Castlecoote is full of droll people, almost, as droll and depressing as Glenamaddy and Dunmore. Seriouslly I have yet to find two more depressing towns in the world than Glenamaddy and Dunmore. I remember years ago when I was in America, drinking in the burren, and this guy who played music and sorta worked there was telling me his family were from glenamaddy and how he used to go back every summer etc etc. I couldn't beleive him and had to ask did you really go back. I mean being there once, is enough for any sane man. Come to think of it he had a funny head on him, so it might all fit the jigsaw.

Sad news to hear, was wndering why he wasnt in the squad yesterday
Did anyone catch the RTE panel extra thing online after the game tonight? Giles, Souness and Dunphy took user submitted questions on it and one of them was about potential midfield replacements, where they brought up the likes of Lawrence and Carsley and as the conversation went on Bill suggested questioned if Dunphy thought Fahey could be a potential player to look at it, at which point Dunphy rather snidely dismissed the prospect saying "he's a full back, Bill" before he want back to praising Carsley.
That gave me a chuckle tonight anyway! Either he's never heard of him or more likely he's confusing him with Foley. :D
we need the vision of keith fahey anyway.
dunphy wasnt at the races last night anyway. made me laugh when he was taking about the cyprus league without realising that they have more players playing champions league than we do this season..made me laugh anyway.
yeah I heard Dunphy's dismissal of Fahey as a full back; it really goes to show how little Dunphy knows of the game, or thinks he knows of the game. That neither Giles nor Souness corrected him shows that none of the panel know anything about him, a Premiership player at that. It does undermine the argument that Trap isn't supposedly watching his players, when clearly neither are the "experts"
he thought duffer still plays with newcastle sure.
I expect Fahey will feature, but just not before Oct / Nov.
The Fahey remark aside (he must have been confused with Foley), I thought the RTE panel's assessment of Saturday was good.
Midfield is still all about Steven Reid's comeback for me. If it's to be accepted that duff & McGeady on the flanks can't accommodate Andy Reid, then maybe Lawrence could get one of the wide berths. I hope he starts tomorrow and does well.
Personally I think the editorial slant on RTE's coverage of the Premiership should always include a comment on any Irish in action. That way there'd be no excuse for being ignorant of Fahey or anyone.
just to note, birmingham signed tainio(sp?) on last day of transfer window, so that is carsley, fahey, ferguson, bowyer competing for midfield places. bit of competition for fahey if McCleish is gonna play him in the middle.
I stated McCann was a better prospect than him in those early posts before most on here had even heard of McCann so your post should actually state how right could I be? Apology accepted.
How can you claim he is holding his own in the Premier league anyway? He's only played 2 games. Anyway the point I made wasn't about Keith Fahey in particular if you read it you would see the posts were about all the LOI players who had been touted on here that turned out to be poor following their moves to England. If you follow through the posts you can see all those posters still claiming the likes of Roy O'Donovan, Alan Bennett and Daryl Murphy had been successful in England when I stated they hadn't been and weren't going to be. Got that wrong also did I?
But anyway you just continue to quote a line or two from a sequence of posts if that makes you happy to try to prove a point and delude yourself into thinking that two appearances in the Premiership thus far for a relegation threatened team proves that someone is a great player and should be in the Ireland team. Great is not a description I'd use for many players in the Birmingham team tbh but each to their own.
How was I wrong about O'Donovan by correctly stating he wasn't part of the first 11 at Dundee? Don't be silly. He had a torrid spell up there so I was for all intent and purposes right in my assessment when others were singing his praises. He was sitting on the bench from when I made that statement until close to the end of his time there when he got back into the team so if you knew anything about football instead of taking other people who contradicted my statements as gospel you'd know I was right. The guy claiming he was a regular starter at that point was wrong. Irrespective of these details my main point was he is sh*t and in that sense I was proven to be 100% correct. It is so correct it has since become a recognised law of physics.
As for being wrong, weren't you the one I pulled up a few years ago for claiming Paddy McCarthy should be in the Ireland team when I stated he was struggling in the Championship? People in glass houses and all that.
LOL. Can you point to the quote where I said he should be in the Ireland team? Correct me if I'm wrong (which you never are apparently), but was he not on the bench for Ireland last night? But that obviously means he's sh!te because he shoud have been playing??
Was it not you who was singing McShane's praises in the Paddy McCarthy thread? LOL at that as well, McShane's a complete liability.
People in glass houses and all that.
You really are clueless. Didn't you pull me up when I stated he had been previously dropped to the subs bench for Leicester and claimed he was a first teamer and that he was their captain? Didn't you imply he was one of their most important players at the time with these assertions? Yes of course you did. You were subsequently shown to have no clue what you were talking about whatsoever considering he didn't start another game for Leicester after that point and was offloaded at the first opportunity to Crystal Palace when the transfer window re-opened. But yeah you were right he really was a crucial part of their plans and a top player for them at that time.
Congratulations btw he finally got onto the subs bench almost 3 years later for a meaningless friendly with a depleted squad but wasn't deemed good enough to make an appearance. Looks like he has a glowing future in Ireland colours. Pat yourself on the back for spotting that talent. You should be a scout.
Oh where to start with this drivel
Firstly, I'm still waiting for you to show me where I said McCarthy should be in the Ireland team...
Lets see, he was their captain at the time of that post. He was out injured with a broken collarbone and you said he was dropped. Yes, because most people would play with a broken collarbone.
I'm sure you also recall that just about everyone else disagreed with you when you said he wasn't a first-teamer.
I'm the one who's clueless  LOL. If we're going to go into what people were implying , I can come up with plenty of BS just like you do. The part in bold is my favourite, especially considering he transferred from Leicester to Charlton, but you knew that, right?

P.s. notice the captain's armband on his right arm. Also notice.... "Paddy McCarthy today (Wednesday) joined Championship side Charlton Athletic for £650,000 after turning down the offer of a new contract from the Foxes.
Leicester had offered the Irish defender, who had just one-year left to run on his current deal, improved terms to stay at the Walkers Stadium."
Offloaded at the first opportunity?????? Riiiiiiiiight
Was McCann, who you seem to have a particular hard-on for, in the squad? YOU REALLY ARE CLUELESS. Now get back to your school work.
