Yes, in 2011 Athlone received a donation of €500,000 to clear outstanding debts since their move to Lissywollen in 2007. Rumoured to be a local person who was a previous 2m lottery winner. There is an RTE report but does not provide much detail other than the above. ?Quote:

I was in college in Athlone around 08/09 and they were definitely in Lissywollen then. I think they moved around 2006 or 07. Harps definitely played games in 2007 there anyway as it was my first time in the stadium there when we were promoted that season.
