I thought the official was 4,200 so maybe he pressed a 3 instead of a 4 but no chance of him pressing a 5 instead of a 4. Unofficialy i would say it closer to the champions and weekenders figure.

Would Rovers have given out the wrong official attendance so we don't have to give Waterford as much? I'm sure all clubs fiddle with the gate in cup games like.
3,200 at last weeks game? Nonsense.. We better email someone else in the FAI.
Is this Mooney lad started on the beavy? We are only attracting twice the number of fans than Fingal over the course of the season. Could he actually look at who actually paid into Fingal for a game and stop looking at the freebies and adjusting figure here there and everywhere. Take a look at previous finals Noel we have never brought anything less than 6,000 to one. The FAI are a joke a total farce and to justify themselves they will start adjusting things to suit their slant. Sligo Rovers always travel for the cup.
Sure there was 2,700 at the Vlaznia match is Noel telling us there was only 500 extra behind the goals?
I'll just make one observation. I have never heard of anyone who could not get in to see an FAI Cup Final and I'll be astounded if I hear of this season.
By reading Mooneys response to the emails, I get the feeling he really doesnt want to entertain any notion of increased capacity
To be fair avvenalaf you were the one person i remember on here saying that there would only be 1,500 or so at the european game and that it would nto sold out, so prediction history is not the best in that regard. The reason you probably never heard of anyone never been able to see the FAI cup final is it's never been played in such a small stadium that officially ground holds 5,700. The whole thing is bizarre to say the least and really shows the FAI up for clowns they are.

The leagues crowds are small enough as it is, nobody interested in going to the cup final should be turned away, they should be welcomed. The FAI are really showing their true colours here regarding what they think of our league if they do restrict the capacity by playing it in Tallaght without the temporary seats. They're too busy sorting their suits and polishing their shoes for the France game to be dealing with the FAI cup at the moment.
Anyone else think that if Seamus Coleman was in the squad he could have said something about it?
Has this all been blown out of proportion, before any announcement from the FAI.
My guess is that someone realised that there was a capacity of 6000, minused 1000 for sponsors, FAI, etc.....leaving 5000 to split between to teams, thus arriving at 2500 per team.
Can't we just sit back relax until an official statement in relation to the ticket allocations is made.
Surely it's in the interest of the FAI to make as much revenue from this Cup Final as they possibly can that includes tickets, programmes etc...
If the capacity and demand exists to increase the attendance then I believe they will, and I expect Rovers to be the main beneficiaries of this.
Just another **** up by the power that be!the tickets are going to be sold on ticketmaster so that means rovers will get about 2100 tickets if the figure of 2500 is true. And the other 400 will go to ticket touts every ticket tout in Dublin will be rubbing tere hands knowing tere going to make a small fortune. How are they going to separate the Rovers and Sporting Fingal fans. And what about rovers and sporting fingal season ticket holders.Surely they must get the first allocation!A lot of people were talking about this leading up to the semi final. That if sligo rovers got to the final it would make more sense to move it to the likes of the RDS or even dalymount!I just hope sense prevails
Just sent an email there to Noel Mooney and Jim Higgins MEP for Connacht Ulster.
Jim has been a good friend to Rovers over the years and was one of the main sponsors of the Semi Final against Waterford, so he was at the game and has seen at first hand the crowd that was there and the passion we have for our club.

