maybe I'm getting confused, but is there 2 lordan's, Cathal and Craig ?
Stephen Ireland, Willo Flood, and Jon Macken started for Man City's reserves in their 5-0 thumping of a Liverpool team including Darren Potter (as a second striker??) and Richie Partridge.
Stephen Ireland was described as inspirational by the mcfc report and set up the second goal, Lee Croft played right wing (and got MOTM) so I presume Willo Flood played left wing. Jon Macken hopes to play himself into the senior team's game against Portsmouth with 2 goals.
Karl Bermingham was on the bench and didn't make an appearance. Ishmael Miller came on a sub. I've mailed the FAI with his name and hope they'll check out his eligibility, he's been banging them in for the reserves.

Liverpool report here
Willo Flood and Karl Bermingham started for Man City's reserves in their final game of the season against Man United's reserves, including Liam Miller.
The match finished 3-1 to United with Miller scoring the last of United's goals. Willo Flood got the assist for Man City's consolation goal late on, and Bermingham was substituted late on.

There's a headline dated 28th April '05 on Hull City's website saying Ben Burgess scored a hat trick for the reserves and is pressing for a first team return this weekend. He missed a whole year with a cruciate injury.
You need to be registered to read the article so for all I know it was against some minnows but good to see him back in action.
With Hull going up you never know, goals in The Championship next season may put him ahead of the likes of Macken, Connolly & Lee (who seems to have gone to pot altogether). One to keep an eye on next year?
Hull also have Damien Delaney and Jonathan Walters I think.
Here's the article:
Burgess Hoping For First Team Nod
Ben Burgess was glad to be back amongst the goals with his hat-trick for the reserves and would love to be included in the senior squad for the clash with Sheffield Wednesday.
The striker's hat-trick helped the Tigers' reserves to clinch the Pontins Holidays League Premier Division title, but he was quick to pass on the credit to those around him.
"It was just about getting fit but it was nice to score - 12 months is some goal drought!" he said.
"To be fair Aaron Wilbraham set up all three for me and did brilliantly.
"There have been a lot of young lads in the reserve side this year and they've done really well in winning the league.
"It's a great achievement for everyone concerned."
Peter Taylor has already stated that he's considering naming Burgess on the bench for this weekend and that would be a big boost for the 23-yerar-old.
"I've only been waiting a year!" he quipped. "But in all seriousness, if I'm on the bench I'll be delighted.
"It'll mean that all my hard work over the past ten months has paid off.
"I feel fit and strong and have been training for the last eight to ten weeks, as well as having played a part in four reserve games.
"I haven't missed a day's training through any niggles and hopefully I can build from here."
The Tigers put their impressive record at the KC on the line against the Owls on Saturday and Burgess believes they have every motivation to keep it intact.
"We've only lost one game at home this season and would love to carry that on," he added.
"With it being a derby we'd also like to win for the supporters and I think as a team we want to put things right after the defeat at Walsall."
Thanks Tetsujin. He came off the bench on Saturday when they lost 2-1 at home to SWFC.
hello all
ive got a season ticket at leicester city n hav finally got round 2 this.
DAVID CONNOLLY: while doing nothing to suggest he is an international striker he is a threat at this level and while 3 different managers and 7 different strike partners and some caveman longball football under adams and briefly basset this season havent helped him,he is a popular player here and has managed 13 for the season now and 7 in his last 10 as the side levein is building begins to play some good football and create chances.his link play is good and always starts when fit.
ALAN MAYBURY: again, always starts when fit and has played at r.b. and l.b. but while looking solid on either side he gives far more going forward from the right.he is becoming a fans favourite here and while id have serious doubts about him in an international game it would be interesting to see him at prem level.he has scored 2 goals as well and has taken them both very well.overall has made a good first impression
