We can confirm that Minty is gone and Niall has stepped up. Emergency meeting called last night at training supposedly Minty said he cant get a team together ( out of four training sessions 5 was the most players he had at the one time) stating anyone he asked declined so offered the job to Niall, Niall put it to us after training stating its vital that Casement have a good quailty senior side and that he thinks we should step up, no complaints from anyone. Only one condition we wanted was for Niall to be the gaffer and nothing changes only the league were playing in. So our planned assault on the AUL is switched to MSL :D Littleman they tried that last year telling players they must play with the top team if their good enough but as you said players will walk and they told them so last season.
Cheers Southsider,it can be hard bein honest about things not goin according to plan within a club, but at least ye have tried to make the best of it.Appriciate the honesty as you didnt have to say anythin.Best of luck, tis just a pity the Oscar Traynor side could have done with some of the talent.;)
No problem Littleman i said id give the full story for everyone to see before every sort of rumour will be starting about what "really" happened ;). Id certainly agree that the Oscar Traynor panel would have been alot better off if we didnt move on up. Does this mean i must join that horrible MSL page cause id much prefer to chat amongst real football men  ????
There will be an AUL 2 team still there. Its lasts years senior team. They started last year as an AUL side but cause the commitee f*****d up appointing the new manager the junior side had to go up senior meaning our AUL 3 side had to go AUL 2. Same as this year really :o:o:o. So Casement will Have MSL team,AUL 2 team and the Youth team.
Neil Duggan is still a great player. He's a very good player to have around any club. Was quality in his day and still has a lot to offer. A bit saucy but you need one or two in your team like him. All in all a good signing bella!!!
Those odds are a bit weird to say the least, Ballypheane are quoted as 80/1 last time I looked. Fairly short odds for a club that doesn't exist...
Separate note it'll be interesting to see the make up of the divisions, there are quite a few teams gone now...
Also Casement, I'm just trying to get it clear. The former 2nd team (AUL), i suppose squad is better than team. The AUL squad is now playing MSL and the MSL squad is going to the AUL? Am I correct in that. Will there not be problems as I thought in one of your posts you said there were only about 5 showing up for training for the MSL squad, or is there another team/squad training as well... Sorry for the confusion...
Its complicated inish even for a guy involved in the club but here goes, its lasts years Seniors who will be playing Junior this season not the 5 lads who Minty brought to training the past few weeks. The commitee was working on getting a league for another team(last years seniors) which is the lads who got the club out of a major hole last season when moving from AUL 2 up to MSL to save Senior status. These lads were not Senior players bar 1 or 2 but worked hard all season and stuck together and buying the club precious time to fix the mistake of not sussing out the manager they appointed at the start of the season so the committe decided the least they could do was keep them in the club and making up a new team for them but with Minty not being able to get his team going there was no need to start another team meaning they replaced Niall Harringtons side in AUL 2. Think that should clear it up ;)
Cheers, I think... I either understand it fully now or else I'm even more confused .
Anyway, for now Casement Celtic should have 1 team playing MSL Senior 2nd Division and 1 team playing AUL 2? Yes?
A question not specifically aimed at Casement, but could be possibly answered by them. Why when a team joins or is a member of the MSL can/do they have a junior team playing AUL and not MSL junior? Examples, Lakewood, Casement, Ballinhassig, Ballincollig, Castleview, Leeds, Passage, probably others as well...
Hi anyone know if they've released the league structure/list for next season or when they will be released?
With the various clubs folding mid-season last year there will need to be a little bit of re-structuring going on...
Well, we went back tonight with 17. Delighted with the turnout and the few new faces played well.
Littleman, is Minty going to take the AUL job?
Any news on the 5 players he had, specifically Jason Keegan?
Those who are back a fortnight - has any players packed it in already?
how do all? enjoy the bit of a break?
we all looking forward to the new season?
any one with a blarney street affiliation confirm the manager has departed?
bit of a bombshell if true at the very start to the season.
It now looks like the senior team from last year will be playing MSL junior with the AUL 2 team going MSL senior. So no AUL team from casement?? We're not sure ourselves. If so then i know the AUL will miss out on using Casement Park for the Oscar Traynor games.
Yoda sounds like what I'v heard as well, manager stepped down last monday. from what I heard in the Anglers.
