predictions for the weekends games are newmarket win and 4 draws, lifford havent been in 1 all season so it might just happen.........lifford v bridge utd tonight in lees road MJC clare area semis,..reckon lifford are gonna score a bag full once they get inferior opposition on a half decent pitch! congats to rineanna on getting to the final and think it will go all the way......if i was a gambler den i d bet on penaltys again wit lifford shading it. last league game of the premier on sunday and think that bunratty will win the league.......best of luck to all sides playing for survival and league honours
I heard that the leagues (schoolboy and CL) have joined forces and are paying a green keeper to get the pitch back to it's former glory and beyond.
Tis about time. When that pitch opened in 2000 (i think) it was top class and it went down hill after that.
I have heard it will be ready for the cup final. That is the rumor flying about. Newmarkets first pitch (nearest the road) is in top condition. They have done mighty work there and it is well worthy of the final if the county grounds are closed.
The 4 Rineanna lads should really play the Cup Final if it comes to it, it is a bigger game than the hurlin and is probably the biggest game in Rineanna's history. If the County Final was on the same day as the 1st Round of the Clare Cup there would be no chance of them playing the soccer even if the soccer was on the day before.
Did ye see Joe's Semi-final reports in The Clare People today, in his report on the Olympic v Rineanna game he mentions the pitch in Newmarket "Despite playing against the hill in the first half" and again "...before playing up the slope in the second half". He must have got mixed up with his reports because he doesn't mention anything about the big slope in Cassidy Park and there's no hill in McDonough Park
at the end of the day the players can deceide which is more important rare apperance in cup final or hurling ... already know answer as players involved big gaa heads so unfortunatly probaly chose the gaa over cup final ... as for report in clare people about sums up coverage of local soccer  its been a long time since us older lads remember playing up newmarkets famous hill :D
ok guys here is my problem with the clare League fixture, Lifford and Newmarket Quarter final was played at 4.30 because of munster rugby match the other quarter final on that day was played at 10.30, Munster game was at 1pm, I'd like to see a final with both squads having a full panel to chose from, the G.A.A won't change anything and why would they. The Cup finals of recent years have been played on Friday and saturday evenings and Saturday during the day and I think they played one at 6pm on a sunday evening. I'd hate to see a conflict for players, hope common sense prevails and we have a great cup final
Newmarket have a brilliant setup at McDonagh Park and it's a credit to everyone in the club, the 1st pitch, that was fenced off, looked a picture, but there is a definate slope on the 2nd pitch.
Speaking to players after the semi-final on sunday, many of them remarked how difficult it was playing up the hill and how much easier it was to play with the slope. Just look at how many more corners were taken from the bottom of the hill...
As for Cassidy Park, there is a slight incline from right to left but it has no influence on a game as there is no advantage gained.
my problem is they will change regular times -for games on tv. So why can't they change for local games
nice to see liiford boys ruling out a league playoff had a feeling they be lying down anyway http://foot.ie/forums/images/icons/icon4.gif
cup final will have an attendance of what? 200 --500 people depending on who is in it
gaa county final,, 5000 - 9000 depending on who is in it
as for lifford lying down next sunday, i doubt they will not with mick kennedy over them
only thing is they are not good enough to beat bunratty so it doesnt really matter.
avenue/moher will be tough.if avenue come away with a win it will make a few clubs happy not to have that long drive back there again,
and with the gaa/soccer debate will moher have a conflict with football games at the weekend?
