FAI Youths Cup R3
Ballingarry 0 Douglas Hall 3
2-0 at half time with the second arriving just before the half time whistle. Douglas's 3rd goal very early in the second half put the tie beyond Ballingarry. To their credit Ballingarry battled away after this and created a few chances. Douglas a good side who could go far in the competition.
Great win for Carrig Celtic today against Newport Town to book their place in the last 32 of Ireland.
Carrig dominated most of the first half but Newport got on top during the last ten and grabbed a goal. Newport had caused Carrig a lot of trouble down the right and that's where the goal came from.
Second half a bit more level, a great goal by Seanie King to make it 1-1 as well. Carrig went up 3-1 thanks to Noel Callanan and an Own-Goal but Newport pulled one back two minutes from time with a screamer. Last 7 or 8 minutes were close but Carrig held out well and were helped by Newport being reduced to ten for one of their players handling the referee.
Also, Rush Athletic will face Rathkeale in the fifth round after beating Dublin Celtic today.
:D:D:D
"handling the referee"
Seems to be a trendy thing to do at the minute, so it would be interesting to hear the team (or squad), manager and moment of the decade from some folk on here.
What would yours be shearer
I’m open for correction on this but in the last 10 years I think the Premier Division has gone to Rathkeale * 4, Abbey * 3, Broadford * 2 and Newcastle Afc.
Again I’m open to correction but I believe Desmond Cup has gone to Rathkeale, Broadford, Newcastlewest Afc and Abbey all * 2 with Glin and Shannonside also victorious. You would have to think that players from the majority of these clubs would make up the squad
Is it true that Shane Stack has transferred to NCW Town from Janesboro?
Be great for them if that is the case... not so good for Janesboro though...
Be interesting alright to do a team of the decade - first name on the team sheet surely has to be Ray Lynch?
Shur go with what u know, none of us will remember everyone
My squad of 18 in no particular order would be
Quirke
Smith
S O’Shea
McAuliffe
O’Donnell,
King
A O’Shea
Brosnan,
Enright
Kelliher
Egan
P O’Connor
E O’Connor
Power
Lynch
Behan
Sheehan
Quaid
Obviously it’s only opinion and I’m sure I have left someone out

Abbeyfeale/Rathkeale and Glin/Granagh in the Munster Junior were fixtured for this Sunday December 22nd as the only fixtures of the day, presumably because the third round should have been played a fortnight ago.
If that is the case, why has the Abbeyfeale/Rathkeale game been pushed out to the middle of January with no sense of urgency, yet and all, Glin and Granagh has been moved to the Adare astro-turf to ensure it is played?
was there a question in there Shearer?? :D
We’re back this weekend with almost a full round of fixtures in the premier. Best of luck to Carrig in FAI - great achievement getting this far, be a tough task to get through especially away from home and not the best preparation last weekend with their loss away to granagh in league.
Out of all the fixtures I’m intrigued in how Glin and NCW Town get on. Glin going well with results and players gained by folding surrounding clubs and NCW Town getting one or two players back at Xmas (namely stack from the struggling Boro’). Should be a good tie and what ever team wins will look to push on and challenge.
It’s going to be really open this year I can see teams taken points off everyone. So if there was ever a year for NCW and Glin could challenge it would be this year.
Broadford to take 3 points from adare Sunday. Can’t see adare picking up more than 6 points this season. Just above their grade unfortunately.
Away to Kilkenny in the Oscar Traynor to be played by February 29th.
Another big win for Glin Rovers last weekend, the highlights are up on Facebook. Top of the table now and have yet to lose a game; if they could get Paul Sheahan back from Regional (as they're now out of the FAI Junior Cup) it would bolster them even further.
On a Glin related note, well done to Karl O'Sullivan who has signed for Premier Division side Finn Harps.
Can't see Glin holding that position, they haven't played anyone apart from NCW town which they got a bit of luck to win. Hopefully I'm wrong because it would be great to see another club lifting the trophy apart from the big top 3.
Think Paul Sheehan made the decision to stay with Regional, can't see Glin being too tempting for him also as he lives and works in Limerick as far as I know.
Great to see Glin top of the table but have they played any of the top teams ?? No one likes playing Glin as there so physical. Glin on a Sunday morning is the least favourite ground for any past/present Desmond League player ( What bout the attack on NCW midfielder last week ) yes it was an attack !!! Away from home there very beatable in my opinion. Sheehan back with them this week will help them for rest of season but i'd have Abbey, Rathkeale & maybe Broadford ahead of them come the finish of the league. Tough draw for Desmonds in OT .. are they training ??
Judging by the highlights, Glin should have been down to 10 men as well as 2-0 down, that's a valuable 3 points gone now for NCW. If the game was on anywhere else the Glin player probably would have gotten the red card, these are the things that can decide leagues...
Where was the red?
Where was the red 😂😂😂😂 he should get 3 matches for it ... no attempt whatsoever to play the ball... just wanted to halve the young lad !!!!
Ya I think that challenge was very reckless but it was early in the game so ref was never going to show red. It was a fiesty start to the game.poor goals to give away by ncw. Can I ask why and who built that high wall all around the Glin grounds was it some angry farmer said to do it. Such a strange setting. The league this year look very competitive if they ever get it finished

Munster Junior Cup 4th Round: Get To Know The Teams! Doolan's Cow Bar & Glin Rovers.
That settles that.Quote:
Of the matchday squad Tommy Culhane has a Republic of Ireland cap from playing with the Republic of Ireland’s Defence Forces team. This great honour was matched by Paul Sheahan who is cup-tied for Sunday’s game.
Abbeyfeale United at home to Wilton United in the last 16 of the Munster Junior Cup.
Ballingarry away to Carrigaline United in the quarter final of the Munster Youth Cup.
Went to see Kilcornan v Rathkeale today. Rathkeale won 3-1 in terrible conditions. Deserved the win overall but 3-1 flatters them. Kilcornan were missing Cathal Downes and Simon Guerin through injury and lost their keeper to injury after 20 minutes. Rathkeale missing Alan o Shea and ahern along with their first choice keeper, Carmody.
Rathkeale went up 2 nil, first one a tame Gary enright shot slipped through the keepers hands after 35 minutes, second one an own goal on the stroke of half time. David Mooney made 3 good saves in the second half to maintain the lead when Kilcornan were playing the better football. They went 3 up with a break away goal and Kilcornan hour a late consolation from one of their subs.
Harnett enright and Sean o Shea the stand out players throughout for Rathkeale. Kilcornan looked a decent side, centre half called pakie and centre midfielder called Brendan their most impressive, probably lacking a bit of youth but they'll be hard to beat. Rathkeale winning ugly which bodes well for them while missing so many key players
Is the abbey vs Wilton game still going ahead tomorrow?
Looking like no fixtures this weekend outside of Ballingarry in the Munster Youth on Saturday and the Oscar Traynor on Sunday.
Hopefully two wins.
Mighty win for Ballingarry Youths earlier as they defeated the holders, Carrigaline United, after a penalty shoot out. Bridge United will be their semi final opponents at a Desmond League venue.
Oscar Traynor Quarter Final
Kilkenny 6-1 Limerick Desmonds
Not the most blockbuster of first round draws but it's great to see that time of year roll around again.
Newcastle West Town vs Kilcornan probably the tie of the round.

Shearer/ fanaticfan or anyone else with information on the Oscar Traynor game v Kilkenny??
Also as was stated already great win for Ballingarry in the Munster Youths hopefully can make the final at least now!
There'll hardly be any Desmond League games played either this weekend i'd say!
Desmonds were slightly better team in first half without really threatening a goal, 3-0 down at half time and all 3 goals came by way of a counter attack, lost goalie thru injury sustained during 2nd goal, no coming back from it, Fiachra Cotter of Abbey made a diff when he came on at half time and again desmonds started well and threatened a couple of times kilkenny scored 2 in last 5 mins to get a deserved but flattering win
Had planned on going but couldn't make it in the finish. Scoreline not overly reflective of the play I hear.
Super win for Ballingarry. Bridge United probably a nicer draw than Charleville too.
Wouldn't bet on it. Rathkeale have Munster Champions Trophy semi so I'd imagine it being called off would result in losing home advantage?
