its all speculation for now anyways, because to be honest, owing to compensation issues, and to put it bluntly, fai stubborness, stan is going nowhere methinks. he'll get at least one more campaign, unless we lose by huge margins in the last 3 qualifiers.
Stan was the first, and only person interviewed last time out.
All other scheduled interviews were cancelled after Stan's apparent earthshattering performance in his audition for the job.
Complete farce. Frank Stapelton was one who had an interview scheduled only to be rang to say it was cancelled, and subsequently had a good auld public rant at the FAI for it
Not to mention all the hot air about using an international headhunting / search firm.
When Delaney was asked if he had even contacted Martin O'Neill, as far as I can remember he responded by saying Mickey Walsh had spoken to a friend of O'Neill's.
Is this the same Martin O'Neill who signed Shaun Maloney from Celtic? Good judge of a player, ok :p
Actually, I would have liked O'Neill as a manager but he didn't apply for the job it would appear. In fact did anyone other than Stan make a serious application?

For me its simple Leo Baenhaaker. He has coached top players and has coached average players and done well with both. He has worked at Madrid Holland Trinindad and Tobago and now Poland. He would not be expensive as there is no way the Polish FA have more money than the FAI. He also speaks English and his record is top class. We should ask him to take the job after Euro 2008. Simple as that.

Leo Beenhakker (born August 2, 1942 in Rotterdam, Zuid-Holland) is an international Dutch football coach, currently the coach of the Polish national team.
He has been the coach of several prestigious clubs including Ajax, Feyenoord, Real Madrid, Real Zaragoza and Club América. He has also coached the Saudi Arabian and Dutch national teams. He coached the national team of Trinidad and Tobago in the year leading up to the 2006 FIFA World Cup. Under Beenhakker's guidance the team managed to qualify for the 2006 World Cup, where the team secured a (goalless) draw against Sweden in its first match of the 2006 FIFA World Cup, and gave England cause for concern in the second match.
From 2000 to 2003 Beenhakker was Director of Technical Affairs with Ajax. In that period he fired coach Co Adriaanse and replaced him with Ronald Koeman.
Because he has been active in Spanish football he has the nickname "Don Leo". He is famous for his fondness of cigars and his dry humor.
On 11 July 2006 Leo Beenhakker was appointed as the manager of the Polish national football team.
Feyenoord hired him on 5 May 2007 to coach the team through the 2006/2007 play-offs.
He reportedly speaks Dutch, English, German, Italian, Portuguese and Spanish
In a conversation last week with a former international I suggested Warnock as a replacement. His immediate reaction was a look of horror but as his merits were discussed the guy agreed that it could work. Experience and discipline at least. :DQuote:

Yes, he was offered the job full time after this year's euro champs I think. He definitely would not have been an answer for us.
A pundit I always respect is David Pleat. He could have filled the gap left by Robson's absences.

Is this another wind up? Warnock, Jewell and Pleat? The latter almost single-handedly led the Owls to oblivion (but talks the talk), the middle one was aptly described by Wolfie and hates Wednesday while the former led Wednesday on a charge to relegation. Ok, Jack Charlton, Ireland's most successful manager, was also a successful Wednesday manager but note the word "successful".Quote:
