Couple pages of SPL garbage binned. TiocfaidhArmani is already suspended for other nonsense.

SPL discussion is BANNED on Foot.ie except for the designated thread. If it comes up again off-thread, it'll be banned entirely, and I'll go utterly spare doling out bans for the rulebreaking. It's been a while since I went spare and I'm kinda bored waiting for my next babby to escape, so feel free to indulge me.

But if you do get banned for this, you won't be coming back. Don't say I didn't warn you.

Barstool Report: Over 5000 attended the RSC on Wednesday for Waterford United v Liverpool. The vast majority were from Waterford cheering against Waterford. Waterford won. In fairness to them, at least they can say they were at a real live game for once.

First time I heard that song was in Highbury in 1990 - Paul Davis testimonial. **** song then -- said to it all the Celtic supporters - **** song now. Best part of the gig was watching dope-smoking, Buckfast drinking fiends, lash into its chorus. Hilarious. As for it being a Munster Rugby song -- 'av it.

When did Celtic supporters first appropriate the song as their anthem?

I've heard the actual quote, and it's hard to argue with him:

"In some ways, Celtic is more Irish than any sporting club in Ireland, because it represents and embodies this absolutely central Irish experience."

Supporting your local team instead of one in a foreign country is hardly a "central Irish experience"

In all seriousness, the problem is not that people support other teams in other countries its that they do it exclusively or don't acknowledge local soccer teams. Last nights Rovers game was last night was an example of the attitude.

Whilst you support Celtic, and while personally I can't understand it, at least you attend LOI games and understand the importance if that.

Same goes with the likes of Peadar and Stoke.

I agree but it's never going to change. It's engrained in the culture and one set of gob****es pass down their traditions to the next. It's just how folk are brought up, but it's up to good people like the folk on here to change attitudes, I just think people go the wrong way around it. This might sound dramatic but I think it should have been taken up at a political level like some sort of campaign to promote the league as a way of improving facilities and providing employment by supporting our own as well. That was obviously never gonna happen when good auld Bertie's office was a stone throw from Tolka and he never bothered his backside once to come along and support his local team.

I can't tell ya what a joy it was to watch Newcastle v Arsenal this evening. The quality of that just shows you that the Premier League is the only game in town. Especially if you've never watched a Bundesliga game or been to Drom.
