Pat's have also signed Anto Murphy from UCD, apparently.
He was at St Pats before he joined us. I'm fairly sure it was him I saw sitting among the St Pats fans at Dalymount recentlyQuote:

Sparky is a great signing for Pats. Had a fantastic year with us, even if he is stronger defensively than going forward at this stage. He got my POTY vote and I think he ran young Murphy very close for the award.
Dublin City FC would like to announce the signing of FAI Cup Winner Mark Rooney from Drogheda United.
The 22 year old has been a full time professional with Drogheda for the last two seasons, where he joined from a season long spell at UCD.
Mark also gained international experience for the eircom League Under-21 selection in Wales in 2003
Dublin City would like to thank Paul Doolin and all at Drogheda United for their co-operation in this signing.
Wonder does this mean the Indo article re the players Drogheda were looking to release is correct? Sandvliet, David Sullivan and one other.
What about the post on your website, Maynard? Is that list of released players likely to be confirmed and correct?
They're not confirmed yet, but I imagine if Vaughan, Scully, Lynch ( ), Williamson, A Kelly, B Kelly, Kennedy and Mulcahy aren't resigned by Monday then that's them gone. I heard that Brendan Kennedy is going back to Kildare (was offered a deal by us though apparently) other than that the only two that warrant any further speculation are Aidan Lynch (I think it's maddness if we don't keep him) and Ray Scully (who is being romanced by the vultures at Monaghan.

Doolin will now attempt to sort out terms with Stephen Bradley who is also out of contract. The midfielder was linked with a move to Fulham last week, but his current manager insisted no contact had been made.

That's gonna come back to haunt us. It was sad to see him go.:( :( Great player!!
Yeah, Dean Murray and Steve Bradle would be a big loss. :DQuote:

Drogheda United agree new two-year deals with O'Brien and Whelan
12/12/2005 - 17:59:13
FAI Cup winners Drogheda United have sign new two-year deal with skipper Declan O'Brien and Gavin Whelan, both of whom scored in the final at Lansdowne Road.
Paul Doolin has also signed Glenn Fitzpatrick from Shelbourne and James Keddy has agreed terms to move from Bohs following the release of the Dutch winger Jermaine Sandvliet .
All those stars will be watching the draw for the Setanta Cup when it's made later tonight.
The FAI Cup holders join Champions Cork City and League Cup winners Derry and Shelbourne, while the northern quartet are League Champions Glentoran, CIS Cup winners Linfield, IFA Cup winners Portadown and Dungannon Swifts.
A step down from Sandvliet imo, why with all of Drogheda money does Doolin insist on signing such average players? Lynch was the same.
Lynch was one of our best players this season - very solid and turned out to be a great signing.Quote:

A toss up between him and jermaine on the left side of midfield, jermiane would win every time. Thought he did more than enough to earn another contract tbh.
So did I, I'm baffled as to why he wasn't kept on. But my point is, Drogheda have money and ultimately title winning aspirations, no? I don't think players like Keddy are what a club with ambition should be looking at.
Had my doubts when I first heard it (as i did with lynch and look how he turned out for us!!). A bit of experience will do us the world of good as we've a young squad and as I said ye know what ye get from him and might've only been bought as a utility player.Quote:

Drogs needed someone bad to avoid the disappointment of not getting Brennan from Derry:p
Everyone went on about Hawkins,Crowe and Ryan leaving last yearQuote:

I rate Webb, but Lynch was an absolute disaster area for Bohs every time I saw him anyway. Worst example being the time he literally just decided to hand Shels a penalty for no reason in Dalymount Park under no pressure at all (Then had the cheek to just claim a goal that wasn't even close to his later on to try and make up for it :D ).Quote:

Anytime i saw Lynch at Bohs he looked good going forward but a terrible defender. Doolin is wasting good money on fullbacks as its the easiest position on the pitch & they rarely win you games.
Keddy is poor signing for team that spent huge money last season for 4th place.
Drogs might be dangerous next season with their transfer funds but not as long as Doolin making the purchases.
Shamrock Rovers Have Signed
Dave Cassidy,Aiden Price from Kilkenny
Robbie Clarke and Ray Kenny From Kildare
Sligo Rovers have signed Keith Foy from Monaghan United
Glentoran have signed Lee Roche from Rovers apparently.
Roche hasn't gone yet according to the Press Conference today that unveiled Pat Scully. Rovers are still in negotiations with him.
And we've signed Aidan Price (new club captain) from Kilkenny and Dave Cassidy, Robbie Clarke, Ray Kenny from Kildare (I think, my knowledge of the 1st Division is not what it could be....yet)Quote:

Some decent signings by Scully there, especially Price and Kenny. Price would have had no shortage of suitors in the Premier.
Robbie Clarke is a City reject formerly of Pat's, Dundalk and Kildare, but competent enough at Shams' level.
It said in the star today that freeman has signed for dublin city (he was only on loan last season)

Aye, so I see. Sig's just a gentle reminder of the critical distance required of club owners. Loose lips sink ships.Quote:

As opposed to a certain club owner who rants and raves on the official sites message board........Quote:

Rocky's fully cognisant of the fact, and actually quite restrained given the amount of grief he gets, although he does lose it sometimes. However, I can tell you by his own admission that, however impelling the visceral temptation to lash out in any given direction, it never pays (particularly where match officials are involved. Ooh, the thought of Rovers being subject to the tender mercies of Derek Tomney and Tony Kelly next year just filled me with a warm glow.)Quote:

I tend to grant Rocky a certain latitude because, in an inversion of established procedure at other Dublin clubs, he spends more time actually plotting world domination than boasting about it on the internet.Quote:
