Ive asked this earlier in the thread, but ill try again
a player, who has lost the English FA Cup Final for 3 different clubs?
(to the best of my knowledge he is the only)
You're right there, pineapple stu. Not too many people here seem to know it, but, Liam Brady also played for Inter Milan during his 7 seasons in Italy.Quote:

In the 80's he went from Shamrock Rovers to Santander in the Spainish Primera Lega.
Also Pierce o'leary (davids brother) played with Vancouver whitecaps i think and won caps
Pierce won 6 caps for Ireland (I think), but Vancouver Whitecaps isn't on the continent! ;)
The only other two I could find are Mickey Walsh (FC Porto) and Noel Campbell (not sure if that's his last name), who played for Fortuna Köln. Gary Waddock was with QPR for all of his 22 caps from 1980 to 1990 - no sign of him playing for a continental team, although I have a feeling that he did alright.
Another question though - Irish internationals to have gone over to America/Canada. I can think of Terry Phelan, Steve Heighway, Pierce O'Leary (if he did go to Vancouver), and of course Alan Kelly senior and Frank Stapleton who are/were coaches over there, although I don't know if they actually played.
Any others?
By the way, for anyone who cares, the answer to my earlier question about Ireland playing in Tolka was that they played Wales there in 1991 and 1983, winning the former 2-1 and losing the latter 3-1.
Oh, and Ken Kilmurray scored 4 league goals and 3 league Cup goals for UCD during his stay, as per Championship Manager.
Yes it is! Its on the North American continent.Quote:

Pat Byrne of Rovers and Bohs played with Philadelphea Furies, i think.
Garry Waddock played for Charleroi in Belgium. And who did Phelan play for in North America, I never knew that at all!?
Terry Phelan is currently over with some second division American team - we're talking eircom League standard (no offence, obviously). It's some really local team, but the name escapes me. Stick "Terry Phelan" into google and see what comes up.
Charleston Battery!
From North Carolina.
Bring back that Terry Phelan,
Whoa-ah that Terry Phelan,
Bring back that Terry Phelan,
Now he's gone, gone, gone,
Whoa-oh Whoa

Italy won the World Cup in 1934 and 1938 - does that come into it?
(I'm far too lazy to look up who the captains were!)

Club: Bayern Munich
Country: Germany
Captains:
Fritz Walter (1938)
Franz Beckenbauer (1974)
Lothar Matthaus (1990)
Fritz Walter was the 1954 captain. Other than that, Matthaus was mentioned earlier and marked down as wrong...

And Carlisle stayed up thanks to an injury-time goal from their keeper, who had been loaned after the transfer deadline by special dispensation from the FA. Jimmy Glass, signed from Swindon, who didn't earn a contract for all his trouble and has since retired from football and is now working as a computer consultant or some such.
I had an exam that morning and was in the pub when the scores were going through is how I remember...:o
How did Turkey qualify for the 1954 World Cup in Switzerland?
ya, i knew that, stupid mistake. But when Brazil didnt win in 1950, there was something original about that as well ya?Quote:

either that or it was something to do with a playoff with Spain?
I know i know it, but cant for the life of me think of it!!!
in the premierships short 10yr time one player has scored for 5 different teams. name that player
and o.g's arent included
Nicki barmby?
thought this one mite take longer
fair play
spurs, liverpool, everton, leeds and?
Middlesborough.
And for to put GWA out of his misery - Turkey played Spain, but beat them at home and lost away. To decide which qualified (no aggregate score back then), a blind Italian boy drew lots and drew Turkey.
Are you serious .... a blind kid. Get outta here like :rolleyes:Quote:
