Wilton and douglas are playing connaught teams where standard generally isnt as strong. knockavilla or Springfield away to Tolka Rovers, v tough. Carrigtohill away to Carrick, munster champions very tough. Kinsale away to most likely Killavilla who I know a good bit about also very tough. Park away to Strand would fancy Park, on their day as good as most. Therefore as i said, a very tough draw for Cork Aul, max three to go through IMO
well to be honest i gave 2 cork teams to come through this stage but all the best to the lot of them
Boo, its not Carrick from Limerick, its carrick rovers from Monaghan as far as i know. Still a vry tough draw.
Fair draw IMO. All Cork teams avoided the 'Big Names' such as Pike, Carrick (not carrigs opponents), Waterford Crystal, St. Michaels, both Clonmels etc. If the teams from Cork cannot compete against the teams drawn then they should not be 'out of cork' IMO, thus I would be confident in them all getting a result. Must say the toughest draw (without bias) is for ourselves or knockavilla up to Tolka Rovers. Any away game is tough but against an established team like them would be even more so. Although getting a result against Knockavilla would be absolutely superb first and foremost.
Firstly Coachford v Knockainey - Coachford should be confident (even though from Limerick) I heard that they were very very lucky to beat Carew in the last round and are a lower division team. Tough enough game down there but could be much worse.
Carrigtwohill v Carrick Rovers FC or Darndale Rovers FC - tough journey to do but once that hard work is done I think they'll be even more so up for the game and should come out on top, especially from what I hear about them this season.
Park v Strand Ath or FC Blanch - Park will probably play FC Blanch and will be up against it IMO but will hopefully come out on top in a tight game. They're dubs so its going to be vocal.
Kinsale v Killavilla FC or Bellurgan Utd - Would fancy them to be playing Bellurgan to be fair. Although obviously strong they've been beaten 5 times out of 12 in the Dublin AUL Premier (just checked) and I would fancy Kinsale to get a result and bring the game back to Cork. Kinsale would be a great team to represent the Cork Aul IMO in the next round.
Wilton v Ballyhaunis FC or Kiltimagh/Knock FC - Wilton, a no-brainer for me anyway at home to either side.
Douglas Hall v Ballinasloe Town - From the reports of how good Douglas are I would fancy them against Ballinasloe at home. Although MSL I would be delighted for them to get into the next round, which I think they should.
All in all I would like to say goodluck to all Cork teams, ESPECIALLY THIS YEAR.
very quite in here tonite lads well any training sessions by any of yer teams 2nite
Not many teams would train on a Wednesday night Killer
[SIZE=2]Excellent post slainte 101, obviously alot of thought and research done before posting. Something boo failed to do. Boo you neglected to mention our good selves out in Coachford. Maybe your still recovering after all the furniture moving down in Little Island!!:p
I would also give alot of Cork teams a great chance of progressing further. Whilst there are no easy games at this stage of the competition for any team the likes of Kinsale (who have great pedigree in this competition), Park, Wilton, Springfield (if they beat Knockavilla) are well capable of beating anyone on their day.
The other teams i have nt seen play to be honest, but Carrigtwohill are going strong and Douglas Hall are an excellent team by all accounts will be a match i feel for their opponents.
On our own draw the travel to Limerick is not a long journey so that can't be used as an excuse, they beat Carew Park whom we had a great battle with a few years ago.
So the upmost respect will be given to them and we ll give it a good go. The only thing you fear on these trips is the local officials, so hopefully this will not be the case for the travelling Cork teams. Looking forward to training tonight as there should be a great buzz.

CANT SEE MANY IF NOT ALL OF THEM GOING AHEAD
Dont think there will be a blanket ban on AUL games! If some fixtures can go ahead they will be left go ahead - as far as i know this was discussed at the delegates meeting last night!
