There must be some amount of money in the coffers if over 200k can go missing and not be missed. What kind of systems were in place? You have to ask the question, are the right people running the organisation?

I think if your blaming the echo or J. Mchale your blaming the wrong people View. Whether the figures are right or wrong they the (AUL) deserve it, it might be the shake up thats needed, if this was a government department we ld all be on the streets. Not too sure what you meant by "OUR", you might be so kind as to elaborate, is it not his job as a sports editor to report such things.
The major point lads for me is this amount of money when it was available should have been distributed among the clubs to improve facilities and playing conditions for all well run clubs throughout the leagues.
i agree totally with the last statement of the finances should be there to improve facilities for clubs etc, if they had this kind of money why didnt they want to have their own base and facilities so they could even hire out to clubs who were struggling for facilities of their own. Better Facilities = Better players.
Ridicolous carry on from the people in charge of the AUL and not only is teh man that signed the cheques but also for the rest of the AUL committee for letting this happen and thye are there too long anyway and are men that are not very helpfull either, they should be step down and should be embarrassed and give the chance to new younger blood that might want to be involved.
Inswinger just having a rant, only found out the details from our delegates at training last night. Obviously not blaming the echo. With regards to McHale he played with us.
Can you explain what you mean by they (AUL) deserved it. Do you realise the AUL League is all the clubs together not the 10 or 12 people voted on to the Committee. So what you're actually saying, wether you realise or not, is we all deserved it. The missing money is belong to the clubs.
With regards to improving facilities I know Castleview have recieved lots of grants from the AUL over the years. We had applied for 1 recently to finish a new training area but thats now knocked on the head. Lots of other clubs have got grants over the years. The bulk of the money in the kitty was from the sale of Church Road years ago.

Better Facilities = Better players.Woah JA023 & others - you gonna go on the committee? Are you saying you know people who do? Not once at the meeting was resigned asked for by any of the many speakers. What do you suggest is the next step if all members stepped down the other night?

No-one is more embarrased than those VOLUNTEERS on the committee. Always been helpful to our club and many more. I have loudly disagreed with them on many things and still do. But unhelpful is an allegation that can never be thrown at them.
Dunno if you were at the meeting the other night (by the way 20/30 clubs not represented...............a joke.............no way could you not take that meeting notification seriously) but the chairman looked like the wieght of the world was on his shoulders. It must be remembered it was his mate who is alleged to have done this, their trust was shattered.
They did the same thing that is done week in week out in many clubs just on a bigger scale. I am at a committee meeting every week and the treasurer's word is taken. I trust him, just like they did.
Were they not right not to purchase land during the last 10 years, but I do agree that it was money that should have been used more? If the syphoning of money is going on 9 years, than maybe the alleged pilferer was strongly against using the money? I know his opinion was well respected.
Blackstone Rovers 1 v 1 Village.
Probably is a fair result and I think we will take the point after two defeats on the spin and the hammering last week. Workrate was up 100% from last week which was great to see and the Village sub keeper pulled off 4 top drawer saves before we took the lead on 42. The equaliser was one of those frees from far out that avoids everyone and finds its way to the net. Disapointing. They had chances and so did we. The Douglas influence is gone from the squad. A good side and I cant work out how they are down where they are. Fast, skillful and honest. Ref was good today too. Kept his cards in his pocket until he had to draw them.
Ouch Scaff - dunno if ye have won since you used the word "slide" in relation to us. Going into next season, no-one will want to win their first few games in Prem A!!
Still gotta root for the norries!!
Pearse 1 -0 Bohs
Oh god where do i start another 3 points dropped when really we should have won this game or at least got a draw.
Guilty again of missed chances and giving away a stupid goal
On the game started like a train and passed the ball around a glorious surface for the first 20 mins Pearse could nt get near the ball. But then it went wrong in a split second after a great move through the middle by our midfielders instead of being 1 on 1 with the Pearse keeper a sloppy ball from our player led to ball over the top Pearse forward makes it 1 nil totally against the run of play.
We picked up again and got a great chance after a cross into the Pearse box our centre forward hits the post.
I myself was guilty of missing another chance just before half time when i headed from 7 yards with keeper saving when really i should have stuck it!!!