PADDY MCCARTHY: has made a big impact and is doing well over all.always starts when fit and is showing good positional sense and decent distribution, has played at R.B. ans C.B. but looks better in the middle but put in some great crosses when going forward from the right.he is a threat at set pieces and his flick ons have led to 2/3 goals thus far.he seems fiercely determined to succeed and its not beyond him to bollock senior pros like dublin, dabizas and walker when the need arises.could be a leader on the pitch given time.on the flip side he can be hot headed and does give a fair ammount of free kicks away and has a tendency when jostling for a high ball to droop his arm over the attacker which when refs see, they tend to penalise.also he collected 5 bookings from his forst 8 starts but had gone 2 games incident free till giving away a pen v leeds on sunday.he also made a goal line clearence v wolves which didnt seem possible, scooping a ball from his own goal line over the crossbar.but overall an encouraging beginning to his pro career.
Cheers for that Crafty. Great to here a view from someone who see's these players week in week out.
you're welcome eirebhoy....tis a noble quest of yours
heres the rest...this posting game takes slightly longer than i had anticipated !!
CONRAD LOGAN: a goalkeeper,he is a firsteam squad member and reserve regular but id say it could be touch and go for this guy,but you never know. the reason i say this is when the regular cover for ian walker was injured recently, levein named 5 outfield players on the bench and a report carried in a recent match programme from a reserve game v arsenal cited a logan error when his attempted clearance was charged down,as having gifted arsenal the opening goal in a 4-2 defeat for leicester.
STEPHEN DAWSON: on a brighter note this combative midfielder, and first team squad member who has made the bench a handfull of times this season, was singled out for special praise in the same game.he was described by reserve team manager kenny black as one of only 2 players to shine for leicester in that game and is quoted ''players like stephen dawson are the future of leicester city fc'' this coupled with manager craig leveins publicly stated desire that academy lads will make up 6/7 of the first team squad over the coming seasons, means it is widely anticipated that dawson will be given a chance at 1st team level here in the near future.
ALAN SHEEHAN:another of the brighter prospects in the academy at leicester and another irishman. a left back who at just 18 has been training with the 1st team squad due to the strength of his recent performances.he has also made the shortlist of 3 for the academy player of the year at leicester this season.
indeed, craig levein has said that had it not taken so long for the club to make sure of its place at championship level this yr,that these 2 and a handfull of others (not irish), would most likely already have made 1st team debuts.
ill keep ye posted with developments both good and bad with these lads and any other info on irish lads at the club that i come accross.
by the way... when wigan came to the walkers stadium recently, graham kavanagh was easily the best player on the field,by a long long way, totally bossed the game and his team mates all day.he ran the show with as good a display of awareness, vision and creativity as ive seen this season.and his set piece delivery caused pandemonium all day long and directly created wigans 2 goals.too good for this level.
to the point that the leicester fanzine, the fox,(which normally doesnt pay a scrap of attention to non-leicester players) declared.....''why didnt we sign kavanagh'' !!
This is great stuff CTP. I'm especially interested to hear how McCarthy is progressing & it's been hard as, understandably, the usual UK media sources wouldn't focus on him. Keep it up.
Diarmuid O'Carroll and Darren O'Dea started for Celtic's u-19's as they beat Rangers 2-0 with O'Carroll getting the opener.
The U-19's only need one more point to clinch their league title

From TEAMTALK
Six shown door by Foxes
Craig Levein has cut a swathe through the Leicester dressing room by axing six first-team players, including goalkeeper Ian Walker and defender Nikos Dabizas.
Walker and Dabizas have been told their Walkers Stadium contracts will not be renewed while Scot Gemmill, Lilian Nalis, Keith Gillespie and Nathan Blake have also been shown the door.
Levein, under pressure to reduce an annual wage bill estimated at £11m, said none of the quartet would be selected for the final match of the season against Plymouth at Home Park.
But 36-year-old Dion Dublin has been offered a new one-year deal with 19-year-old midfielder Stephen Dawson also given new terms.
The futures of goalkeeper Lars Hirschfeld, Jason Wilcox and Jamie Scowcroft, who is on loan at Ipswich, are to be discussed next week.
Meanwhile, Celtic utility player Momo Sylla has joined the Foxes on trial.
Ahh, its confirmed. :)Quote:

Karl Bermingham, Willo Flood and Stephen Ireland all started for Man City's reserves in their 3-2 win over Paul McShane's Man United reserve team in the Manchester Senior Cup Final.
Ireland played well, scored and hit the bar, could be in line for a call up to the full team next season. He did travel with the full team a few times this season, but never made the matchday 16.

