i have to agree with neil mcd but i suppose they just wanted to sell out croker regardless. i know a fella who got 8 tickets allocated to him , surely a cap at 4 or something would have been enough ?
Agree a cap of 4 tickets is about right. Allowing people to buy more just gives people a license to tout. Even in Lansdowne tickets were touted and appeared on various sites for the east/west stands. I have a feeling some people suspect the could make a killing on our games (Wales in particular) given the historical significance.
Well I went for more but I can guarantee I will not be touting but I do think that it could happen but I think to be fair anyone on the block booking list would not be a tout. All the extra tickets I got are going to family members who live down and were not on the block booking list.
Being sold already http://cgi.ebay.ie/2x-tickets-irelan...QQcmdZViewItem
Two 70 euro tickets currently bid @ 300 euro
Well im just hoping that for those of us screwed by the fai that we'll get tickets without having to pay those kinda prices. Worst i ever paid was 150 in LR for the france game and cant imagine demand will be as high as it was for that game. Still thou I agree the FAI shouldve put a cap on how many tickets could be ordered to prevent this kind of stuff.
pure scum who sell tickets over face value. The FAI should track these people down and ban them from all future games. HOw hard would it be to find out who put this up on eBay?
There is something not right here.
Capacity increases from 33K to circa 76K and an additional 10K (say 2 tickets per waiting list applicant) cannot be accomodated. ?
The selection of seating area should have been prioritised ie 1st choice 2nd choice 3rd choice. If your 1st choice was full by BB's or those on the waiting list ahead of you then you automatically got shifted onto your next choice.
I have only thought about this now but what the hell happens elsewhere when new grounds are built and seating allocated ? Arsenal ? It is not rocket science.
If there are problems now going back to Lansdowne with a reduced capacity is going to be a nightmare.
Can anyone confirm that they were 3500 or higher on the waiting list and got sorted. I will be very ****ed off if this is the case.
I know a bloke whos was around 2500 and got his full allocation of 6 tickets.
Capacity for the home support is approx 59,000 + 10,000 premium and corporate.
82500 - 13,000 (Hill) - 10,000 = 59500 (approx)
Waiting lists applicants should have been offered the amount (or less) their original application to join the list was for, failure to take this amount up should have seen removal from the list. Those on the waiting list the longest should obviously have preference for their original desired amount.

13,000 (Hill)
thats standing bluetonic. temp seating is going to be considerably less.
Was doing a calculation to show the capacity available to block bookers
82500 (minus) - 13,000 (Hill) (minus) - 10,000 (corporate) = 59500 (approx) capacity for block bookers.
Even on TV3 I heard 82,500 being bantered around as the capacity, which is totally misleading.
Existing BB's circa 33K
Waiting List 5000 @ say 4 per ticket 20K (being generous)
total 53K required 59.5K available
I can only think that existing BB's have taken another circa 20K of tickets (few of which were duplicated by the waiting list) leaving 6.5K of tickets for 2-3K of waiting listers
It is a mess.
The 4 issues I see are
1. the number of waiting listers who actually got offered tickets ?
2. It appears that if your preferred seating area is full you are discarded no matter where you are on the list and those further down are offered their own preferred seating area if their area is not filled?
3. why so few of the additional 20K BB tickets were not duplicated on the waiting list ?
4. I previously advised to take up the waiting list offer as opposed to an existing additional BB offer as the ticket Office confirmed that these tickets would be for Croke Park only. I took this to mean that they would be discarded for the new Lansdowne as existing BB will revert to their old allocation. If this isnt the case the waiting list will not move when LR is redeveloped
logical solution would have been to :
croke park
1. give existing BB their normal allocation (30,000)
2. issue tickets to the waiting list - max 2 per person (12,000)
3. go back to BB list and offer more tickets as you know how mant left now
4. any remaining tickets offered to those on waiting list
Advantages: decrease the amount of duplication - i.e people on waiting list who got tickets off BB's. also you have now looked after the people on the waiting list.
new landsdowne
1. you offer existing BB their original amount of tickets (30,000)
2. you also have sort out those on waiting list (12,000)
3. do what ever the fúck you want as most people are happy and you have 42,000 block bookers - remaining 13,000 or so will be for corporate and away supporters
BTW anyone on waiting list not get their letter this week yet??
