Have to say, really poor promotion of the games tonight on most of the Irish football websites. Most of them have the fixture dates completely wrong.
So we have:
Mon Fingal V Limerick
Mon Longford V Dundalk
Mon Wexford V Kidare
Tue Athone V Waterford
Tue Monaghan V Shels.
First things first the Lilywhites must win in Longford and I've no doubt that they will. With that in mind I'd hope for a draw between fingal and Limerick just to halt their momentum. Wexford Kildare is anybodys game but I wouldn't put it past Athlone and Monaghan to get something out of their games. As far as I can remeber no of the top 4 sides has come out of KCP with 3 points this season and athlone are on a decent run.
Hoping Lims and Longford will do us a favour tonight. Can't see us winning in Monaghan. ****ing bogey team away.
How are we everyone's bogey team but we rarely win? Weird that! :D
We've beaten Shelbourne on their last 4 visits to Monaghan
And we cant score in gortakeegan!!!
Thats what happens when ye release a few strikers during mid season!!!
Stephen Rice and Dessie Baker to Fingal, so I've been told!
And ye are still no amazing shakes, the standards are so poor in the First. Any team with a half decent squad who can string a few passes together will go a long way. Should have taken the lead before half time. Few good chances. Dundalk got a good goal for their first. Then we change the defence around and they get an easy second with a decent one two and a free header fo the third.
Made a nice few quid on Dundalk tonight. Very happy with their win.
Sporting up to 2nd now! Who'd have thunk it?
If Rice signs (!) they'll have a much better chance, don't think Baker will make much of a difference. Not sure they need him.
He's good in the First Division because he gets a lot more time to compose himself.
Your jus bitter he left yous on bad terms. he'll be part of our premier league team next season, come in fingal!
:o:p
Hynes is a no-good cheating fcuk , Cant hack it at the top level look at derry didnt last long did he?
AFAIK Baker to Fingal isnt a down deal yet, Or is Rice. Anyone heard anything?
Baker undecided on Dundalk or Fingal.
Doyle from UCD to Dundalk could happen today.
From what I've seen of Hynes, he's big and clumsy in the Darren Mansaram mould. However, he is physically strong and causes problems for the opposing defence.
Hynes is a decent First Division standard forward. Not good enough for the Premier Division, and too slow (could still out-pace our defence though!).
No but you need a brain. And from talking with Peter Hynes in his Dundalk days he doesn't have one. Robbie (I want a world record for the amount of teams I play for) Doyle is a waste of space and he is not good enough even for me to lend him my fiancee's tights (effin Prima donna). How many goals has Doyle from open play?
Of the strikers that we let go the one I think is Gills biggest mistake is Flood. For what Flood said/did i don't think it warranted him to be dismissed from the club but thats in the past now. We won't care anyway come November when we are picking up the first division title.
What do you mean as usual?
Last season we where muck I agree but we had an injury crisis that would of crippled the best teams in the country. When one player came back another 2 where injured. And no our pitch can not be blamed for it, as most injuries where picked up on the cabbage patches in this league. By the time our players came back they where not match fit and cobh and harps had an unbelievable momentum behind them to win the league. This season will go down to the wire I think you will agree and we will be fighting tooth and nail with the Shels, Waterford, Fingal for the title.
My Original assumption was always that a team win 3 or less defeats and a goals against target of less than 20 goals would win this league but I think we are looking at the lowest points finish for the champions
