Is that not a bit outdated Decky.
Is that FAI annoucement still due this evening?
I am sure there will be a statement one way or the other but whether it reveals the new manager or is another holiding one is anyones guess. According to Chatsoccer they may not announce it tonight. It will look pretty bad if they dont announce anybody but I would rather wait for Trap then go for Venables or Allardyce.
T O D has just predicted a holding statement scenario at Citi West.......down to 2, trap and tel:mad:
FFS, what are they like?!
Could you imagine how ****ed off everyone will be if after over 110 days they appoint Venables. They could of elected him in December.
And if it is Trappatonni rather than Venables can we call him "Trapper" rather than the "Gaffer"
Does this mean that the update to the recent update is that there is no update?
Trapp's people ****ed off

Stuttgart suggested on Saturday that Trapp's is a smokescreen created by the FAI. This story bears that out. All in all this weekend has been an absolute shambles for the FAI.
It's just the FAI trying to screw money out of Ireland fans via Betfair.
They must have made enough to pay off Stan by now surely?
Really strange sequence of events in that last 5/6 days that shows ONCE AGAIN the failings of the FAI.
So many questions, and no answers.
Who approached Trapattoni?
If it wasn't the panel that approached him, why not? (The Panel = FARCE, btw)
Why the leak to the press that something was going to happen Sunday night?
What happened in the background since Friday night?
Why the belief that the process will be over in 10 days?
I think in years to come the word 'Machiavellian' will be replaced by 'Delaneyian'. What the f*ck is going on here?

The replacement of "Python" in "Pythonesque" would be more appropriate. I would opine that the leaking of Trappatoni as a candidate has little to do with the FAI (or , indeed reality) but Delaney is simply allowing it to run as A) They are not capable of stopping it and B) It buys Don Givens more time to find a viable alternative to Venables, who is now seemingly out of favour as the preferred candidate.
WHAT A LOAD OF SH*TE.:mad:another one in the loooooong list of fai balls ups.
i see "lantern jaw" staunton made a few barbed comments to the press about trappatoni,in fairness stan you wouldn't be fit to sharpen his pencil.
Dunno if this was posted earlier but the current wikipedia entry about Trapatonni goes like this:
Trapattoni has recently been linked with the vacent Republic of Ireland managerial job. Trapattoni was due to be unveiled as the new Republic supremo following a meeting of the FAI's board of management on Sunday 3rd February but instead the meeting finished with an announcement that an appointment is imminent. The current caretaker manager, Don Given will remain in charge for the Republic's game on February 6th. [4]Trapattoni's imminent appointment has also fuelled speculation that Liam Brady who speaks Italian fluently will be named as assistant to the Italian veteran. The pair worked together for two successful seasons at Juventus between 1980 and 1982, with the Turin club winning Serie A titles on each occasion. The Dubliner would be regarded as a very welcome addition to the new team with the FAI and his knowledge of Italian would be a help given Trapattoni speaks very little English.
Sure anybody can put anything up on Wkipedia.