I am not so sure now Bluetonic they could well revert to their normal allocation and like now ask if they wish to increase.
Can anybody honestly say that this was the way they thought Croke Park was going to allocated ?
As i mentioned on a previous thread less postage overall (5000 extra stampsw) if BB take more tickets:p
The amount offered to those on the waiting list should be the same as what they've originally applied for when joining the list, thats the only fair way. Otherwise it makes a mockery of asking people how many tickets they require when joining the list. Someone on the waiting list 5 years looking for 3 tickets should never be offered 2 tickets. The list is there for a reason - to prioritise people and their requests not to give everyone the same spread.
No, i never thought this would be the way of the allocation, but being fair to the fai they have to sell all the tickets, from a financial point of view. Whether or not it is actually full is completely unrelated and from experience they don't seem to mind touts which is why we see some faintly ludicrous allocations getting filled.
They have stated categorically that any increases block bookers receive will not carry over to lansdowne and i'm sure that will be the case. Plus, lest we forget, block bookers waiting listers will be in the same boat so the 5,000 odd on the waiting list will only get what they initially put down for. Everyone whos name is actually on the list should be okay when they get back to lansdowne.
New Lansdowne Road capacity 50,000
Away allocation 5,000
45,000 capacity for home fans.
Less 10,000 capacity for premium and 1,500 capacity for box level which are being sold separately at the moment by the FAI
So all in all there will be 34,000 block booking seats available in the new Lansdowne. You can actually probably skim another 1,000 off for those who have been buttered up to allow Lansdowne to be redeveloped.
People better start praying that some of the existing allocation of block bookers upgrade to premium level, buy 10 year tickets, buy a box or else there won't be as many of the waiting list accommodated as you'd think.
As stated before my guess is from 2,000 below have 'a chance'.
In other related news... the waiting list is now suspended.
Quote:
BLOCK BOOKING
The Block Booking scheme is currently fully subscribed. The waiting list to join the scheme has been suspended until further notice due to excessive demand. No further applications to join the waiting list will be accepted after 5pm Monday 12th February.
And... the cheek of some block bookers...

BT
That is depressing especially on those who missed out,
Has anybody ever been removed from the BB list for this ? You would think that someone in the FAI would think it some good PR (espicially now) to announce a sting operation and anybody caught out would have their ticket allocation removed.
1.Spend say 5 K buy as many tickets as they can.
2. Name and shame those supplying tickets and remove from list - good PR
3. Tickets go to those on waiting list or get given to radio stations to auction for charity
4. Those next on waiting list get offered tickets for next game
Everybody wins
Didnt receive any cos the ticket office are claiming they never received my application although I hand delivered it! I rang them yesterday so if you're in the same boat I advise you do the same.
Am just hoping a few of the offers sent out this week are not returned, with a bit of luck might get offered those then. Wishful thinking but am hoping after last weeks performance a few people might have had second thoughts.
As for that scum selling on ebay......blood and boiling come to mind.
Genuine Ireland fan / not a messer / genuine ireland tickets / don't believe in robbing anybody !!!Quote:

Best bit is "if you win the bid i could also give u 2 tickets for the game against slovakia on wednesday after CUT PRICE" that must mean only 100 euro for a a 50 euro ticket, a bargain in his greedy world.
The fact that people can order 8 tickets and potentially flog them like this while others miss out on even 1 for being on waiting list is sickening.
As regards the FAI tackling touts I'd imagine it'd be the same story as with any other FA or club, they don't give a sh1t as long as they get their beef. If anything high tout prices reinforces the preciousness of legit tickets.
EDIT : just noticed the way thats quoted it looks like it was from Bluetonic, its actually him quoting some eBay scum !
EDIT #2 : is that better ? :D
These scum should not be allowed anywhere near these games. Must be some way of catching them. Makes you sick.
I tell you what is very depressing, reading here that people got tickets and were 5,000 on the waiting list i was number 4,1** and was offered no tickets at all. I think it is a bloody disgrace that some of those on the waiting list did not get at least 1 ticket. Something really stinks here. How can people who are 1000 places below me get offered tickets and i get jack, maybe because i am from the occupied 6 counties of the Island. (who knows)
Sorry to hear you didn't get tickets but that is not the reason. My mate who has been to every away game in the last while and every home game, also didn't get tickets. HE's from Dublin.
