I think we'd need to get 2 off the pay roll to be able to bring anyone in. You'd imagine campion will leave, we definitely don't need another right back so maybe John kavanagh could leave also.

Is Michael O'Connor still moving to Rotherham? Or have Burnley come back in for him?
How do Rovers fans feel about the possibility of signing Anthony Stokes?

Free-Agent Anthony Stokes Could Be Set For A Return To Dublin
If he shows up he will score goals for whoever he plays for . I'd be happy enough but can't see it happening if he was going to sign surely it would have been on July 1st play against cork and in Europe league.
Craig Walsh signing for Longford after bray fiasco
According to Harps forum M O Connor is currently in England presume with Rotherham and C O Connor is linked with Drogs and Cliftonville
Spurs have bid 200k for Bazunu with the deal to go through after his LC according to the Irish Independent. Should be rejected in my opinion.
Bloody right it should be rejected. They'd want to be offering at least double that imo for Rovers to even consider it. Irish clubs have been getting rode for long enough when it comes to transfer fees.
But for all parties concerned i think the best thing is for that lad to play with Rovers and finish school before he goes anywhere.
I've seen online that he's contracted until the end of 2020. It's a pity they haven't him tied down to anything longer to increase the transfer price. If they've known how good he is for the last year or so you'd think they would have offered him a longer deal.
He has 2.5 years left on his contract if the 2020 thing is correct, how long of a contract do you realistically think he would have signed when he was 14 or 15 ?
Rovers have done well to have him on that long a contract imo.
Regards the paper you wouldn't know what to believe there has been no end of speculation over the last month or so.
I'd agree that 200k isn't enough but at the same time what is enough? 400K ? he is a 16 year old that has great potential but any English team of the calibre of Spurs signing him are signing a prospect not a guy they see going into their first team.
At least if he is going over it will be on a decent contract and not to play in one of the academies for €150 a week like most of the 15 and 16 year olds who go over.
His parents have made it clear he's finishing school at least before he goes anywhere so as far as I'm concerned unless there's an absolutely ridiculous offer before then they should all be rejected because his value can only really rise before then.
Aren't shams paying his school fees up to LC ? Great prospect but always a chance he wont develop into the finished article so shams need to make a call to ensure they maximize the money they get for him. While I'm sure the club will be concerned for his personal development that's for his parents to sort out not shams.
Actually isn't that more than likely ? it is a business and if shams got a 'ridiculous offer' (whatever that is) why would they not look to do business ? Not suggesting they would not have the lads best interest in mind but doubt they would turn down a massive amount of money. Its just good business.
That's certainly the inference of what RH has suggested.
Equally if what RH has said about his parents insisting he finishes school next year is true, then no matter how "absolutely ridiculous" the offer, Rovers obviously could not transfer him without his agreement - unless of course they could persuade him and his parents otherwise
Not a chance of him being pressured to go , everything the club are preaching day in day out in the academy is that the path to success in England is staying here doing your leaving and going over as a pro on a decent contract , not getting shipped off by joeys or Kevin's to an English academy for buttons.
That's not at all what I'm saying. I'm saying accept the offer but since his parents are insistent on him staying any offer would obviously be a case of the actual move happening after his LC as has been the case so far.
I'd appreciate it if you stopped putting words in my mouth Ez
I think his parents are spot on about him staying and doing his leaving cert, its not like if he is signed by spurs he is going into the first team.
see that Craig Walsh is back with Crumlin Utd after his short spells with Bray and us. pity his stay with us didnt work out as I believe he was great in Ballybofey.
So looks like Bazunu will be off to join man City in January - Rovers getting a fee of €350k.
Sad to see him leave so young. I would rather he completed 40-50 games at senior level before moving abroad. Ideally he could sign for them and them be loaned back for 18-24 months. He'll probably just be another number swallowed up by the massive City academy now.
Still too small a fee in my opinion too. I would have held out for closer to half a mill. Given his potential i really think he's worth that much.
He must be a real headstrong chap - not only defying his parents, but going against the wishes of the Shamrock Rovers academy as well.
Maybe he could take his books with him and come home to sit his leaving cert in June?
Lol as usual. Great the way de papers are never wrong
Bit of an indictment of Shiels' talent spotting prowess.
