Should President Donald J Trump get the Nobel Peace Prize for this ~ After-all Barack Obama got the Nobel Peace Prize for doing sweet fanny adams at the time !

In a completely unrelated move, Trump has also announced he's cutting all US foreign aid except to Israel and Turkey. (Not sure why Turkey TBH)
The world sits by and watches the ethnic cleansing continue...
So the Israelis today started bombing the West Bank.
But this is so perfectly normal - they're just like us after all.
Given the absolute state of Gaza and Trump's comments that the place needs to be cleared out, this could genuinely end in complete ethnic cleansing.
And no sanctions whatsoever.
Utter, utter scumbags
What did Hamas expect to happen after October 7th ~ ~ I could have told you what would happen, if Hamas or anyone els for that matter did something like October 7th !
I don't support anything that Israel does ( why would I, or any Irish person )
You can be freedom fighters / terrorists ~ ~ What you can't be, is stupid freedom fighters / stupid terrorists ! !
Well it's pretty safe to assume that they didn't expect the Israeli government to react in the way that it has. If they did then Hamas is essentially an armed doomsday cult.
In reacting the way it has though Israel lost any (or most) of the sympathy it had gained in the immediate aftermath of October 7th.
I fear the whole thing's too far gone now. It's pretty much insolvable at this point.
Israel does not care about the reactions of other countries ( bar America ) and certainly not about the reactions of people around the world.
I knew and understood this before October 7th ~ ~ Surely Hamas and Israel's other enemies would know this as well !
I don't support Israel in any way what-so-ever ~ ~ But I knew what they would do if anybody attacked them, like they were attacked on October 7th.
It may not care, but that's not without consequences in the long term.
I think in many cases people can just be too close to something to things clearly, just like being too detached from something has, or can have, the same effect. Perhaps this was the case with Hamas, but we'll probably never know at this point. There aren't many left to tell the tale.
The whole thing's just incredibly sad.
I'm sure Hamas expected and probably wanted a reaction to justify their fanatical cause, but not the killing of over 60k and almost total destruction of Gaza City. I find is ludicrous how you keep saying your not supporting Israel yet continually finding excuse for their atrocities or attempting to shift blame. Also find i bizarre how I regularly see it said (not specifically by you or here) the one of Hamas's manifesto points is the destruction of the Israeli state and this being used to justify Israel's action, yet Israel is actually doing just to the people of Palestine yet still somehow Israel is the good guy and buddy of the west
I think you should use more tildas and exclamation points.
You know, for the greater good
I spotted him too. Before tets outed him.
That ~ is visible at 100 yards in heavy fog. No point having a different username at all seanfhear :D
To be honest ~ ~ I registered there a long time ago under a different user name but forgot the details ~ ~ Re-registering now was a spur of the moment thing ~ ~ I thought I probably wouldn't even post but kinda got sucked in ( slowly ) ~ ~ Do I have to, turn myself in at a Garda Barracks now ? !
Good on you forcing the lurkers to out themselves :p
I still havent identified Razors Left Peg's handle over there... ;)
Today's news is that Trump wants the US to take over the Gaza Strip in full. Bordering countries can take in the Palestinians. There's some lovely real estate apparently - a real redevelopment opportunity. For Trump's property developer son-in-law of course.
mark12345's offence at the comparisons between Trump and Hitler seem a little bit less valid today. He's just helping those poor misunderstood Israelis get some Lebensaum after all - and making some cash while at it. What's wrong with that?
Trump and Netanyahu are nothing short of nazis.
It's almost as if half the world saw this coming from a mile out. Trump is no better than any other warmongering criminal, he just waited for someone else to do the majority of the dirty work before he stepped in to finish it off.
It's utterly disgusting and everyone just sits back and watches it happen
Not saying that any of what the, Israelis / America / Trump, are doing saying re; Gaza is right ~ ~ But the stupidity of Hamas opened the doors for them !
I think you're getting uncomfortably close to saying "I don't agree with rape, but her stupidity in wearing a mini-skirt opened the doors for it"
Now granted what Hamas committed in October 2023 was murder and a fairly nasty crime, whereas wearing a mini-skirt isn't (although Hamas might disagree actually) so the analogy does fall down there. But it's still close enough to warrant calling out.
(I also don't think you can say Hamas knew in Oct 2023 that Trump would be re-elected and would have ethnic cleansing on his portfolio)
It matters not whether Donald Trump was elected ~ ~ America does what America does ( especially in foreign affairs matters ) pretty much regardless of who is American President.
The PIRA could have blown up British Air-Liners ~ ~ Killed hundreds in " Spectaculars " in the UK even in the 26 Counties ~ ~ The PIRA never did this, because they knew they and their cause would be crushed in to oblivion if they had done so.
Hamas for what-ever reasons did not have the intelligence to Not go too far ! ~ ~ I could have told you what would happen to, GAZA / Palestinian Cause, as soon as October 7th happened.
It may Not be very nice to have an understanding of these things, and the way they will play out ~ But reality is reality all the same !
Look, I know I am (likely) naively trying to see some sort of silver lining here but is there a chance that his thinking here is that he provokes a reaction from the main players in the region to come to the table for once and for all to sort the problem out? He says "I can get Benji in line, what can you do with Hamas/Hezbollah?". If it is what he wants to do, it is obviously high risk of failure (Netanyahu is another psycho and, lets be honest, a million times more reprehensible than Trump). I dont think Trump has any true expansionist objectives - but I think we know that his typical approach to things is to provoke and then look for the deal once he has peoples attention. On the flip side, there is the possibility that he truly does think an occupation of Gaza (and other resource laden sh!tholes like Canada) fits his America First mandate. I don't know that I see it though. It's f*cked up whatever it is.
I am Not in the least bit surprised by what Israel has done in GAZA / To the Palestinians ~ ~ I suggest that Israel were just waiting for the " " opportunity " " !
I have been a student of what went on in the Six Counties for all my life ~ ~ The scale was smaller but it gives you an insight as to the debts either side is willing to go to.
Obviously ~ I have also been a keen observer of what has gone on with the Palestinians and the Israelis ~ ~ The horrors do not surprise me.
Slight tangent here but I hate it when Hitler comparisons are trotted out in such debates. It's a thought-terminating cliché.
Have you also considered that it's perhaps not a smart thing to expect rationality from people who have lived under such conditions for such a long time?
As remarkable as it sounds, I actually think Trump views (or partially views) the whole thing as real-estate problem.
This is where I'm more inclined to agree with Sean. Whilst you could say that no one could've predicted the extent of the devastation...it was always likely that the response would be something terrible. I watched some of the now infamous footage of the attacks and it was like something out of the Walking Dead.
It’s hard to stomach but his shameless ‘Art of the Deal’ style of politics has probably spurred this on -
