The U.14s advance to the semi final of the Connacht Cup with a 2-1 win away to Merville United in Sligo. Alan Carroll and Alan Rocliffe netted. United were under siege in the second half against a physical outfit. The prize is a trip to Boyle Celtic in four weeks.
Tomorrow evening folks, two managers are going to lock horns in the biggest derby game of the season. In the red corner is Michael "The Supergaffer" McDonnell against Michael "The Terminator" Dalton in the blue corner. Both are going to unleash a group of 13 year olds with one football. Local and school class pride is at stake. The prize on offer is a second round clash in the Mayo Cup. Expect lots of blood and thunder as only the strongest will come through. The game? Despite the net busting efforts of Gerry and Spiderman, Westport United bowed out of the Junior Cup to St. Peters of Athlone. :(The good news though is that the dream of winning the Connacht Cup is alive and well as United demolished Oranmore 6-3 with the Louisburgh Lion grabbing a hat trick with, Lovejoy, Spiderman and Cam all chipping in with a goal each. United played some champagne football in the first half to submit their Galway rivals to defeat. Away trip to West United and all I can say is "Bring 'Em On!!:D
Just to let you know, boys and girls, Seatown took on Charleville in the SFAI Goodson Cup on Sunday in Dundalk and the word on the street is that Seatown won 3-2 on pens after a 0-0 draw. I hear that Seatown are a well organised team.

Two huge games for Westport United at the weekend. The U.14s are in Boyle on Saturday in the semi final of the Connacht Cup, while the Juniors take on West United in the quarter final of the Connacht Cup on Sunday. Plenty to look forward to.
Westport United lost in both games. The U.14s lost 2-0 with goals either side of half time. The Galacticos were controversially beaten in the Connacht Cup by West United 4-2 on pens after a 2-2 draw. Cam and Lovejoy got the goals, but the game was marred by controversy.

mervue beat salthill 1nil in that quarter final. ye will beat ballinasloe. they're not great, tricky winger and decent centre midfielder but i would expect ye to win.

westport will probably win it alright, can't really see celtic going far as dec is using it for trying out players for the beggining of the a league and we are really struggling for players sunday! best of luck to westport though on sunday, ye should beat them, we were the better team and deserved to win on the day against them, they're a dirty team though so get stuck in hard on them!!

The Galacticos are in the final of the Connacht Senior Cup!!:D Stuffed Ballinasloe Town 4-0 with Dessie grabbing a brace, spiderman netting and a wonder strike from Scah. The Louisburgh Lion got the only goal as they beat Mervue 1-0 with Martin McGreal pulling off a Gordon Banks save late in the game.
The U.14s beat Seatown on penalties before losing to Belvedere in the quarter final of the SFAI Goodson Cup.:ball:

Heard in a pub the other evening that there is meant to be a good signing for the first team and he's a non-national. Don't have further details and I'm not sure whether the story is authenticated.
Fair play to Westport, super result. Seems strange to me that there have not been more congratulations from Mayo teams and club members; great result for Westport and Mayo football. Maybe a few jealous people out there? Well done from Fahy anyway!