I agree with ya Yoda.I thought Power was a good prospect. Not many younger lads taken the plunge an he seemed to be very interested in improving things with the Street.Sorry to see him go.
Thats a story I didnt expect to hear. Best of luck to Mr Power and to Blarney Street.
Two recent candidates for the AUL job?
Not going to speculate about Blarney Street as i'm sure someone will have the inside story but nothing surprises me anymore - football including junior football is a funny place
So am i right in saying so far that
Glenthorn , Blarney Street, Knockavilla and Grattam will all have new management teams for the season ahead - did i miss anyone else there in the Premier?? interesting times ahead!!
To nites norrie news comes live from the Mercy A an E where im waitin with Shinkwin to get his bleeding head stitched up.His head had a meeting with Brian Sulls teeth an came off the worse. The joys of management,it dont just finish when you lock the gates to the pitch.Sully just rang to see if we'er ok an to tell us his teeth are ok. Its a weight off me an Shinkys mind knowin his choppers are ok.
All jokes aside the lads pre season is goin great for the Gratts an the lads are really puttin it in. A few games lined up ana few surprise shoppin gifts may yet find their way up to O'Neill Park.
.
Well lads any news floatin about, pre season
Littleman
Was up your way the other day, your pitch and facilities are looking very good. look forward to coming up there for a titanic battle! the season is nearly upon us looking forward to it ;)
pre season friendly:
blarney st v castleview at the fairfield
sat i think its on at half 2
league structures still not ready from what i hear. leeside second team today asked to go premier a for the coming season. so i say there will be teams throughout all leagues asked to make a jump up for the season
well they needed to find 2 teams to make up the Premier A numbers, I think the word at the end of the season was Greenmount would go up as runners up in Div 1 (remember controversy over match abandoned with 1 minute left to play).
The next best 1st division sides in terms of points would have been Buttevant & Richmond in 1 & 1A runners up on 35, strange there are 3 other division 1 teams (Ballyvolane, Rylane and Postal Celtic) that accumulated more points than Leeside B, oh yeah just spotted They'd hardly promote Ballyvolane as their 1st team is Premier A anyway.
I don't know if other teams have been asked/offered but it'd be interesting to see what others think. Should they look at relegated teams???
League structures will have to be modified a lot as those 1st divisions that provide the teams will need to find an extra team to make the 10 team divisions. I do think this is a good format, to have as many divisions as possible 10 team ones as it leads to less of a fixture congestion at the end of the season.
Lads i'd say it will be a while before we know the league formats! Looking at the MSL forum there it was suggested that Passage are amalgamating their two AUL sides - Also Lee Rangers, Albert Rovers, Dunbar B, Glenthorn Celtic B and 2 Casement teams it seems are gone from last year so it looks like it wont be an easy job to organise this season!! I also have a feeling there will be a few more to add to that list!
And of course not forgetting Ballyphehane and Villa
Heard from a reliable source that Blackstone were asked to go Prem A by the AUL.
Looks like Prem A will consist of 12 teams, the 5 that remain from last season + 7 up from the 3 1st devisions.
Question for ye lads.....
Do many clubs take on the services of a fitness professionals/personal trainers to run their pre-season physical training or would there even be any interest at all in it?
That's a lot of league games (22) for teams that will probably all enter FAI and MJC with the hopes of getting to the "out of town" rounds. Add in the AOH and Mossie cups the Premier A season could be running for ages (throw in the weather we're currently having).
I'll be honest I thought the 10 team divisions was a very good thing.
All the best to Blackstone, I saw ye last year and have to admit looked a very strong outfit. If ye've added to that I could really see ye challenging.
We've done it for the last two years and it's been very beneficial in my opinion. Training is varied and tough but you know you're doing the right stuff. If you have fellas who are qualified to do it inside the club then great, if not i'd try and get someone in who knows what they are doing to prepare your team properly. Perhaps give you a blue print for the season.
Last night we received a call asking if we would like to play Premier A next season. We decided to accept the offer. The board, managers & players are all very excited at the prospect.
I dont think the AUL intend to have a 12 team division, so some of those offered before us must have turned it down.
My mother summed it up best on the phone: " I heard ye are in the Premiership"...........................Bring it on!!
