I've been watching this on Netflix. It starts out as a procedural with a nice gimmick, and after about a season evolves into one of the best scifi shows I've ever seen. It's an action show in the foreground, but underneath it's all about the ethics of mass surveillance and AI.Quote:

Black Mirror Season 3: Thought it was really groundbreaking television. From the special effects, to the acting, to the fantastic story lines, this really has it all. Compelling viewing and with each episode around an hour to an hour and a half in length, there's plenty of viewing in the 6 episodes to keep you going and each feels like a short film in itself. Charlie Brooker has outdone himself this time. The only gripe I have is the ever so slightly repetitive theme throughout. Still, it's hardly worth complaining about when the story was so damn good.
The OA: I'm halfway through this one on Netflix and I'm glued to it. This years Stranger Things. Hard to describe it without giving much away, but after a slightly difficult to understand beginning, it really unravels after the second episode and it's really incredible stuff again. Well worth a watch.
Beat Bugs: This one is a bit outside the box, but anyone with kids that like a bit of television, this is superb. A Netflix original cartoon based entirely around the music of the Beatles. This one is well worth a look, even just for the arrangements of the Beatles songs. My 3 year old is loving it and he's running around signing Beatles songs as a result. And what a result!
I loved Black Mirror Season 3. The computer game one was the one that freaked me out the most. Class TV.
Finished up Nobel on Netflix, a norwegian political/war drama. Really well acted, decent story line. Would recommend.
Will have to check out OA.

Yeah the wife and I have watched it. Crazy stuff alright. Amazing to see some of the folks who were the bad guys in documentaries like Going Clear etc now on the other side. It's incredible that they get away with the stuff they do.
Yeah, exactly like Rinder was the worst guy and now it seems like he feels really bad about it. People are like how does this happen? Well she was 9 years old and 9 year olds believe what their parents tell them. Or step parent I guess in her case. If you have a chance watch the clip from last week when she was on Conan.

A very compelling drama about a corrupt FBI agent and a trio of unlikely colleagues who are trying to launch a new tech company. Set in Miami.
Myself and herself finished the first season last night and it's excellent and an easy watch. It's been renewed for a second season.

A few yrs back the Times mag took pictures of all the MREs of the various countries over there....I remember France was the tastiest looking. Norway looked really weird to me. Some of them get wine! I've been following a Swedish drama called Real Humans (Äkta Människor) and it's right up my alleyway. It has a good mixture of humour, black humour, social parody and political satire. There is a US/ Anglo adaptation out called Humans, it's ok, it's different, a more serious menacing drama, but lacks the humour, the satire, the parody and the political edge of the Swedish original.
Real Humans is set in the present, a Swedish present and androids (called hubots) are the thing. Real Humans are the ultra nationalist anti-hubot group who take issue with the emergence of hubots in society, they feel threatened by this and the demands for civil rights for hubots.
Apart from Richard Adams' Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, I haven't the foggiest about sci fi literature but this doesn't 'seem' like sci fi.

I like the sound of that programme - must keep an eye out for it.

Don't know if it has been mentioned but watching "An Honourable Woman" off Netflix. Its a bit too arty and slow during a lot of the episodes but a fairly interesting storyline makes it a decent watch. Doesn't come highly recommended from me but certainly watched a lot worse.
