It'd be McGrath for me, could cover in both midfield and centre half, total legend and the best player I've seen perform for Ireland and I include Brady during the 80's in that. Only caught the tail end of Giles' appearances so discounting him.

definitely roy keane...he would be the perfect midfield general for this current squad who seem to have plenty of ability but really lack a midfield leader
niall quinn like it or not a big man is useful especially as a sub if you need a goal late in a game.There were a few countries this summer that could have done with a big man when they needed a late goal.
Got to be Roy Keane, if only for his influence on other players.
Would we have we lost 5-2 to cyprus with Keane in the team? I doubt it.
Plus central midfiled is somewhere where we could do with a true world
class player and he would be able to cover for weaknesses elsewhere.
