Is the Ireland V Oman match being shown anywhere?
Let's get this one out of the way first. :)
In seriousness though, I'd imagine it's on Sky. They usually show our friendlies, don't they?
Found an interesting blog from a Welsh fan who went to last years Euro Qual. game between Kazakhstan v Austria which ended 0-0.

Thought that Oman game was tonight but alas, tis next Tuesday
Heard on TV3 that the expectation is a Keane + Walters strikeforce.
Cox played wide left today with McClean suffering an illness. Trap seems to be suggesting he'll play 4-3-3 with McGeady presumably playing deeper. Interesting.

“We have to be offensive, with three strikers, one on the right and one on the left but I think we can play with this look about us and achieve a result. It’s important that we win this game.”
I hope it is an actual 4-3-3 and not a 4-4-2 with Cox in midfield which just doesn't work as we've seen. It sounds interesting and could be effective.
I'm not sure what else he could mean by "one on the right and one on the left" though. Unless by right he means middle and by middle he means middle.
This article suggests 4-4-2 http://www.irishtimes.com/newspaper/...323612170.html
So if that is to be the team nothing has been learned from the Euros. Two forced changes in Westwood for Given and McCarthy for Andrews. Cox out on the left again. O'Shea at right back when center half is his best position. The sore throat/virus excuse for not picking McClean is pure ******ogy. And no place for Long. Trapatonni is not putting out the best players or best team available to him. The team should be
Westwood
Kelly O'Shea Sledge Wilson
McGeady McCarthy Whelan McClean
Walters Long
Nothing has been learned. It's mind-numbingly soul-destroying.
I dont know. We only lost 1 match in Qualifying then had a bad Euro which included the two teams that played for the Championship in our group.....
You are thinking it's the time to experiment and Trap is thinking he wants to go to Brazil.
I do see both points other than we always over rate players in the name of switching, no? I mean you honestly think Walters is that good?
And entirely predictable.
Let's hope we sneak a win...
It's not about Walters (he's playing), it's not even about 4-4-2 v 4-3-3, it's not about McClean, McCarthy, Wilson or Gibson. It's about Trap, his damning indictment of our players ability to do anything other than harry and strangle and the boredom I feel watching Ireland that I never felt before Trap in the best and worst of times. I just don't care anymore and don't wanna argue about it.
I see your point but You weren't bored watching them play under Staunton, losing to Wales?
Jonathan Walters will partner Robbie Keane up front,
Simon Cox will start out wide on the right and James McCarthy will be in the centre alongside Glenn Whelan.Aiden McGeady will start on the other flank.
At the back, Stephen Ward, Darren O’Dea will partner Sean St Ledger, ???????O'Shea
Westwood.
Walters Keane
Cox, McCarthy, Whelan McGeady
Ward, O'Dea Sledge, OShea.
Westwood.
So that is the articles line up, only O'Shea is not specifically mention, but I assume he will be right back.
the proof of the pudding will be on Friday at about 6.45pm.
Not much creativity in that team. If we score it will be from a set-play or a mistake by them. Same old.
James Mc Clean @JMcC_23
off to kazakhstan in the mornin.. 9 hour flight fun.. #100%fit
Mc Clean saying he is 100% fit ... Trap saying he has a sort throat. This should be interesting ...

