i hear the secret agm of westport utd is on friday nite.same com. next year again some club.........
So Westport, how do a bit of a kick and rush Premier League Sligo team beat Castlebar, or take them into extra time??? Are celtic a footballing team, possession/probing type or do they mix it up??
I hear they are a young team too..............any chance they've a soft underbelly???
Is there Oscar Traynor on the 18th?? our game has been pushed back to 25th, or have they an under 18 FAI game??
Conspiracy theories or what!?!?
We got notice during the week that Mayo are playing their Oscar Traynor game on the Saturday in Dublin. I presume that is why your game has been put back. Celtic are a young side with a few experienced players but they are not the power they were. They have lost 11 players this season to Galway utd, Sligo and Mervue. They will still give you a tough game.
The Connacht U.14 Cup Quarter Final against Merville Utd fell foul to the weather yesterday. Westport now have to travel to Sligo.
Congrats to Hugo Feehan on winning the club lotto.
The U.14s are at home to Templeogue United in the SFAI Goodson Cup on Saturday afternoon at 2:00, while the Junior team are at home to St. Peter's of Athlone on Sunday at 2:00. Both massive games and it promises to be a great weekend.
I think that there may be an executive call on the weekend fixtures. Milebush is on standby for both games. Templeogue are travelling tomorrow evening for their game. I cannot see the Sports Park taking the two games. If any game is likely to be moved, it will be the U.14 game.
are ye confident for the u14 game? dont think templeogue would be a major force in dublin. our u13s at home to lourdes from dublin sat also. u12s away to letterkenny next week and u16s still dont no who they are playing in last 32. south west section 2 games behind
Any word on the fixtures in relation to the weather, forecast ain't good.
weather is poor in mayo. rained all last night. i know that celtic park in castlebar is just about playable and it is a better pitch than the sports park in westport. cant imagine the sports park being great. i think westport have milebush pitch in castlebar on standby and that is an excellent surface which is playable in nearly any weather
what about the Iorras pitch will hold up after all this rain and if not have they a second pitch on stand by
Iorras pitch is playable has not rained as heavy in north mayo and better forecast for tomorrow. They have another pitch lined up in case it is not playable.
thanks
any news on where game will be played tomorrow?
Westport beat Templeogue 2-1 in the Sports Park. The St. Peters game is in Milebush.
where did it go wrong for yee yesterday lads?heard it was a good game played by two very good footballing sides
wasn't at the game, but from what i heard st peters were excellent, injuries? peters were at 10 men after 15 mins... i was at the last game in athlone, its justice after that game, but thats the joy of football. Westport are a credit to junior football, league of ireland sides wouldn't have the kind of support they have. I'm delighted for st peters and the league...
I have to say fair play and well done to Michael Gallagher for his excellent match report for the U.14 game on Saturday on the Western People today.
Westport United were beaten fair and square on the day. No complaints and no objections. The only objection would be to clubs giving us walkovers.
lads,
im going to the longford town westport utd match on saturday next. i believe they play in the westport sports park. i was just wondering the driections to the ground please...can you send me a pm on this..
Westport United v Longford Town
Saturday 7th February 2009
Westport Sports Park
Kick Off @ 2:00
All are welcome for a great game of footie.
Why did westort play u14 game on their pitch on saturday and end up
having to play fai game in milebush surely all efforts should have been made to make sure fai game took place in westport gave big advantage away not playing in sportspark.
just assuming, but westport may have thought that milebush may have suited them better. they try and play good football and the sports park is quite narrow and bumpy while milebush is wide and has an excellent surface. as said, it was an excellent game of football by two good teams. having said that, after seeing carrick united playing last season, dont think that st peters have enough to win it but a home draw and a bit of luck, you would never know. have a fair bit of experience.
I think every effort was made for both games to go ahead in the Sports Park, which was the preferred option. Both games were as big in their own right; both were last 32 in Ireland. Just to make a point, Templeogue United came down on Friday in cars, so they could not afford to be messed about.
I would agree westport play best football in mayo league and like a wide pitch with good surface, but home is home and think ye might be sorry ye let this one get away.
how did friendly go against longford on sunday
Longford won 3-1.
really enjoyed the trip to westport.. the supporters were great craic. also the directions I got from westport utd fc were top class i had no problem finding the ground.. what was it I heard that we could meet ye in the connacht senior cup??
