Not winning the FD would be a failure IMO and even if they won the playoffs I would favour letting TC go.
The playoffs are a lottery stacked against the FD teams. Even if Longford are very strong but get pipped to the title, playing against FD teams doesn't exactly set you up brilliantly to take on a PD team.
This is ridiculous. The objective of teams in the first division is to get promoted. If it's through the play offs then so be it. If Longford are promoted then it's a successful season.
I also don't buy this notion of the play offs being a lottery. It's nothing of the sort. The team that plays better over the games will generally win.
Liam Kearney has signed back for us; he was out in Australia for the past few years.
Limerick had no hesitation in sacking Scully after he under preformed during their league winning campaign so I can't see why if TC doesnt deliver the goods this season he shouldnt face similar circumstances. This is not me trying to put pressure on the man or anything like that but he will never have a better FD squad than this so its win or bust for him this season.
Maybe I have made my point badly, but in my opinion, if Cousins is not able to win the title this season, with the squad he has at his disposal, he will have done a poor job. Winning the playoffs wouldn't change that.
Dunne adds six to squad
Updated squad list:
Goalkeepers:
Connor Gleeson.
Defenders:
Colm Horgan, Marty Owens, Cian Fadden, Paul Sinnott ©, Martin Conneely, Ross Kenny, Marc Ludden.
Midfielders:

Strikers:
Stephen Walsh, Vinny Faherty, Jake Keegan.
They should sack Cousins even if they win the league imo.
My point was nothing to do with Cousins really. I stand by the opinion that if Longford are promoted then it's a successful season for them.
Maybe Cousins wouldn't be the manager for Longford in the Premier. We had that situation when we won the first but didn't keep John Gill.
Signs of life in Cobh after all, this is who they've signed up so far according to the LOI Blog:
Robert Birdshall
Shane Hallahan
Brendan Frahill
Anthony O'Donnell
Eoin Hastings
Adam Thompson
Roy Kenny
Bobbie Donoghue
Chrsitopher McCarthy
Wouldn't really disagree with that to be fair. You can have a successful season whilst at the same time it's not as successful as it could or should have been. Anyway I believe the likes of Rice and Flynn and Sullivan were brought in for their experience and leadership as much as their ability in the hope of avoiding any form of collapse this year.

What about Gledhill? He has been with you during preseason
Yeah he's been here alright. He made an awful mistake that gifted Avondale a goal against is, but that's the only game I've seen him in. He played again yesterday in a 6-1 win over Mervue. It's hard to know if he'll be signed as I've read a few other reports which weren't too complimentary.
Do you have any other keeper then?
our squad needs to be updated with the confirmed arrival of Sean Russell from UCD!

Not a massive change from last year, but Harps did underachieve last season, particularly in the second half of the season. Unlucky not to beat Drogheda in the cup so I'm sure Harps fans are expecting Horgan to get more out of this group on a consistent basis
