Apologies for hijacking this thread (Mods please move/delete if necessary), but to put the efforts of Irish clubs, North and South, into perspective, I enjoyed this post from a Crues fan on another forum.
"Undeniably our greatest ever European performance. Night soured by, to put it simply, an absolute moron of a referee but let's face it, it was already an extremely tall order when the draw was made and to go unbeaten against this team in 90 minutes home and away across 2 games and dominating them the way we did at Seaview is nothing short of incredible.
Let's just remember though just to put it into perspective, we are a wee side from the Shore Road that started out in a pub in Tiger's Bay in 1898 and used to get changed in a laundry room because it was the only warm place we could find in the winter. For the majority of our history we were playing on park pitches with barely a pot to **** in. We still have a big chunk of part timers, we have lads in the squad that spend their Saturday nights at the Harp Bar and surrounding areas, our arguably greatest ever player who scored tonight is a lad from the Andytown Road who runs a door and window fitting company in Newtownabbey with his dad. Not too long ago our away attendance was comprised of a couple of committee members and the odd dog. To this day we still hold the record of being on the end of the heaviest defeat in the history of European football (11-0).
Tonight we went toe to toe with the most successful team in one of the top 20 professional football leagues in Europe on their own patch, who have regularly played at the very highest level of the sport in the Champions League beating some of the most successful teams in club football on the way. On another day if the ball drops slightly differently on 1 or 2 occasions, we knock them out. I don't think it's fully appreciated even sometimes by our own selves just how far we've came as a club in recent years and we still aren't done yet going by showings like that. All of this done too without a sugar daddy like the IFA, Kenny Bruce or Ali Pour pumping us full of money, no handouts from anyone, no one but our own fans, working class people from the area, coming in to save us when we were on the brink of liquidation in 2005. It was all done on our own merit.

Reason for the change is that we need 4.5k seats in the Brandywell, we only have 3.7k. With the new safe standing terrace going in over the winter, it won't be an issue in the future.
Very enjoyable trip to Kuopio. Strange town, it's a grid and quite compact. Lovely setting, surrounded by lakes and endless trees. Winters are brutal according to the locals, who were lovely and much more chatty than Helsinki people. Pint prices varied widely, but we settled in one spot doing litre steins for €9.20; cheaper than back home.

Kazakhstan isn't so much of a nightmare logistically as it is cost-wise. Initial quotes for a charter seemed to be €300k plus. Though UEFA give an extra €20k for such distances, generous. Only know of one fan going so far, living in Moscow.
There was an interesting piece in the sun on that Derry game. Club coefficient was huge in thef finnish clubs favour! Some coup for Derry City delighted for them. Think momentum in the league is in their favour at long last!
If you look through the draw for the non champions path, it is one of the better draws compared to other sides they could have gotten. It won’t be easy at all but they will have a chance I think, especially if they perform like they did against KuPS. The win over Basel was definitely Tobol’s biggest win in Europe and they had a large slice of luck in the 1st leg playing against 9 men. Time for one of our sides to win one of these 3rd round ties to get into the PO Round.Quote:

Parking is fine, loads of spaces at the Brandywell.
The floodlights aren't up to the required lux, but many grounds of top teams aren't, and there's a way around it.
Category 4 is a different story again.
Mind you, there seems to be all sorts of relaxations of requirements you can get. So essentially the only problem for this Tobol match was the seating.
Changes are coming on this front from next season onwards, which is will make things easier for smaller clubs, so good news there.
KA not impressed with Oriel - a pigsty with an awful pitch apparently.