2nd half we started going at them again but infairness to the Pearse defenders they were defending brilliantly and looking to pass there way out and trying to catch us on the break and nearly catching us once or twice. We changed our system with a few subs and went 3 up front and it nearly worked when our forward went 1 on 1 but put the ball over the bar when really it should have been the leveller. We created another couple of half chances but Pearse held out bravely and got all 3 points.Gutted with the result considering we really could have had all 3 points ourselves but we need to pick ourselves up for another difficult cup tie next week against Springfield
Completely agree with what you said Horse24.
JA023 what you're saying is ridiculous. Bring in new young blood, from where? There certainly isn't a queue to join the AUL Committee. To take on so much work and responibility for no pay, these guys are volunteers. I think yourself and inswinger should join the committee.:)
After what has gone on at AUL management level in last few days my advice to all posting on this forum is to back off. What has happened has happened and there is nothing can be done to get back that money. But let the investigation proceed and let Cork football be a winner. I feel very sorry for all concerend.
Glenbuck completely understand what you're saying, it's a very sesitive issue for the people involved.
Just to clarify a few points, I wouldn't say nothing can be done to get the money back, this avenue is being explored.
Also the investigation under way is by the fraud squad. The AUL and its solicitors in conjunction with the FAI have been coordinating an investigation for the past 12 months, when they first realised something was wrong. I would have a little knowledge about the legal side of things and I know that the league would have to have a thorough investigation complete before the fraud squad would get involved. Because of legal reasons only some of these facts could be released at their meeting on Thurs.
The AUL spoke with the auditor, both banks involved and even a third party who confirmed they recieved 55k of the missing AUL money. They know of 2 cheques for 55k & 50k and who's signature was on them. These are all facts arising from the AUL/FAI investigation.
Its a terrible situation for all involved but the correct course of action seems is being followed. Not going to post on this again. All clubs should try and pull together to help the league get through this situation.
Away to Leeds tomorrow, hopefully a better result and display than last week. Prem A produced some strange results again today.
Macroom 6 vs grattan 0
Springfield beaten 3 1. Great cup run though.
View what i meant by the Aul "deserved it" was just in relation to the news making the paper as i thought you were having a pop off the echo for reporting the news. Thats all my man, i know there s alot of good people doing good work at committe level, i was nt at the meeting so not going to comment any more on the matter and the legal system will get to the bottom of the matter. Defo not interested in joining any committee, not for me!!
Ballyvolane 0 Blarney St Ath 2
Good win this week for us up in Ballyvolane Pk. We were missing a few but those who came in done there job and we gota tough win. Started out playing into the wind we we knew was gonna be tough so we would have been happy with nil all at the half. No great chances a few half chances. Got a penalety with 5 left in the 1st . Eddie Kenny stepped up Dermot o Brien tipped it on to the post and rebounded into his hands. It was some sprint back I can tell ya!!!:p Said to oursleves just because we have the wind doenst mean we are are vgoona get 3 points. Settled well , knocked it about with a few good tackles from Paul O Keeffe and Bopper at the back for them. Break through came from a long kick u[ the field Lawernce Betts added to it and Gary Coughlan ran on and once again knocked it over the on coming keepers head. {he must be watching a few Raul videos of late} Scored the 2nd 10 minutes later. Jp done well in the middle played a through ball in and Simonj Deady ran on to it and finished it with great composure. Finished that way.
Park at home next week so as we said a few weeks ago taking every game as it comes, Should have a few back for it to
On the Aul Finances situation , I attended the meeting and genuienly feel sorry for all those on the top table. Some of them looked a shadow of there formerselves. With the investigation going on and would think it should not be discussed anymore on this for 1 and one of us mentioned anything incrimanating and 2 we are all innocent till proven guilty
Coachford 2 Park 1
Delighted with another 3 points, fully deserved it, even after being one down since the first half, poor goal to give away on our part ,good finish though from their midfielder Dave Dineen. Never stopped pressing particulary in the second half, we re making a habit of coming back in games which is a good sign, our fitness levels and having good players coming on to make a difference is a great credit to the squad. Danny Dunne equalised with a typical poachers goal with 15 to go and we shortly added a second through Aidan Buckley who had come into the action in the second half.
Pitch was heavy which did nt help either side, more so ourselves as Park are a big strong team. Their league position is very false, they lost their ginger haired centre half through injury. Excellent player do nt know his name. Be a plus next week for ye if he cant play next week Cas. Wilton drew with Knockavilla, 2 good draws for them on the road now they look to be improving as the season is going on. more ground made up on Wilton, just need Leeside and Kinsale to start taking points of each other, win all our games and the league is ours!!
