And the Cobh v Wexford attendance, I heard the seating was sold out, approx. 1,000 so anyone know the official figure?
No attendances given this weekend for Shels v UCD, Dundalk v Bohs, Sligo v Drogheda, or Cobh v Wexford
2,047 given for Sligo/Drogheda in the Examiner….
Yes, in 2011 Athlone received a donation of €500,000 to clear outstanding debts since their move to Lissywollen in 2007. Rumoured to be a local person who was a previous 2m lottery winner. There is an RTE report but does not provide much detail other than the above. ?
It seems it was debatable whether it was a donation or a loan and whether it gained ownership. Court case going on for a few years with current club 'owners' and the man who gave money. Case deciced in favour of club but still possibly going on with appeal after appeal with accusations of all sorts ??? Case searchable on courts.ie
Hope it doesn't cause hassle for the club down the line with future developments! Did'nt the club put some proposed plan for development forward recently? ?
We won the First Division in Lissywoolen in 2009. I think that might have been their first season there? Was in St Mel's in 2004. It was... traditional even then
I was in college in Athlone around 08/09 and they were definitely in Lissywollen then. I think they moved around 2006 or 07. Harps definitely played games in 2007 there anyway as it was my first time in the stadium there when we were promoted that season.
Last season in Mel's was 2006.
