Sports Stadium only got interesting when they started having live Premiership on a Saturday afternoon. I was brought up and reared on Grandstand. David Coleman and Frank Bough were the earliest presenters I remember. The boat race, the Grand National, Wimbledon, Test Matches, rugby internationals - it had it all and of course the teleprinter for the soccer results
Followed shortly by "The Monkees"  & Dr Who:DQuote:

So farewell then Richard McIlkenny, one of the Birmingham 6, wrongly imprisoned for 16 years. Beaten for 3 days by the police until he signed a confession and even then the confession was tampered with.

So farewell then..... Aaron Spelling. Charlie's Angels was one of his shows. Farah Fawcett was my favourite of the three.
Pity he had to engage in nepotism and get his ugly daughter a lead part in one of his shows (Beverly Hills 909 or something like that).
So farewell then Freddie Trueman, one of the greatest fast bowlers to play cricket.
Vere Wynne-Jones after a long illness.
Farewell Steve Irwin, Aussie croc-hunter and TV personality/general madman..