If only it were that easy!
Greenwood 6 Kanturk 2
Was one of worst performances of the year by us,not taking anything away from greenwood whos finishing was top notch!
6-2 definaly flattered them, there keeper made 2 of the best saves ive seen in a long time!
3nil down at half time!
I do think they will go on to win premier,i no kilumney will have a say in it,but the games will catch up with them!
Not ruling out bohs either!
5 games left now starting with leeds, hoping to consolidate in the league, dont want to be dragged into a relagation battle!
Anybody why theres no fixtures patricks day??
we are playing leeside thursday morning alright don it was down for sunday..
Ballynanty 3 - 1 Springfield. FAI JNR CUP.
Game of two halfs really ... I thought!. Bally had the fair share of possession during the first half but really only threatened and tested our keeper once aside from the penalty.
We could/should easily avoided conceeding the penalty, indecision between centre half & keeper in deciding who should clear the ball lead to Bally striker nipping in and attempting to round our keeper who had no choice but to bring him down to avoid a tap in. No qualms here - defo spotter!. Well taken aswell-down to keepers bottom right, he had no chance - peno was inch perfect. In 1down at half time but knew if we got one we could pip them.
Second half we owned majority of the possesesion and scored with header from corner. 1-1 back in the game!.
Not going to say we lost game cos of officials but it certainly does help when their hometown officials(cant understand why Fai didnt bring in some from say Tipp or Clare), and when u have the home team on first name terms with Referee ('Robbie this and Robbie that'') - it does help a bit.
Their tall striker scored with header from corner(see below) . . . but my opinion he shouldnt have been on the pitch. Prior to this he levelled one of our centre halfs with a blatant elbow challanging for a header. Defo a red card, but hometown ref only gave a yellow. Linesman nearest had perfect view but never spoke up!!! - perhaps it was the home support behind him he was frightened of.
Couple of mins later Bally got a corner which wasnt a corner (came back of Bally striker after our keeper block at his feet). This is where their tall striker scored. Some say it was 50/50 whether ball crossed the line but my opinion it did!.
Bally last goal could have been avoided, poor defending on the bye-line, which allowed their sub ghost into our box and finish at near post.
Bally did miss(bad miss) a spotter with 5mins to go, but game was over at this stage. Springfield had resigned themselves to the loss at thhis stage and were sick to the death of the tendancy of the officials to side with home team on decisions.
Finally, best of Luck to Bally in the next round.

hard fought game in little island this morning, leeside having more of the ball in the 1st half chance were hard to come by until a missed place pass from our left back gave it away delea and getting with a net one two cant remember who scored took it well 1-0 leeside.2nd half half taught we came more into it had the better chances of the two.their keeper made a great save from our center midfielder snaz on the volley.ad a free kick great block from condon rebound fell to us another great block from the other center half.nearly snatched a point with minutes to go but our center half put it over..felt we deserved a point at least..
8games to go 5 at home 3 away coming back into a bit form very unlucky against kinsale good win last weekend and unlucky again today..top 5 is still looking good for our 1st year witch wouldnt be bad..
Very quiet on here lately! So who have being the stand out players for people this season. I would say Holden(Macroom), Gettings & Condon(Leeside) have being the best i've seen so far. Anybody else want to add to the list?

Blarney St Ath 3 Park Utd 2
A game for the neutral!!! Had everything.
Welcomed back Damien Peelo and Niall Dalton but in the same breath Neil Greany and Gary Nolan were both away this weekend. Willie Big Bang Casey taking a few Cork Supporters with him. Started out brightly got the ball down and tried playing around Park, There Centre Half was very good and put a stop to a lot of what we trying to do in the last 3rd. Park got into it after around 20 mins, ball over the top, in to the corner ,our full back pulled on it and connected with the on coming winger. Eamonn O Sullivan took it and blew it acroos the goal. We took the lead through some good work down the left by Timmy Kelly played into the middle and Lawerence Betts gave in a defence splitting ball , which Gary Coughlan ran onto and finished with good composure. Park got a few corners and eventually one went in. Ball was whipped in and a slight tough from one of our players put it pass Eddie and Timmy on the line. 1 all. We gave away too many free kicks too but conditions were getting bad and the pitch was turning into an ice rink. Took the lead once again shot from Betts ,the keeper saved and Alan O Brien ran in, too shall way say bundle it over!!! It hit his chest, knee and then a diving header to put it in!!;). 5 left in the half and we were saying to ourselves get in 2-1 up and a big wind behind us in the 2nd, wishfull thinking! Gave away another free kick on the edge of the box. Eamonn stepped up once again , Eddie saved it but the follow in was knocked in. Ref blew up for the end of the half and it was 2-2.
