Might see them first against Shamrock Rovers in the Stadium of Dreams In Tallaght. Brings new meaning to the phrase "He's got a yellow streak running down his spine".

You do have to wonder about people like Charlie Chawke and the Drumaville consortium. After spending the last three years telling everyone what big Sunderland fans they are he turns around now and says they would like to buy Newcastle! Apart from using the dreaded f-word "franchise" it just goes to show that these lads are just event junkies and like the kudos of being linked with an English club.
I'm a Newcastle supporter (and a Shamrock Rovers one first before anyone makes a comment) and the last thing the club needs is ownership like that. After Mike Ashley and Freddie Shepherd any new owner would have to demonstrate a genuine interest to the local community before getting a chance. Based on that interview Charlie wouldn't even get 5 minutes.
I'd much prefer to see these Irish businessmen invest their money in an Irish club (or preferably multiple Irish clubs). I suspect they'd get much more value for money and quite a bit more enjoyment out of it as well.
And I thought the publicans and builders were supposed to be skint!
how does everybody feel about newcastles promotions hopes? anybody feel they'll come straight back up?!
