Soccernet says 3pm. The only issue is I haven't booked anything yet and the only way I can get back for college monday morning is the saturday night 730 train to catch the overnight boat, because in their infinite wisdom, arriva trains wales first train of the day on sunday from cardiff to holyhead only arrives in at 1654, 21 minutes before the last boat, not allowing the 30 mins check in deadline, so i'd like to be extra super sure that the game is 3pm before booking anything (mind i have applied for tickets).

sky are advertising a 3pm kick off on there website also

Plus, it said 3pm on the ticket application form from the FAI.

This route should get you back into Dublin early on Sunday morning!

yeah coming back that route, but leaving during the day on friday (i hate being tired during a game and prefer to do most of my drinking before rather than after, especially given the recent form and lack of much to celebrate)

ah the atmosphere is always better before a game though, so it'll not be so bad leaving on the evening of the game. as long as you're there on friday night and for the build up, all will be good.

q: do they have beer on the trains? or should i say, will they notice if you take your own beer onto the trains?

Havin a bit of bother booking a room for the night of the Wales game. Anyone know of any Hostels/Cheap hotels out there who still have rooms available. Not looking for anything fancy just a bed and a roof.

Hi, I have flights booked for the game in Cardiff, but due to a number of different factors, I'll not be able to make it now. I was due to be flying in and out on the one day from Dublin - Bristol with Ryanair, so if anyone is interested in buying the flights off me, please PM me. I can also provide two tickets in the Irish section, so can sell the 2 flights and tickets as a package.

There are at least three of us going now, possibly 5/6/7. However hotels/ hostels seem to be at a premium. If people are going to be cancelling, would they not be better off offering their accomodation here first.

Whats the story pubs in cardiff. Heard of place called o'neills from a friend said its big enough near millenium stadium!

I have a double room going spare at the travelodge in central cardiff, right next to the ground and all the bars. I've just decided to drive instead of stay so if anyone would like the room changing into their name, let me know. its 91stg for 1 night

I was in there on Friday after the Police concert, Drink was cheap, Large Vodka Red Bull Pint and Vodka Lemonade less than a tenner seemed like a good crowd in their as well. Big shop on two floors with a dance floor on the Upper level lots of Bars and clubs around as well plus lots of young ladies walking around half naked though of course as I with the missus I was only half looking!!!

I got my form from the FAI today offering me the five tickets i was looking for. Sign of the times i suppose,wish it was this easy all the time.

Yeah, no surprise to be allocated the 3 tickets I was looking for. FAI also looking for flight and accommodation details again for this trip.

For anyone still looking for a room, I just cancelled a room in the Sandringham Hotel (beside the stadium) due to a nephew's Christening clashing with the match.

I have qualified for 3 tickets, but now can't make the fixture (honest).

Anyone know if this will effect my Block Booking?

Doubt it away games are different to block bookings for the home games. All block booking does for away tickets is give you priority if there is a shortage.

im looking at the ferry on friday (9-11am ish) and then back on sunday afternoon if possible

hello all, if anybody is interested , i have a dublin to cardiff return flight which i am sadly unable to use due to unforseen circumstances. The flight goes out friday and back sunday. Maybe someone can use this ?:)

in and out same day 35e as of tuesday afternoon

Total dive, over priced and bound to be packed on the day, also usually no way between upstairs and down stairs at the time of big events.

Price of Wales and the Gate Keeper are the two cheap place and the Walkabout is a fantastic venue for late drinking, huge area down stairs.

Caroline St (better known as Chippie Lane) will be packed too, about 7/8 chippers in a row just off St. Mary street.

For people looking for a places that a bit less packed try Cathedral Road, some very nice pubs there such as the Beverly and the Cayo, both do very decent cheap food too. About 5 mins from stadium

Was only told I was being let go over by her self this morning:o so travelling this way with Ash with the promise of a ticket (fingers crossed) from some of the Athlone lads going

One issue I have though is trying to pre book the train tickets for the journey and it keeps looking for a postcode to find my address. Where I live down here barely exists never mind having a post code:)

you don't need to book the train. sailrail. call irish rail travel centre on abbey street in dublin, or even call into your local railway station. €82 return pp. but absolutely no need to book the train.

note of caution: do not attempt to get the train out of cardiff on sunday morning, for you will categorically miss the 17:15 ferry and thus have to wait until 02:40 monday morning for the next one.

Finally managed to find a hotel room for the saturday night.....posh Spa Hotel.....essential obviously for a day and night on the lash!:D

Watford crew heading to Cardiff on the train from London (can't be a*sed to drive) hope to be in The Gatekeeper as the doors open:)

Wasn't looking forward to this trip a week ago, but time is a great healer....so is getting rid of Desperate Stan;)

I mean the sailrail ticket, which includes the ferry (foot passenger) and train, is €82 in total. You're paying £43 (approx. €64) before you've even bought your ferry ticket, the €82 covers all that. Call Irish Rail and you can get a sailrail ticket.

They'll probably wait will the WCQ draw and hope for a handy enough
group so a good chance of qualification might entice a decent manager

I can confirm kick off time will be 3pm. This information was gained as a direct result of my telephonic communication device conversation with a representative of the football association of the principality of wales.

Tickets have 3 pm printed on them anyway.

train is £54 return (unless you're staying the saturday night in cardiff, in which case it would be £42 return, cos the saturday evening trains are expensive)

bus, on the other hand, is cheapcheap, only £10 (though this is non refundable and limited to the services you define at booking time. An open day return in £20.50 and is refundable and a full return (i.e. next day return) with defined services not booked in advance is £29.50). bus is slower though and would necessitate getting up earlier on game day. Plus, of course, it is frowned upon to drink on a bus, but positively classy to drink cans on a train.
