i got the impression that he was galway through and through as well. wherebouts is he from in galway? i seen him play bout 4 times this season&was impressed considering his age. he's strong&good in the air from what i've seen. i still find this rumour hard to believe cos i've heard so many stories about us been linked with players that were totally untrueQuote:

if this story is true, Terry. I heard it as well, but from a source that could not be described as reliable.
Sligo would have to pay a sizeable fee for the player and United are not in a position where we have to sell.

Shane signed for the club at the start of last season having previously played for Kingdom Boys and Tralee Dynamos in Kerry. He’s studying in City’s Soccer Academy, under the guidance of Liam Murphy, and has been capped at U19 level and with the Ireland IT team in Cyprus last January. Shane plays in central defence and made his senior team bow last year in the Munster Senior Cup.
Heard we also have a goalkeeper on trail, anyone here this?
AFAIK he is Polish. There are number of trialists at the club at the moment.

How did Philip o Reilly play last year?
He played a lot of Schoolboy football with my local club in Athlone and was an excellent prospect.
The two Italian trialists are Giovanni Mellone and Danilo (can't remember his surname). Giovanni, 18 year old from Lecce, has been already training with United for a couple of weeks and has spent last months in Galway studying.
Danilo is 22 year old and hails from Pavia. He will arrive at the end of this month, he's a good experience in Italian lower leagues and is currently under contract with a minor team. Therefore he might not be available before July, anyway. Both Giovanni and Danilo paly on the right side of midfield
Stephen Lally has added a sixth new face to his squad after secuing the services of Polish goalkeeper Tomasz Gruszka for the coming season - he will act as back-up to club captain Alan Gough. Gruszka, who played for Polish Thrid Division outfit K.S. Gawin, spent last week on trial with the club, and while he lacks match sharpness, he impressed enough to convince Lally to offer him a contract for the year.