Maybe the 6,000 fans who are going to the cup final could be given a voucher at the drogs game that would qualify them for a ticket for the final, OOPS CANT DO THAT BECAUSE THEY WONT BE THERE THEY ONLY TURN UP FOR "BIG GAMES". look after the people who turn up week after week and constantly put their hands in their pockets to keep the club afloat, the rest of them can come along next season and earn the right to see the team play in a cup final.
Fran gavin on Ocean @ 9.30am this morning.
mail ocean and get the message accross we want more tickets
Heres a scenario what if we offered to pay up front for our allocation and crazy maybe pay for the bucket seating (dont reply saying we should have to I know that)
Just listening to it there, they seem to want to take an average att for league games 1,368 and saying we don't deserve any more. Would love to know what the average att was for our home cup games. Also mentioned that Sligo Rovers returned an official figure of 3,200 so i think he may be try and put some of the pressure back on them because i have been going there for nearly 30 years now and there was a lot more than 3,200 at it. Nothing has been set in stone, the second caller that came on was quite decent to be fair, told and asked Gavin why are you looking at average att when it comes to a Cup Final? Gavin kept coming back to that 1365 figure and asking to where these extra people are for our home games. Also said he did not want to run the risk of putting in extra seats and having them left empty but sure for years and years they played the final in Landsdowne road and they will be moving it back to the avia when that opens.
Gavin is missing the point altogether , It'd be a strange thing if a club anywhere in the world didn't get an extra crowd for a cup final. It's not just sunshiners that are extra in coming out it's those living abroad who make a special effort to come back for the game.
Also about him being worried about there being empty seats , Surely it's better to have a few empty seats than having a load of fans missing out
Still no clearer after that.
The attendances used were laughable. Presenter and people that came on werent asking the right questions, for example nothing about Ticketmaster or could we sell tickets in town for next 2 weeks, and then put in bucket seats.
And that comment by Fran about 'the last thing we want is an empty stadium' yet he says from now on the final is going to be in the Aviva. How empty do you think thats gona be?
Hes saying official avg attendance at Showgrounds was 1368 for year so he doubts there will be a problem for cup final.(does he not know we brought approx 10000 fans to Landsdown in 94 - He said he was at game)
He also said official attendance for cup semi was 3200.(Bear in mind he was at the game - ???)
He basically said he would be meeting clubs next week to decide ticket allocation. No chance of a change in venue...
In relation to extra temp seats (like in madrid FRIENDLY where our game with shams was rescheduled at last minute) he said the last thing cup final needs is empty seats behind goal (Like empty seats looks worse than empty space)
He said that last years final which was 2 big clubs Bohs Derry attracted only 10000(Ie Sligo Rovers small club)
He said our attendance at our home league on Friday would be taken into account when deciding allocation(If we beat bohs tonight it may not be too big a game and also many people who work outside of sligo may not make the game)
It just seems they are being as awkward as possible.....I think we'll be left with the 2500 tbh but hopefully wrong
Frans argument held no water what so ever.
His point that "wait and see how many we get for the last game versus Drogheda" to base figures on this is nonsense. With league games if you miss one you will get another next week, with a cup final you get one chance so attendances will swell. We played Fingal in the Leagu cup this season and about 150 @ it so does that mean we split 150 tickets between us for the final. And if based on attendances our average according to the FAI is 60% more than Fingal so should we not get over double the allocation instaed of 50-50 split.
Just look at MK dons in england last year, how many did they bring to wembley compared to their home gate.Look at how many GAA fans attend an ALL Ireland Final compared to a League final, demand for international tickets when Ireland play the likes of Italy,France Germany compared to San marino and fatoes. Its the OCASSION.
"Look at last seasons final between Derry and Bohs 2 of the bigegst clubs in the league and only 10,000"
This is the same Bohs when top of the league and after winning a treble still only manage 1,500 average per home game so why would they expect any more.
"Dont want empty seats as wouldnt look good" Bray Fingal semi final need I say more, more RTE crew than fans.Think the FAI credibility of running the league is well and truely gone Fran and attendances on telly will not change things.
FAI should not be making the decision they should listen to the clubs and what they want and we want 7000+ tickets.
Well by the sounds of it Gavin was talking total and utter rubbish and he was allowed to get away with it. He also appears to have been quite insulting to our club.
I know Mr. Gavin will be in the Clarion Hotel on Nov 4th with a number of other FAI officals for a meeting and maybe that would be a chance to show him how many Rovers fans want to go to the final.
I really hope the Club is putting pressure on the FAI to change their attitude and maybe they should start taking orders for tickets to see exactly what the demand would be.
I think ye are missing the point, Gavin said that extra seats will be installed if there is demand for them. I think they ought to assume there will be demand but thats the FAI for you. The thing now is to sell the thousands of tickets we claim to need. An attendance of 10000 is easily achieveable btween us the few from SF, LOI neutrals and those curious about the new stadium.
Gavin did make a few swipes at the club but we can't have it both ways if we understate our attendances we cannot make claims that we have huge support.
heard today that it was on the radio that the FAI said they are going to put in the extra seats. Any truth?
if we don't get the seats well do a maxi on the fai headquarters:o
its a joke there were 5,000 fans at the semi final and they want us give us 2,500 for a final!they don't have a clue since the fai have taking over this league it has become a joke with clubs messing around and no action being taking the fai clearly don't care about the league of Ireland just the international team.you bet if Waterford had got to the final John Delaney would bend over backwards to make sure Waterford would have enough tickets for the game we are one of the best supported teams in the league and are fans are being treated like muck by the fai surely the fai would be happy to put in more seats as more seats = more money for them but no.
From listening to Fran Gavin this morning, my take on it is as follows:
Tallaght has a capacity of 6,000 at the minute but that capacity can be increased to 12,000 by putting in Bucket seats. If the demand is there, the FAI will put in the extra seats.
Both clubs are meeting with the FAI on Monday when the allocation for both clubs will be agreed. We will be looking for as many tickets as possible.
Tickets will be initially sold to Season Ticket Holders, 400 Club Members, Members, Johnny Chadda Club Members, Players, Staff, Match Day Volunteers and Committee Members on the Wednesday and Thursday of next week.
They will then go on General sale next Friday at the Drogheda game. The only way to create the demand is if we keep buying and if we keep buying, the Club will keep selling. So we need as many people as possible to go to the Drogheda game and also to buy the tickets then as well.
This is my take on it and as per the website, the Club will make a more detailed statement on Monday evening.
One other point, there are NO FREE tickets. The players and Committee Members have to pay for any tickets they get. Any tickets the Club give to Sponsors will have to be paid by the Club. Maybe the Mayor from each town might be invited by the FAI.
Response from Dr Jimmy Devins below
Dear Thomas
Thank you for your recent email to Dr Jimmy Devins, T.D in relation to your concerns regarding the FAI Cup final ticket allocations. The Deputy strongly agrees with your views, and he has made a representation to the FAI to stress the unique regard the FAI cup is held in Sligo, and the need to ensure that every Sligo Rovers fan who wishes to attend can be at the game. This event is a great boost to the town and county of Sligo, and it is important that the FAI use the time available to plan for the attendance expected from Sligo.
I will let you know when we have a response from the FAI, please do not hesitate to contact me or Jimmy again on this issue.
Ciaran