So there a chance of some games going ahead this weekend that good news of the lucky teams :)
Well if you read my post correctly I did give Cork teams a chance. I also expressed the opinion that it was a tough draw considering all of the away draws. I hope all AUL sides progress but was simply expressing a view inswinger that I only fancy 3 to go through given the AWAY disadvantage. Should the fixtures be reversed I would revise one or two predictions. For the record, as the draw stands I expect Douglas Hall, Wilton and Kinsale to progress, and fingers crossed Park. Again, only my opinion. Is that not what a FORUM is for? I guess time will tell as to whether enough "thought and research" went into that post Inswinger but your right, \I normally dont consult my Local football directory to base my opinions on teams. I base it on the times iv seen or played against these opposition
Lads,
quiet day in work so having a read through some other threads.
Wilton should be shoe-ins against either a tier 3 or tier 5 Mayo side, Douglas Hall will not have it easy from a good experienced Ballinasloe side, but should progress.
As far as i can make out there does be 10 Cork teams(various leagues) that progress to the last 64, which is a very big representation. But from my research there has only been one Cork team to reach the quarter-finals in the last 6 seasons(Grattan in 2007), is this reflective of the standard of Junior football in Cork or just a bad spell?
Not trying to have a go at anybody but was wondering if anyone of the cork posters could shed some light on it?!
i would agree with boo on this even tho i only gave two cork team to go through i forgot about about park utd to.. we (grattan B) faced them in the first round of the AOH CUP this year and the vert strong team .. as for douglas hall in the last round of the fai junior cup agasint grattan again (unreal) that all i have to say fit, strong on the ball and getting well coached and as for wilton well every one in the Cork Aul knows all about them
Welcome Longshanks - I think it is 8 representitives from Cork in FAI open round (I am open to correction): That is coming from 4 different leagues, the AUL , MSL (Junior Section), CBSL (business & shipping) and WCL (West Cork).
Wilton United
Park United
Kinsale
Carrigtwohill
Castleview
Coachford
Douglas Hall (MSL)
Knockavilla or Springfield
As far as I know representation is linked to numbers of teams registered in the leagues and entered into the national cups - not necessarily linked to absolute performances in the cups - linked to the numbers participating...
Innishvilla,
As far as I know the regional representation depends on the amount of entrants. We(Sligo/Leitrim and Roscommon leagues) get 3 teams through to the open draw, its a bit of a 'catch 22' situation, only 6 Sligo/Leitrim teams entered this year(4 of them from top division of 12 teams). some teams dont enter because of their ability, others because of cost. Last season one of the better S/L sides Carbury FC were drawn away to Springfield and if they won that game had to travel to Pike the following weekend, all this in mid to late December, lads couldnt commit to getting away for 2 weekends in a row(family and work commitments) so the gave Springfield a w/o. they got banned and a big fine.
The lads in the WDL are constantly giving out about the current status quo, they've only 2 sides into the last 64, eventhough their 2 teams regularly feature in the quarters. Seems as though the WW/EC league is in with the TDSL and TDNL, TDSL are the strongest teams and therefore boost their representation, a touch of Gerrymandering??
even allowing for 8 cork sides through to open draw, 1 quarterfinalist in 6 years(1 out of 48) appears to be a poor return.
Longshanks hate to agree with you but you're right it is a poor return. Would you believe the last Cork team to win the FAI Junior Cup was Rockville in 1945. We've had about 10 appearances in the final since but no winners. Temple Utd. in 1987 were the last finalists. I feel that most good teams and players in Cork eventually end up playing Munster Senior League or Cork City and Cobh Ramblers. Limerick, Tipperary and other leagues with no Senior section seem to do well, like Fairview who I think hold the record of 8 titles. On the other hand we seem to do very well in the intermediate Cup.
I say its looking 50/50 for saturday horse/olach,hopefuly it be played!
The pitch be like concrete if it stays lik this!
I see we have no game the 11th/12th,sickening!
Our B team playing blarney street the saturday,so at least we can go watch that!
Also best of luck to niall and cork aul wednesday night, should be a good one!