Willo Flood has not got a look in since Stuart Pearce took over at city. He has played another right midfield/winger called Croft ahead of willo. A bit worrying for the lad.
Both Flood and Croft have Shaun Wright-Phillips in front of them in the first team, but Croft only plays on the right, or behind the striker, whereas Willo can play left wing as well - that's where he played last night AFAIK. Croft was on loan at Oldham earlier in the season, and has way more first team experience than Flood because of that so maybe it's not surprising that he's ahead of him at the moment. Pearce knows more about the reserve team than most, and wanted to keep Flood out of it recently, but it was Flood who asked him to let him stay and play for the reserves, although I'm not sure why.Quote:

Name the Irish International that has played in all 4 divisions this year and is now playing in the premiership.
don't know who done it this year but Stephen Kelly did it last year, Southend, QPR, Watford and Spurs
plymouth v leicester
maybury, mccarthy, sheehan and connolly all started for leicester.dawson was on the bench.logan didnt make the bench, there was no keeper on the bench.
MCCARTHY:he started at C.B. but was replaced well before halftime as he was in line for a red card.he had taken the bait a couple ot times on the edge of the area when the striker showed him the ball and been tricked both times and was booked for the second offence.about 5 mins later he raced into a 50-50 and led with his foot, the plymouth player nicked it away first and paddy caught him in the stomach with the flat of his foot.he was very very lucky not to walk for it.he was subbed almost immediately.it was his 7th yellow in 12apps.
ALAN SHEEHAN:he made his debut at L.B. and did well.he laid down a marker early with a few nicely timed tackles as plymouth probed down his side.he also managed to knock the ball to a leicester player or into touch each time he challenged.he also put 2 good deep crosses in in the 1st half when he got forward, which found leicester shirts.in the second half plymouth were on the front foot most of the time but he held his position well and was rarely found out.he didnt get forward much due to this but on one occasion he picked it up on half way in space and took it forward,he drew the fullback nicely and put his winger in behind with a nice pass, the resulting cross broke to him again and again he took a nice touch, drew the players to him,but this time he knocked it to the end line and chased it himself.he showed good speed to reach it and whipped in a lovely head-high cross which deserved a finish.overall he did well and the manager has said as much.with the sky parachute payments due to end next year and wilcox and tiatto both 33,and jordan stewart inconsistent,he will hopefully be given the chance.on sundays showing,he deserves it.
MAYBURY/CONNOLLY: both solid did nothing wrong or anything spectacular.
mccarthy, dawson and alan sheehan have all been called into the U21 training camp today.
Oh sorry your right i wrote this year it was Stephen Young.
Heres another one there are currentley 12 players still playing in the premiership who played on the opening day of the premiership 1991/1992 season who r they. Sorry again about the last question.
1-Alan Shearer
2-Ryan Giggs
3-Gary Speed
4-Andy Cole?
5-Roy Keane
6-Nigel Martyn?
7-Lee Clark?
8-Jamie Redknapp?
9-Graeme le Saux?
I see Sean Thornton of Sunderland has been deemed surplus to requirements and placed on the transfer list by Mick McCarthy. Thought he might have given the lad a chance in the Premiership, after nursing him back to fitness last season.
Also Stevie Staunton has been offered a new contract at Coventry while Graham Barrett has been made available for free transfer

Have read that Goodwin has received a few offers from other clubs.
Dave Worrell of Plymouth has also been given a free. Now 27, he said he might consider coming back to the EL. Has made 140 league appearances for Plymouth, around 25 this season..
