Wilton 1 Fermoy 3
Fermoy took all three points last sunday morning from the city. Beautiful morning for football with a pitch in good condition after all the rain over the week.
The first half was an even affair with one or two chances each, but both teams were poor in the final third. Kurt Wheeler had the best chance as he was slipped in from midfield but his left foot shot was straight at the keeper.
The second half was more entertaining for the onlookers. Fermoy started brightly with three goals in the first ten minutes of the half. A great ball from the right full was glanced to the far post by the McNulty and the keeper spilled the ball into the net. Not sure was Wilton's keeper in fact a regular keeper as it showed in the first goal. The away side doubled there lead soon after. Scotty was put threw and his shot came off the post and rebounded in off the defender unfortunately for the home side. Third goal was a great finish from Wheeler. Kurt spotted the keeper way off his line and lobbed the ball in over him. Both teams make some changes mid way threw the second half due to injuries and fatigue. Wilton where the better for the last twenty mins in a more open game. The home sides striker dropped back into centre midfield and he seemed to create a lot of chances for them. Mick Devine pulled off at least three fine saves for the away side as he was being called into action a lot more. Eventually Wilton got the goal they deserved with all the pressure they had Fermoy under. A poor clearance from Ryan Conway fell to the young right winger who came on. He breezed past the left back then side stepped the centre back and poked the ball home nicely.
