeah but they're far too low... The underside of the seat actually caught the back of my leg first time I sat down... Would be pretty uncomfortable if it was packed there... Anyone with long legs will be chewing on their knees...
Point taken, but hard to resist seeing how the numbers from St Pats were so disappointing.
The new seats fitted are full spec and are a significant improvement on spectator comfort right around the ground. The point that Doomofman makes is actually more related to the tiered terracing that they are set on. It would be ideal if this terrace was re-developed and this bigger job may be undertaken in the future.
Only 200 away fans attending the tie-of-round 80km from home explains why this may be down the list of priorities
Carlow 1-1 Monaghan; Carlow led for a good while before Karl Bermingham equalised late ish.
Glenville 1-7 Bohs. Glenville had pulled back to 2-1 just before the break.
Carlow's is just like Wembley Stadium and Glenville's is just like Richmond Park!
Depends on who we get, if its a Welsh or NI team, (assuming these will take the biggest away support) it will be retained as an away section. If anyone else/small uptake of away support demand, I think it will be used for home fans.
Seating going into the shed side from tomorrow.
Must...resist...temptation to infract...
:p
Interesting forum about football stadium developments in the north. Looks like there seems to be more activity going on there. Donegal Celtics ground looks tidy as does Portadowns. Any chance clubs here could get the finger out and start funding new developments.

Newry City have recently added a new stand(riddiculous for a club with an average attendance of 150) and as you say lots of grounds in the Irish leauge have upgraded of late.
From what i know there is/was a lot more funding available in NI and a lot of it through the peace funding programmes.Im told though that Newry City FC have a rich benefactor, much the same as SP Franchise so expect both to go belly up soon
What happened there EAFC_rdfl??
not sure, part of the stadium was on fire anyway
Just went up and had a look. No damage done up top to any of the seats. A fair bit of concrete has chipped away underneath though.
Just brings a much needed taste of Saint Mel's to the place! :D
Seats in the shed nearly complete:

around 800.
Seats will be put in the covered and un covered area of the shed.
So is there no more standing room at Oriel Park? Are there not people who will miss it or are a bit peeved about this? (Not saying its a backwards move, it is what you have to do).
Seats going all along the shed side of the ground, looks small in this photo, but this is almost one entire lenght of the ground.
Looks to be 5 rows in total.
Updated photos.

Photo of Oriel Park (2005) from one of the lads on the Dlk forum. Look at the state of the stand compared to the photos posted earlier. New roof, new panels, all painted not to mention the new seating. The old shed was demolished, and new pitch yet to be layed. What a mess that season was, as it took until Sept for us to play a home game.
looks great oriel well done to all , in the second photo the front row of seats look lower than the fence around the pitch
Aye they are.
New seats have started going in at Hunky Dorys Park apparently. This must have something to do with it.