We centred for the 2nd put the ball out to the right Jp whipped it in and it went to far, Simon got it turned in on his right and hit it in to the bottom corner. 2-2 with 30 seconds gone in the 2nd half. We seemed to sit back and try to catch them on the break. Park had another free but put it over the bar. Park recieved a penalty with 15 to go, Darren Lynch took it but Eddie saved. Brought on GaryLleahy with 10 to try hold it up front which he done very well. Was unlucky not to score with a good header to the bottom corner but the Park Keeper got down well . Finished 3-2 to the Street and thats 12 points from 12 this month but a huge game next week at home to Leeside on Saturday at 3pm.
AOH CUP
Bohemians 1-3 Springfield A.E.T
Scoreline does not do us any justice turning point in the game came 5 mins into the 1st half of extra time when our player was judged to have handled the ball on the line recieved a red card and penalty awarded to Springfield which they scored
On the game Springers took the lead after a mistake from our Keeper who was playing his 1st game of the season in for the injured Tommy Martin good volley from the Springers man but should have been easy enough to catch but with the increasing rain making the ball very slippy the ball slips from his grasp into the net.Disaster as the game was even enough ..........
Came into half time still 1 down but felt the game was there still for us.
2nd half we started well had Springers on the backfoot and got our reward on 65 mins when Trevor Hallisey who was having a blinder of a game swung in a great corner and Deccie Gostal knocked in from 6 yards to make it 1-1.......
Couple of half chances for both sides but the ref blew to send the game into extra time.
As i said above the turning point happened half way through this half with the sending off and the peno stayed 2-1 till the end of the 1st half.
2nd half we went out and attacked got a half chance with 2 mins ago but got caught on the break for the springers man to finish of the game with the 3rd goal
Dissapointed with the result missing a few players through injuries and suspensions but felt we could have taken this game only for that one incident that changed the whole game on his head ........best of luck to Springfield in the next round
Leeds 3 Kanturk 5
Cracking game up in ballyvolane dis morning!
Went down a goal after about 40seconds,i was like hear we go again!Showed good character to score 3 before the half!
Leeds pulled 1 back after the half,3-2,we made it 4-2,4-3,5-3!we missed peno aswell!
Leeds could have scored 5,we could have got 10,very open game!
On the pitch,1 of the best surfaces ive played on,wel done leeds on that, big difference than greenwoods pitch!
27 goals in 4 premier A games today!kilumney not giving up!
Wouldn't normally complain about refs - theirs is a thankless task - but after 30 years of playing football, think I saw a new one today.
Be interested to hear what anyone thinks. Last minute, one down, ball into box, centre half climbing all over attacker. Think Hierro on Quinny 2002. Loud appeals. Whistle goes.
The verdict? An indirect free kick in the box. Why ref, ask both sides. "Pushing" he confirms.
Astonishing. As Law 12 confirms, an indirect free kick can be awarded in the penalty area if a player "impedes the progress of an opponent" but this can only be the verdict if there is no contact between the players.
I thought giving an indirect free kick for "not-deliberate" handball was the worst I ever saw, but this one takes the honours I think.
Saw one in last few weeks who gave an indirect free kick for obstruction. Fair enough I hear you say. "Referee" says one of the lads on the line, "the player was tripped". "Thats right" says the man in the middle, "his run was obstructed by the trip" . Incredible. Grant it,it was a schoolboy game but the official is reffing years.
Amen you are talking about refereeing...just came on to drag the whole thing off topic.
Just joined the referee branch in Auckland, I cannot wait to get back into it.
Can't remark on the Cork branch wasn't a member while I refereed last season. Structure here is very good. Training every Monday and Thursday and weekly meetings on the rules. They also run exchange programmes here for referees to go to the UK, Australia and America.
They have independent booklets which gives examples of how and how not to apply the rules. Basic stuff I know but its really helpful.
We also have the power here to issue two red cards to the one player with the second red card carrying a minimum three match ban.
