nearly all those figures in this thread are completely unreliable in my book
your estimate for bohs city was wrong by a full 800 people compared to the official attendance
still think fans estimates are a good idea?
This is just another attempt to have another niggle at Dolan, wws.
It's a fact that City do get an average attendance of close on 5K this season.
It's immaterial wheither you agree with it or not.
Get over your petty obsession with Dolan, for f*cks sake...
bloody hell
ure dumbness has reached new depths
I'm actually on topic here oddboy
as in I'm queying the merit of an estimated attendance thread
I''m not on about city/dolan/the price of milk or anything else
bar one point: the inaccuracy of fans guesstimates for ALL the above matches.
pete being out by 800 is a pretty strong argument to back up what I'm saying.
Now who's obssessed with dolan oddboy, you 've obviously got him on the brain if you somehow managed to extract that from my posts in this thread.
OBSSESSED!
Look! you've just mentioned Dolan TWICE again!
Jeeze! Get over it ya jackeen...
attendances neil, a t t e n d a n c e s
try to stay on topic pulleeease :o
It's a fair point, although if we all seem to be overestimating, and all by say 400-500, at least the table will show the best-supported clubs and give others an idea as to who's struggling. And annual trends should be reasonable as well.
Obviously it's fairly arbitrary, but it's better than nothing.
With regards club officials, whenever I ask the UCD officials what the gate was, they can only reply in terms of "There were x people paid" or "The gate receipts were so much", so officials' estimates can ignore season ticket holders, press and assorted other people who get in for free which the casual fan would pick up, and so those estimates can be too low.
Well several English clubs take it for granted that season ticket holders go to games. For clubs like Pats, Bohs , Cork etc where you buy tickets and then go to gate, we should have definite figures. Bring on UEFA licensing
I'd say just 1800-2000 out in Mullologher on Tuesday...Quote:

One mention of Pat, and off you go...:D :D
to quote your own words...OBSSESSED!
:D :D :D
I tend to err on the side of caution with mine.... so thats no good.... Basically if some clubs are over estimating, and others being accrurate it's not even reliable for that - you're talking of an error margin of 16-17% for most clubs....Quote:

With regards season tickets - I think most clubs in England count season tickets for every match.... Personally I think this is acceptable as in effect a ticket has been sold for the game....
btw Dodge do Pats season tickets have to get a ticket as well, or just show their card?
wws this thread has been largely free of the ''we had four thousand youse had forty'' type comments. Your right though a lot of fans see attendences in terms of yet more one upmanship and show ridiculous bias when estimating them. The estimate I did myself of Rovers average last season was confirmed by Maguire at one of the public meetings.
Pete club chairmen are likely to be aware how many sponsors etc come in so would have a better idea than you seem to believe. It seems obvious off the telly that corks crowds aren't quite at the height they were last year but a lot of City fans just go on arguing in favour of bloated rounded figures. Tht said I'd agree the average is almost definitely over 4500.
I'd say 2250 for Derry-Pats the other night: 1000 in the shed, 800 in the stand, 150 Pats and 300 between all those schoolboy teams to the left of where we were
Shels Drogheda was a poor crowd, around 2000/2250 I'd say, then again I'm normally useless at judgeing these things.
I'd guess 4200 for Pats-Shels last night. Stand was full but not spilling over into the aisles, Camac was jointed but not as much as against Rovers or Bohs, hardly anyone in the Shed, usual smattering at the turnstile end.
I think next season all clubs have to put counters on their turnstiles under the new UEFA rules
Rovers-Bogford 1250
Probably about 3000 at Drogs-Pats last night, long terrace was about 2/3 full, roughly 300 of us on the short terrace, couldn't see the stand.
Waterford v City:
700 City
900 Blues
I'd geuss...
Shels v. UCD 1000-ish.
:confused:Quote:

Sounds very low for a local derby match when Waterford are doing well in the league and many of their crowds have higher than that?!
Or have all the Waterford fans gone back to the pub after the team lost a couple of games?:D
Reckon about 1,200/300 for Sligo Kildare. About 20/30 County fans.
reports give the drogs pats game as anywhere between 2,500 and 3,000
Ya around thatQuote:

Yup, very poor attendance by the home fans.
500 tops at Belfield last night for UCD v. Drogheda.
Should be a big crowd on Monday though...
Rovers-Jammyford 1500, or slightly less
I thought that looking in on Friday but the star had 2,500. The stand holds 2,000 and wasn't even half filled. There are going to be serious shocks when UEFA licensing comes in...Quote:

UCD - Jammy Rovers 1400-ish
Dodge the whole point of the thread is to get proper estimates, **** the Star.
Derry-Rovers 3800
Cork-Rovers 3200, I've seen much bigger crowds at the dross on winter Sundays
I was going to edit that but it's quite appropriate.Quote:

3,200???? :D
I've heard it all now!
Rounding down is no harm ..... it is better than rounding up.
Have you really well how about thisQuote:

Main Stand- 1200
Evergreen Rd side-500
Shed End-Under 1000
St Anne's-Under 700
As A face knows from reading the Ultras forum I was shooting low in the range from my original estimate of 3200-3500.
There was not 700 empty seats in the Donie Forde.Quote:

There was not 650 empty seats in the Derrynane.
There was 4,000 + there.
I know but if the people are getting their idea of crowds from the star (or whatever) next year is going to be a huge shock for them. Thats all I was saying...Quote:

1300 at Drogheda v. UCD, which is official.
Don't know how that compares to previous figures?
Town v Limerick I'd say around 1100-1200..... Hard to judge in this weather as more people are liable to be on our side of the ground rather than in the stand - defo a lot more on our side at recent matches.....
How many seats are there on each of the three sides. Believe it or not I'd prefer to bre wrong...Quote:
