A vacuum of information like we have leads to lads making up sh1t and trying to pass it off like they are in the know. If the FAI do manage to get Carsley over the line we might actually have to start respecting how they are going about their business. Its so hard to believe that none of the journalists on the Irish beat have any inside info. Canham and Hill being outsiders to Irish football does lead to that I supposed, but even so its very impressive how nothing is coming from the FA side either.

Yeah, I'm starting to worry they have failed with Carsley and don't have a plan b. At least they don't seem to be racing to appoint Lennon or someone of that ilk.
It's certainly a possibility - that Carsley has said no, they've got a sense of the public push back against Lennon and they're having to go looking for a new name, or at least hanging on a while longer before having to resort to giving the job to the Lurgan Flop.

The worry now is the network. The only names that have been in contention for the past few iterations have been very connected to the FAI already. All former players, or merry-go-round UK-based managers. There hasn't been a single candidate mentioned who would lead me to believe the FAI have looked outside of the existing rolodex.
With our budget we should have at least tried to find a few reasonably unknown managers at early stages in their career who might want a challenge and a bigger stage. Going through ECL level managers, the A-league etc etc. They might not have gotten way with an unknown but they are now likely left with the devils we know all too well. I know the FAI is strapped in terms of resources on all fronts but.....they will probably now sink just as much time into trying to get Carsley by any means necessary.
From an FAI source, Carsley is still Plan A. Lennon is Plan B. Plan A has not run it's course yet.Quote:
