Responds with a goal in the second minute to set them on the way to a big win away to Huddersfield tonight. His first league goal of the season.
Could really do with him rediscovering a bit of consistent form given our ongoing troubles to front. Not sure he has it in him to do that though.
Well fair! I suppose the six goals in three games that saved Kenny two years ago was about it. Though at Preston he hit double figures twice in three years; I'd take even that
Hes just such an odd player, he can look extremely good for short bursts, you'd wonder what stops him being consistently better.
Goal and assist for him today. Did well to cross for their first goal and then finished a cross for his goal to put Cardiff in front.
Missed a penalty in the eighth minute today for Cardiff against Wednesday in the Cup
Bizarrely it was the second penalty Cardiff had missed in the game, the other being four minutes earlier. And they were already 1-0 down by that stage.
And there was still time for Cardiff to score an own goal in the first half.
About as bad a first half as a team can get really
The relationship between Robinson and Cardiff City manager Erol Bulut is reportedly not the best, according to Football League World, who suggest that Robinson may leave Cardiff this summer. Partly because of injury, he played just 843 minutes in 2023/24. Robinson had 20 shots at goal (two on target) scoring twice, and provided two assists. Cardiff City urged to part ways with Callum Robinson (footballleagueworld.co.uk)
Interesting interview (2 August) with Robinson, who had a good pre-season. He took a knock on his Achilles tendon in the first game of the Championship and missed Tuesday's League Cup game, but trained on Wednesday.

Goal for him today in the derby a few minutes after coming on. Equalizer for Cardiff in a 1-1 draw. Would be nice to see him find a bit of prolonged form and become an option for us again. He brings something a little different to our forward options.
Scored tonight in a 2-0 win. Also scored on Saturday. Certainly doing his best to earn a recall…
Another goal for him today, he's a good player when he's on it and can't be too far off being called back in.
Incidentally there were three Irish scorers in England today called Callum (or Calum). I don't think I've ever met an Irish person called Callum!
Common enough name in the northwest and have come across a few who go by the shortened 'Cal'. Presumably it's a variation of Colm, Colum, Columb etc.
My cousin's son is Calum, but he's the only one I know
Ever since Callum Best was on that reality tv show there’s been a rake of babies named Callum
A brace for Robinson today against Watford for whom Vata got an assist.
Straight red this afternoon for an elbow on a Coventry player
The BBC Radio 5 commentator and pundit both queried the red card. Cardiff manager Riza wasn't happy either, pointing out that it was the (substitute) referee James Durkin's first Championship game. Perhaps Cardiff will appeal the card.
2 for Cardiff against Swansea brings him to 10 league goals to for the season. Good going scoring that many in around half a season in a struggling team. Him, Parrott and Cannon all in form going into March, Szmodics was doing OK too until the injury. Plenty of options for HH.
That's a Championship goal every 124 minutes played, on average, according to Transfermarkt.
First goal was a beaut, a real confidence strike.
I've always felt Robinson blows hot and cold though. Has a good run for 2 or 3 games and then goes on a drought for 10.. although he's been better this season it must be said.
Regardless, he's definitely gone up the pecking order. Hopefully he can stay on a good run now. He brings something different
Another goal and an assist for Robinson today against Derby. Sounds like he played well all round too. Is he playing himself into HH plans?
Has to be I think. A very streaky player and someone who I feel has the ability to be playing at a higher level than he is. But on current form he's definitely in the squad at a minimum.
And given other options aren't inspiring either. Idah with no goals in 15 (is it now?), Ferguson and Sammie injured, Connolly still a long way to go in his recovery, Obafemi injured and gone off a cliff anyway. Maybe only Parrott and Cannon ahead of him?
Yes, although Szmodics and Ferguson should both be back playing by the time the squad is named. Robinson, Parrott, Ferguson, Cannon and Szmodics would be the five for me as things stand (with Vata picked as well but primarily as a winger).
I'm not sold on Ferguson at the moment. I know that might be sacrilege to some people but everyone on that list is having a better season by a country mile and you could even argue Idah is having a better season.
I want to be wrong saying this. Irish players seem to struggle with confidence more than most and we need our in-form players as much as possible.
Begin the slaughter
No slaughter, but if the Bulgaria game was next week and he was available, I'd still start him. At the level we're up against here, he would give the Bulgarian defence a lot to think about I think.
