582 At Athlone V Mervue
Have to say Athlone are seriously building up their crowds and making a strong push for promotion too obviously helping, Would imagine most of that would be home support too. Get a good run going a maybe they can get the floating fans back too. I'd like to see them back in the PD. Always a good football town.
Thought I heard 1214 being called out in Tolka. Looked like about half that.
It's great. Definetely more fans coming every week as we had 600 v Longford and there was 50-100 Longford fans.
We have won 3 in a row now and are 4 points off the top. There is a lot of people in the Town that like football but haven't been to the stadium yet. They are starting to come down now . Most of them will stop going if the **** hits the fan but a lot more are becoming interested.
Also a few wern't that bothered with Roddy at first as he brought a fair few players from out of town but results are all that matter at the end of the day and people just wanna see us in the Premier Divison and with that looking all the more likely every week people are jumping on the bandwagon.
We've also had a bit of an atmosphere at homes games lately for the first time since 2007. We've ran buses to a lot of way games too which is an improvement to the last few years where we've only had one or two away buses days a year.
How many were yous getting last time you were in the Premier?
I wouldn't have a clue. Maybe some of the older lads would remember.
We hit 1500-2000 in the first 2 home games of 2007 season in the 1st divison when the stadium opened but they were only there because of the stadium opening.
We averaged 670 that year but we had serious thoughts about going up and started well with a strong team only to have a terrible season.Since then they have dropped as the club nearly went out of business and we had a few years of transition.
I see 100 estimate given for Salthill V Town last night I'd be amazed if there was more than 50 there to be honest. There was around 30 Town fans up for the game and after that there was a handful on the farside with a few on the balcony too the rest were stewards, media etc
250 estimate at UCD with about 50 Cork City fans booing the team off
well when I were kid we used get 3-4 thouands fans at games at mels.year we lost to ucd in play off I think we were getting about 1000 at games.as for when we were last up in premier we get over 2000 for big games ie shamrock rovers and derry.can remember derry bringing over 1500 for last league game of season and they had beat athlone r even draw win league.they missed pen and lost 1-0 I think.they must rattled bar about 5 times.shuda murdered athlone dat day lol
thomond official attendance: 1,249
I reckon about 330 at Cobh ramblers v wexford, also in attendance one Roy Keane.
Not bad for limerick, they seem to have established a fanbase of 1k, so there is interest there on which to build. The cost of the stadium most take a big bite out of the gate receipts of course. I am glad that Roddy Collins has managed to bring a bit of style and winning football to Athlone and hope it continues, do the town fans think that they could reach an average of say 800 for this year?
if it keeps going like this then yes definitely

TOTAL WEEKLY ATTENDANCE: 7,261 (Minus Waterford v Harps)
OVERALL ATTENDANCE: 197,155
Pats have shockingly poor attendances. I know they'd over a couple of hundred at the Longford LSC game (with the noisy mob from Longford in force), but top of the league, playing great football and such poor attendances, it's not right.
