What I have seen there is one or two nice players coming up but not enough to compete with what Celtic are producing at the same time (better U-14 team). But Youths are doing the right things and I hope they will get a another group of quality players that their efforts deserve. But dont see it at the moment. Have a decent U-12 team at the moment but well behind Celtic at present.Quote:

The otherside of that coin is that not every coach with Kickstarts etc can coach at underage either. It takes more than a folder gained over a weekend to be able to do it successfully.
While not knowing about the Westport situation, I fully agree that coaches only interested in coaching their kids' teams should be strongly discouraged. It helps no one from my experience.

It is a trend for parents to specifically get involved with teams that have their children playing. This is a common situation in many clubs.Quote:

You dont have to play competitively to know the game, sometimes its an advantage. Many great managers had limited involvement with the game on a playing level, Mourihno, Wenger, Eriksson, to name a few.Quote:

I can read, they played very limited football, there are plenty of great players who did not have success at management( ie Phil Neal, Lothar Mattaeus, Bobby Charlton).Quote:

As for managers involved in football that never kicked a ball in their lives? There are lots of them. Clubs are crying out for volunteers and there are coaching courses on a regular basis. The Kick Start One course encourages parents and teachers that never played football, but give a hand, to do these courses and get more proactively involved in the game.
