Played rugby in a thunderstorm 3-4 years ago and it was much more fun than normal rugby even though we were all tired as hell as this was our fourth game in two days. Jumping from 10 yards out and sliding in for the try is great :D
Not sure whether there was thunder near Westport on the 24th July, but there was thunder alright today. I didn't hear the 6:30 storm but the 8:25 one woke me up with three quickfire raps of thunder. There was thunder again between 5-5:20 this eveing and there was a classic of a C-C bolt of lightning that went across the sky from right to left to our south. I got tipped off about the storm so I moved to the front of the pub to get a look and I was duly rewarded!!:D Absolutely class!!:D
Good to hear from you, Mr Blaster. I see you've still got an almost fundamentalist zeal to the detail your provide in relation to all thunder related incidents you report.
Are these extracts from a 200 strong volume of "The Thunder Diaries 1972 to ..........."
I'm waiting for the day when an account trails into:
"There was thunder again between 5-5:20 this eveing and there was a classic of a C-C bolt of lightning that went across the sky from right to left to our south. Went to the fridge. Eat some census takers liver, washed down with a nice cianti" :D
And another entry into The Thunder Diaries for you Wolfie!!
There was thunder this evening with two raps, the first was at 7:39 and the second was at 7:41. Didn't see the lightning as I was busy doing my homework.
Nice few flashes in Galway last night, just near Oranmore actually.
Thee best ever storm i seen was in nyc one evening, ive never felt so insignificant, small and helpless as i did that time.Thought the world was ending with how loud and frequent the thunder was and the lightning was was a mix of sheet and fork and lit up the sky for 30mins.Even my relatives there who've seen many a storm said that one was a biggie. They were talking about it on New York 1 news channell the following day.

Happy New Year Wolfie. No thunderstorms to report as we are under an area of High pressure with low temperatures and blue skies here in Liverpool. The only thunder today would be a loud f@rt!!:D:D:D
The Thunder Diaries of 2009 has got its opening entries.:D There was thunder last night before midnight and there was thunder this morning just before 11:00. An amateur weather atation in Straide recorded 14 thunder days last year.
Was wandering home from the pub last night with my auld fella and as we got within sight of the house the sky lit up with lightning!
Also the strong winds broke our satellite dish so no tv for over 24 hours now........havn't gone mental yet!

During the Kennedy Cup in Limerick, we had a few rumbles of thunder on the evening of the 15th June. There was thunder in Westport on the evening of 23rd June during a shower. I missed the worst thunderstorm that I ever missed on the 2nd July:(. I was in Belfast and I was duly told that there was booming thunder, fork (CG) lightning and torrential rain that caused flooding and landslides and it went on for a few hours. A football match got abandoned at half time. I missed the thunder of 5th July but was around for the thunder of the 6th July. I missed out on the thunder of the 14th July. What about the thunderstorm in Dublin on the 2nd July? Did Wolfie add it to his collection of thunderstorms on the Wolfie Thunderstorm Diary of 2009??:D
That was a pretty frightening one in Dublin, alright. The thunder was ear-splitting and the volume of rain which accompanied it was immense. Woke me up around 5 am.
Great photos SI. That was one volcano to stay away from...
