but would they really struggle to the likes of dromore, pike B, lish or a Shannon hibs B team? If that's the standard of the Clare premier then both Clare and Limerick leagues are lightyears apart!

Melon, have to say you live in cuckoo land. No Clare team would survive in the Limerick premier and only two would survive 1A
have to disagree with melon, lifford and tulla are by no stretch of the imagination ''quality sides''.... they would both struggle to compete in 1A in limerick as would mountshannon and corofin.
that is complete nonsense. avenue and newmarket would stay in the limerick premier very comfortably and would be in the top 5/6 certainly at worst and its hard to imagine ennis town not bein ok in it either probably along with the bridge. ''only two would survive 1A'' ??? ridiculously stupid comment
Lets get on with improving soccer in Clare rather than bothering about what teams would or wouldn't do well in limerick .
Never said anything about clare teams competing in the prem. I just don't think lifford/Tulla would be as bad as dromore/pike b or lish! Been awhile since I seen them so maybe I am wrong. Back to my cuckoos nest.
Let b teams and c teams progress to premier division if they can progress through their own divisions.this would increase the competition
This would increase competition within the clubs and more to play for in the lower divisions.
This would be a bad idea. You would find clubs splintering and strokes being pulled. B and C teams should always remain below the division that the A side play. They should be used to bring younger players through to the A squad.
As for the whole Limerick/Clare debate it is pointless. A bad day for Newmarket shouldn't demish the evident improvement in our league. There are many factors to getting a result in major competitions and they all need to click. Going by the logic of some here the Cork and Kerry leagues are a very poor standard. This is not true. Let's concentrate on progressing the standards of our own league and stop comparing it to a few "investment" clubs in Limerick.
Not comparing league with top Lim teams.I do wonder how many games in both leagues people who post here actually see. Was at the most recent NOF v Avenue game and the standard was mid table 1A. The way forward for the Clare league is to stop organising fixtures around Gaa and move heaven and earth to get both Shannon teams back.
I for one would like to see the Shannon sides back in Clare but wouldn't go moving heaven and earth to make it happen. let them come back and work their way through the leagues like every other club has to. Rineanna are the case in point here.
As for the comparison of the 2 best sides in Clare to mid table 1A on the strength of one game tells me you need to see more games.
I dunno why people have an obsession with the shannon clubs. Olympic have yo-yoed up and down from premier to first. From the Limerick 1A forum things dont seem to be good in shannon. Hibs are fighting for their lives n town are mid table. I rem the good auld days of newtown but these are long gone.
Think this is the fairest way but tbh I can't see either Shannon team switching leagues to be put into the bottom of Clare football, as for the obsession with shannon teams, people talking about top clare sides not handling 1a I think it's relevant that hibs/town are giving a mention
I presume it was the munster junior 4th rd game that you are speaking of. To be fair the standard of that game wasnt the best for 1 reason or another but you shouldnt base your assumption on just 1 game. I think its fair to say that both clubs mentioned above usually produce a better quality of football. I have also gone and seen many games in limerick between some of the better sides and on those days would be left wondering what all the fuss is about but wouldnt state that our teams would beat those teams on the basis of me just seeing that 1 game . Our league is progressing but still lots of impovement needed before clubs are competing regularly at latter stages of the big competitions. This year can be used as a breakthrough year in the sense that Avenue reached a champions cup final, newmarket munster semi final and Clare reaching Oscar traynor final(hopefully we can win it)
Both Shannon clubs should go straight into the premier. And imo anyone who disagrees doesn't really care about improving the quality of the league
Can't think of anything constructive to say about that ridicules comment so won't bother
