All regular first team players. Gallacher is no.1 at Norwich. Whittaker is a very highly rated right back in Scotland. Smith is a regular at left back for Rangers. Webster recently signed for Wigan and started their last couple of games. Thomson and Brown have an excellent partnership at Hibs and are always being linked with Celtic. Adam is a regular under Le Guen too and has been one of their better players. Maloney was SPL player of the year. Boyd scored about 30 league goals last season. Naismith is Kilmarnock's best player and recently had a trial at Arsenal.
Looking forward to the B match.Time for the EL players to stand up and be counted, and damage the SPL's reputation once more.
I think the squad is too big though, should be smaller.Too much filler in it.
Just read the thread from start to finish. Loved how the uproar and abuse directed at Stan over Paddy Kenny disappeared, lost in space, as soon as Stuttgart posted the reason for his omission.
Similar scenario’s have occured for some of the other players omitted. Why wait for the facts, when you can tear into the manager’s decisions straight away!
The man I believe will never make a right decision as far as some are concerned around here. Sadly the much needed return of the B international will merely be another stick to beat the Manager with. I’m delighted they brought back the B game and looking forward to seeing some familiar and some less so faces. I’m certain it will be a worthwhile exercise.
We can all have an opinion and I have one myself on certain team selections but surely they can aired without scathing attacks and insulting remarks about our national team manager at the slightest opportunity. It looks petty and childish at the best of times, imo. :o

I think there are some who are lucky to be in the senior squad - Colgan & Ireland spring to mind, but in a way I'd prefer to see those who I think are better actually given a game to prove their worth.
I took encouragement from Stan's comments in the press yesterday saying that there were more players in his thoughts and that there'd be quite a bit of rotation in the B squad over the next year so everyone will have a chance to impress.
Graham Stack is another who can feel aggrieved but hopefully he'll play well for Leeds and get noticed. John Fitzgerald another maybe, though I couldn't help feel when he left the pitch against the swiss U21s that maybe that was the last time he'd wear the green shirt.
I don't know about Colgan's merits, except that he has been MOM for his club in a number of games so far this season.

Looks liked Kenny was dropped due to his dire Irish performances rather than the personal reasons excuse that Staunton gave which sounded like a load of balls anyway. That's according to Neil Warnock.

Entirely agree Jerry. It is some feat that Stan has been able to uncur the wrath of both Warnock and Moyes in such a short space of time since his appointment, both for unbelievably poor decision. Must be some kind of record - I can barely remember it happening in the past to this extent with any other manager. Losing credibility with every game.
If this continues, players in their right mind will question the value, or the risk, of playing for Staunton.
One thing is for sure, we will need Kenny before he needs us.
If Kenny had declared for England he would be in their squad at the moment, yet he's behind Henderson and Colgan in ours. It simply does not make sense and is the latest in a set of confusing and bewildering decisions by our inexperienced, highly paid manager.
He was absolute sh*t against both the Dutch and the Cypriots so I'm happy for one to see him dropped. Maybe it'll serve as a warning to the other perennial underachievers.