Been offline for a while so will clarify what happened to our group.
Most letters arrived last Friday (Dublin city centre, Lucan) and mine was there when I got home in Wexford but I suspect it might've arrived before Friday given there were a few letters on top of it. A mate in Baldoyle only got his yesterday believe it or not. Another fella hadn't got his on Friday, Dublin northside too, and is away on hols now so has lost out but I think he wasn't being sent a letter at all now after reading some of the posts up here.
I put mine in by hand yesterday (wasn't sending 420 postal order and wouldn't have arrived till today....maybe), another guy posted yesterday morning and mate that only received his today luckily works around Merrion Square so is dropping it in today. Another mate got major hassle off his missus over the price of the tickets and was going to wimp out until I explained about no general sale, people on waiting list not getting sorted and most importantly the prices they're fetching on eBay. He's Oz-Irish so didn't realise the extent of the demand but has hopped to it now (said Oz play-off for WC was 35k which was considered massive so didn't expect this for such a big stadium, welcome to Ireland mate). One thing, considering some only received the letter yesterday I wouldn't worry too much about missing the deadline just get it in this week.
We all asked for lower stand 70 euro tickets except for one guy so think I can confirm the theory that it was people that asked for these that seemed to get sorted regardless of waiting list position. Myself and another were in 1,900s and got 3 Cusack Lower each. A mate in 4,100s got a pair of Hogan Lower and a mate in the 5,200s got his single lower stand ticket. One of the guys I got a ticket for was in the 5,000s but never got the original Croker appl form so I got his on mine quoting his Waiting List number though so hopefully it'll be officially recognised for his future sake although can't see it being much use immediately for the new LR.
So the odd one out was a fella in low 5000s maybe high 4,000s that went for Upper Cusack/Lower. He had no letter on Friday and is away now. I'm presuming he won't find one when he comes back. When the shift from that selection to the canal end became apparant from BB mails he said he had been offered lower cusack but still at 50e. He was, as I somewhat expected, pulling my leg as knew he'd get a ribbing for ending up on the canal end when arguing upper side tier was best value for money and breaking from the rest of us. Sorry about that misleading bit of info but looks like its come back to bite him and won't be sorted for anywhere.
Did you go for anything besides lower cusack/hogan ? Betcha did and if you read the other posts its been well established that at some point these became the only tickets available and the FAI wouldn't bump people that went for 50e tickets to 70e. Anybody noticed what the highest waiting list poster is that got 50e tickets ? If any ?
Just put my name down for a pair of CL final tickets and as is customary for European Championships and the World Cups you tick a box to indicate whether you'd accept higher priced tickets / alternative selection if your chosen preference isn't available.
This seems standard and I do understand why the FAI can't revisit everybody who wanted 50e tickets to see if they wanted the 70e ones which were the only left. They can't be doing multiple rounds of sales. This very obvious eventuality should've been built into the ticket application form cos erm.....its obvious it could happen.
If somebody for financial reasons didn't want to fork out 20 euro extra a game then grand they don't tick the box and would get no ticket offer, if no 50e left, but would maintain their place on the list either way. If they had ticked the box and then didn't accept the offer then they're off the list, end of. Doesn't that seem VERY simple and fair ???
That way those first on the list get precedence. Of course a two tickets per head (unless originally requested more when joining the list) would've made sure everybody on the list got sorted but that mightn't sell the place out so I would go for the processing the list sequentially option as above although I do think a 4 ticket maximum would be fair to avoid over abuse. Maybe the whole waiting list wouldn't have got sorted, actually most probably not, but those that have been on it for even 6 months should've.
From mate who just dropped in his application now -
"Just back from handing in my payment in, no probs being late, she actually apologised(!) and said must be down to An Post"
No worries lads just get them in this week :)
Thats a load of crap. What is the point of a waiting list if people behind you get offered tickets and you dont. I have been talking to people who asked for upper hogan, but got offered lower davin, and accepted. I too would have accepted any ticket. I requested 4 from around pos 3,500 and got fa. 2 for davin would have done me. I also would have bought 2 at 70 euro. Im not fussy, but im very ****ed off at this shambles of a process. Doesnt really surprise me when it comes to the fai. Theyre a disgrace of an organisation.