Trapattoni said yesterday (Tuesday): "McClean came here with a sore throat. This morning he was better but now he has a little problem with it.
"I think he will be okay in one day(Wednesday/ today). Then we will make a decision. "That's all we can do."
I'd like to see how we line-up. If he at least attempts some fluidity between a 4-4-2/4-3-3 I'd be slightly happier, but the omens don't look good. I'm mostly annoyed O'Shea's still at flipping right back - a complete waste of time.
Who'd be your preferred right-back? Kelly?
More bothered about Ward, personally...
http://footballrepublic.ie/mcclean-w...r-due-illness/
I see it as most likely being a 4-2-3-1
O'Shea Sledge O'Dea Ward
---- Whelan McCarthy ----
-- McGeady Keane Cox ---
------- Walters ----------
I suspect Wilson will come on for Ward at some point. Trap trying Kelly out there v Serbia suggests he see's it as a problem position. But I like the look of it. In McCarthy we have a midfielder who sit deep and can pass the ball, and he will have 3 creative players in front of him to give it to. That should give a side as poor as Kazakhstan more problems than they can cope with.
The other big priority we should have is improving defending set pieces. That will be their main threat and we were far to poor at the Euros at defending them.
They both bother me, I just didn't expect him to change Ward.
Kelly would be my choice, but O'Brien, Coleman or Wilson would've done. O'Shea's been a bit of a disaster at right back recently, and his presence there is a big problem for us with the ball. He doesn't go forward with any purpose and his distribution is dreadful (tends to lump it, ask questions later). I think a more natural right full would play the ball better and offer more balance.
BTW did anyone notice O'Brien appeared to play left back last week for West Ham? Set up a goal too with a foraging forward run if I recall correctly.
Aye, agree with all of that SVD and btw's point about learning how to defend set pieces which was frankly shocking.
I get the impression Trap isn't keen on McClean and would be happy to have a reason to replace him.
just to confuse the issue further: http://www.fai.ie/international/seni...4.html?start=1

All 23 players started the training session but Sunderland winger James McClean didn't finish it as he is still feeling the effects of the sore throat which caused him to miss Monday's session but he was fit to travel to Astana this morning.
why is cox even playing?? really annoying, what does shane long have to do to get into this team. were missing out on his best years!!!!! he has pace, great in the air and can score. cox has no pace for a wide position, no pace for any position in fact. same with mcclean, what does he have to do to claim a spot from now on......
Got to be for non footballing reasons. Not one current Premiership manager would pick that likely team as reported in the IT. McCleans shambles comment after the Euros probably did him in. And Long stating he was fully fit after the Serbia game did him in. All very petty. The nonsense about Duff coming back to play against Germany when they have had no indicators from the player himself reeks of a couple of chancers playing the crowd. And injuries permitting this will be side that will face Germany except McCarthy being dropped for Andrews. And Dunne coming back. All very predictable.
its getting very depressing at this stage, my patience with trap is wearing thin. just pick our best players in there position. simple.
Cox came on for McGeady against Croatia. Played about 35 mins in a wide position. I'd be surprised if Trapattoni choses he start him in a wide position after his showing in those 35 mins. But he did the same previously with Keogh (ie playing in a position clearly not suited to him) so .....
my team would be..start with this and see how we get on. so simple.....
-------------Westwood--------------------
Coleman------O'Dea--------O'Shea-----------Wilson
--------------------Whelan-----------------------
McGeady------------McCarthy----------------McClean
----------Keane-----------------Long
He wouldn't play Cox on the wing again would he?
I've lost all faith in him. I hope he and the team prove me wrong by qualifying for the WC but I fear the worst.
Trap has made noises about Cox playing off Keane essentially, so possibly playing narrower. Would be no surprise if it was just noise.
Long's been hard done by but Trap's set out his methods about Long quite clearly whether people agree with him or not - he sees him as a direct replacement, not a partner, for Robbie. So it's one or the other for the manager. We can debate Robbie coming in for Long all day long.
And, in fairness to Cox, people's love affair with Shane makes people forget that Simon has played generally really well for us since coming in, which is a bit unfortunate. He also does have decent top speed, albeit he's not as quick as Long.
Personally I'd ignore both and play Walters anyway.
Keen on him personally or as a footballer? I think you're just stirring again. He's still relatively new to the set-up and has been given four caps by Trap. Trap has been willing to give him a chance to break in by starting him in friendlies, but seems to go with his trusted players and methods in competitive games. This is usual for Trap and, whilst frustrating for fans who'd like to see McClean included, doesn't indicate anything personal against McClean. It's not like our options on the wings are skin-bare. I'm confident McClean will break through in time. If Trap really wasn't keen on him, he wouldn't have called him up and could have selected Stephen Hunt instead.
