Full credit to Luxembourg for the win, they deserved it. What a goal from this Rodrigues fella, he's worked his backside off all match long.
lowest point since Cyrpus?
Oh, Christ.
This is the end I think. Kenny will be kept on but he'll be a caretaker by any other name until they find someone else.
What a mess.
Kenny Out
I blame Long to an extent for that. First a stupid handball for no apparent reason and very next ball in around him gives away the stupid free that lets them get back up the pitch. They’ve done what we didn’t and put the ball in the net from one of very few chances in the match.
The good news for Stephen Kenny is there'll be a job going soon back at dundalk, so at least there's that. I suppose.
Luxembourg have been the better side.
No words
No less than either side deserve
worst defeat ever by an irish team ?
It's the result both sides deserve. I really believed in this project but hard to defend this performance.
Now he takes Browne off ffs
Embarrassing,humiliating and totally clueless.
Leaving your most experienced players out of the team in an absolute must win match is a sackable crime. What was this guy thinking?
We 've finally been found out,Shane Duffy has been showing up to save our arse for a couple of seasons and wasn't there tonight.
There are some performances and results that should mean an instant resignation/sacking, and this is one.
We are now going to potentially be fighting it out for fourth.
Kenny do the decent thing and resign. And apologise.
I wanted you to succeed Mr Kenny but farewell.
Not really much you can say after a performance like that, is there?
Another drink might help...
Positives
Bazunu staked a strong claim as a future #1.
Negatives
Kenny's finished.
I'm dreading what we'll end up with if SK was to be sacked. Another lower league long ball spoofer from England. Ffs.
Thats the worst result in our history. We are a laughing stock
So, all the lads on here who wanted us to drop James McCarthy and Jeff Hendrick...
I’m gutted about the result. No doubt it’s as bad as it gets. The only way from rock bottom is up. I think we all knew it was going to be difficult with the weakness of the squad, but that’s probably beyond what anyone expected.
I think it’s still worth sticking with the overhaul of the team and the style. Qualifying was never likely anyway. Now it’s basically impossible.
Unless the players down tools completely on Kenny it can be turned around, but it’s a very long and painful path.
its over for kenny and it makes me sad.
i think its gone the way most of us suspected for a while now. nothing smart about any of our play at all. i think those defending kenny were doing so more in hope than any sort of confidence if there is honesty. never felt sadder about the irish team ever.... stan included
Shocking result, it is the worst in my living memory. And poor performance. Luxembourg were a bad team by anyone’s standards (except ours).
But as I’ve said before, I’ve already written off 2022 World Cup hopes. We have the worst squad since the early 1980s. We have no money. I’m still happy to give Kenny until 2024 to try to develop things. The rest of the campaign can be spent developing the squad. Goodbye to Brady, Randolph, Long, and Clark (has never lost the clumsy and rash attributes that plagued his English under 19 career). Time to blood in the youngsters and see who make it.
The second half felt like Five Years Long ~ ~ I can’t afford to use Five Years like that !
Just a thought. Kevin Keegan won the respect of a lot of people when he fell on his sword in the tunnel after the game that time.
I'd like Brian Kerr to take the team for Qatar next week please.
I think in the cold light of day, that's probably a very rational post. It mayn't be the best thing for us on the pitch, but I think it's the best for the FAI overall.
I'm not entirely sure if it's what I want to happen - I have to admit my confidence in Kenny is one step forward after Serbia and three steps back after today - but unfortunately Delaney has ****ed us over in so many ways that it may be the best for the FAI.
Yeah this is gutting, all over before it ever began, you always get a sense when an Irish manager is done for and this is it now, he’s gone.Back to lumping it forward looking for an equaliser for the next twenty years I suppose.
