i didnt see the 1st half i thought the kilumney lads were unlucky they had the best of what i seen and moved the ball fantastic at times .from what i seen great advert for football in cork last min goal what a sickner.well done the 2 glen celtic teams fab wins today.
balla bossed the first half in all truth
just looked a step above kilumney until kilumney had a nice spell in second half where they got back into it with a cracking goal
from my angle it looked like he meant to cross it and it sailed into the far corner but what a strike
this gave the kilumney lads a lift and they gave a good 20 min spell but i was impressed by balla
there are some very strong junior teams out there
only my second time seeing kilumney play so im no expert on them but from the talk on here i expected much more from them
coachford for the premier i think
has anyone got odds??
a lot of goals conceded over the weekend by cork teams....outside of pearse.killumney and coachford I think its safe to say the standard is very poor....i cant remember the last time cork teams were destroyed like this
To be fair the lads all done well reaching this stage. As I said earlier a cork team wont win fai or mjc. Kanturk are a premier a team as are kilreen. So to get out of cork was very impressive but they were always going to struggle when they met top teams from Kerry + limerick. Greenwood were always going to struggle away to Michael's as well. No surprises there. Pike play coachford next round. Will see where cork aul are then. Killumney came up short today. Cork teams aren't good enough + that's the harsh truth.
killumney wer a little unlucky to be fair they play football the right way and are all good on the ball best team i seen this year in aul.if cork aul teams are going to move forward the people behind the sceans at the clubs have to be football people.coachford 2 pitches good facilities a club like killumney need at least that.
Agree with you 100%
Ive never played against a team that passed and held the ball for so long in a match than killarney did!
We cudnt get out of our half, they ripped us to shreads..
There strikers movement touch, finishing,i cudnt believe what i was seeing!
Were a estaiblish premier A as are kilreen, and greenwood are a team not many would hammer in the premier!
The pikes, carew,st micheals,st brendans, killarney, they would be up dare with the avondale, rockmonts, corientians!
I really hope coachford do well against pike, but IMO its gonna be 4,5,6 nil,and thats the harsh realaity of it all
maybe your right they should be up there with the 3 cork sides you mention ..come on its senior in disguise but it is what it is .
Your probly right as pike would be not far off avondale id say coachford could pull off a shock its all on the day no doubt their manager will do everything in his power to upset them theve good players down there .they were given no chance up in carrick last year either 7 to 1 if i remember and beat them 1 0 so u never know but as 1for said there senior standard teams in junior comps
Before i say what i have to say some of ye know me an some do not.Though I ply my trade in the MSL the Aul an all that it is has given me the majority of my best memories in football. Its where my heart will always be so I dont say this lightly but Iv seen this coming over the last 6 months .
Over the last 6 months the AUL has gone through a massive change, folding clubs is part an parcel of our game but loosing 3 Premier clubs in a season to the Msl and even Grattans recent demise hasnt happened since Castleview,Temple and Ballincollig etc left a good few year ago.It has a huge knock on effect, the clubs who normally took up the lower postions of the premier etc etc now found themselves challenging for titles, and as the Fai an Mjc gets going, certain sides find them selves all of a sudden faced with sides normally they wouldnt ever play, ever because those normaly top Cork sides were the ones who reached the open rounds for the most part with no disreaspect meant.
The Aul is a junior league,we suffer because not only do we have the MSL but we have very little in the way of junior clubs who have proper underage systems where young players come through to develope into top junior players.Down in Cork, the vast majority of promising players, will want to go senior. The facilities, pitchs set ups, gear, attitude it all sways the current players minds, loyalty is in short supply as we will all agree.Bar the odd few in the Aul who have, its more likely that clubs have not, lets be honest.
And being from an area is no longer a guarrentee that the player will play for the local club and bring the club on.With all due respect to the comments about clubs in Limerick etc being senior clubs, its a choice. They chose to play junior because to those clubs, those really stand out clubs,Pike,Ballymun and Carrick to name but a few they value the FAI junior as the absaloute be all and end all.If senior was what all teams should aspire to then we would have 26 senior leagues, but we dont we have 3 or so,would we not.
I think we have some really promising junior teams in Cork . But we have lost the run of ourselves in the last 6 months . Each year the Fai and the Mjc draw is announced, success for Cork sides 99.99% of Cork sides will regard it a massive success if the reach the open draws. The Pikes an Carricks etc etc, they are dissapointed cause the don't WIN it.Massive difference again is it not. We from time to time,an no offence Donnie do excell,Passage and Leeside have won the Mjc in the last 15 or so years if im correct and we will usually have a side in the last 16\quaters at least of the Mjc.In the FAI, Grattan were the last side who got to the quater final of the Fai,following year the last 16.Greenmount,Maymount also got to the quater finals in recent history.Kinsale consistantly reached the last 16 or near enough,an Leeside again always did well.
But they were in the context of Cork junior football, superb sides. With all due respect to current Aul sides, the best are big fish in a small barrel,in the open rounds of the Fai and Mjc our barrel gets thrown into a bigger one with sharks in it. In a nut shell lads, we may think we are playing great ball but there are sides out there out side of Cork that are frighening to play against, but every year we enter the Fai an Mjc and some get to stand toe to toe for 90 mins or more. Most of us get knocked out,but a very rare few get to upset the favourites.I tip my hat to the Cork sides who chose to be different an got to the open rounds of the Mjc an the Fai,an I hope personally that we upset a favourite somewhere this year.
iv seen a lot of good players this year so now its up to clubs.. managers..behind the sceans guys to move their clubs on i think cork aul can get to a higher standard with a little hard work .the big changes this year with 3 gone now has to bring some other clubs to the fold all 3 won the honours now killumney coachford pearce blarney st can take their place.
Brilliant post littleman spot on hopefully coachford can pull off a big shock
lets be fair here lads pearce have done very well this year.credit to them i say go watch pearce v city utd sample the day if you want some of it work hard and things will happen if not you shouldnt be in football .atmospher in coachford sat and blarney today was great any player worth his salt would love it.
Ya hard work if fine but you cant beat class on regular basis interesting report on the hall match today in mjc two of there own players scrapping and neither 1 sent off
1 for iv always enjoyed ur positive attitude in respect to all this currently Aul but il give u an example. I think Kearney has developed over the years into a very talented defender, imagine 4 of him with pace,,, Mark Nolan is for me superb, 4 of him, an ur own boy, 2 of him. Add a top class internationally capped at junior keeper, with a few Lynchs an Coackleys an Babbs on the bench,,,,,, thats whats out there waiting for ya, i want the Aul sides to get better as well but im not blinkered as to what we need to improve on. Know one outside of Cork will be nervous when there drawn home or away to a Cork Aul side now that certain sides are gone. Its a transition period, all i can hope for is we come out of it stronger eventually. Its not a dig, its just an honest assessment of where i think the Aul is in the whole scheme of things.
i agree with you but we see in 2 years where we are in aul then we can talk mjc and fai to progres im not talking winning it in 2 years but holding our own and playing the right way as for kearney hes class and babs when their playing days are over it the likes of them should be coaching the new batch their way.iv a good attiude thats me but at the end of the day its about the players and what they want .as for nolan one of the best out there and has started all the aul game so im right lol;).
As i said no cork team will beat a limerick premier team no chance to strong.
