It's great when people haven't a clue what they are talking about ..lol. the NLEC is an independent 7 man committee that are supposed to vote in the best interests of Irish football. Not the premier league best interests or the first division or the underage. The vote was 5 to 2 so even if the rovers rep had voted the other way it would still have been carried. The express purpose of the NLEC is to decide on issues putting self interest aside.Quote:

It was self interest from your mate Byrne that swung the vote and looked after your club and your club only. Spin it whatever way you want.
Anyway, the way it's going the FAI will have to overrule the vote.
Jonathan Roche was just on off the ball and pointed out that basically everything the Sligo idiot said was bull****. There was no vote on which proposal to support 9/10 clubs simply said that they liked the proposal, that's a completely different thing. 3/10 clubs also switched to that opinion just to make it a unity in numbers thing, well that worked didn't it.
The NLEC members are also not mandated to have the same view as their own club nevermind the league. They are on the board to use their own individual judgement to decide what action they think is best for the league.
And still there's not a single sentence to back up how it was in Rovers self interest to vote that way...
Bit funny accusing rovers of self interest for voting against the self interest of Sligo and Waterford who are just trying to save their skins and to he'll with Galway drogs etc.
Go and read up on the simple rules and objectives
of the NLEC rather than keep banging on.

I can fully understand cork, pats, Harps, waterford and sligo voting for only 1 down But what about bohs, derry, dundalk and shels? You'd think the PD and FD were barely tied together at all. Any club in the top tier - and I mean any club - could find themselves in the lower tier very quickly. We've all seen it happen. Turning your nose up at their opinions is just begging for karmic retribution.
Relegation had to remain if the league were to resume from where it was, therefore Dundalk's (start from scratch) position was rational if relegation was to be removed.Quote:

Personally I think Dundalk's current self interests are better served with the original relegation format, not one up one down.
I'd see it more as a vote of PD solidarity, that a 50% truncated schedule in an imposed economic crisis now alters issues (of survival?) to some other of the PD clubs and reducing the threat of relegation offers some relief.
I don't know what Shamrock R's. motivation was, but in itself breaking with solidarity is a dubious move.

I understand the divisions between the two leagues but dont forget its not that long ago that us,Finn Harps,Bray and Drogheda Utd had sustained spells in the top flight and we all deserve a equal say. Fair play to Shamrock Rovers for backing us they know what its to be in the first Division.
As was pointed out before Cork,Derry nearly went to the wall and went down. Bohs nearly went down over 20 years ago. Its an easy thing to happen.
There's no right or wrong answer in this,everyone's opinion is shaped by what's better for them and their situation,if Longford and Harps position's were reversed their stance's would likely be reversed etc etc etc.
I hope relegation/promotion keeps the same format it was at the start of the season,look at the UK where the likes of Hearts and Tranmere were relegated in far worse circumstances than anything that will happen here,time to play and see where the card's fall........
