I agree, he will have to win his place. But thats football. It would be a great move.
Burnley may be relegated so I wouldn't fancy that. Newcastle won't work either.

I think he gets game time at any of Leeds, Burnley, Newcastle or Everton. How much will probably depend on his immediate impact in the initial chances. None of those clubs are making a signing in January this year that they don't intend on giving game time to immediately in order to improve their situation. Leeds could be great for him, if Rooney moved to Everton and he followed it could work out great, but would also be the most potential for disaster.
Knight and Ebosele named in the 21 under 21 EFL players to watch

Good chance this lad is eligible?
How is he doing a medical now? Has the transfer window not closed? Or is the Italian one different?
Of the two the last day he stood out much more than knight. Interesting why udinese are involved with Irish players all of a sudden
Free agent in the summer and can sign a pre contract.
Any transfer rumours for Knight? Wonder would it be a Premier league team or Top Championship side that would be better for his development? Would love to see him in the Premier league personally…
Linked with Burnley….
Wouldn't be the worst move in the world for him. And with Company in charge Jason is likely to improve his standards
This would be a typical unambitious move Irish players that go nowhere have been known for, Knight has 70+ games in the Championship at the age of 20, what will he learn playing another season there? An ambitious player who wants to go to the very top should be backing themselves in the premiership to fight for their place in the team at the weekend, that along with training with better players day in day out makes a premiership move the clear option, if a PL team comes in for him then he shouldn’t even consider Burnley.
And can people stop this nonsense that Kompany is a god and will improve all these Burnley, there is absolutely 0 evidence this will happen and if anything with the amount of players they are losing there is a far greater chance Burnley will be mid table than challenging for promotion.
They quite possibly won’t. Knight has been a consistently effective player at Derby, but has also been a stand out player for us at international level. I don’t doubt he has PL pedigree but playing well for Ireland and playing well in the Championship doesn’t seem to be enough to get automatically noticed by PL clubs anymore.
He’s a 20 year old full international who’s got 70+ championship appearances, even captaining them at times, and is now in L1 and will likely go for cheap…if there isn’t Premiership interest I’d be shocked and if we are being honest there is about as much interest from the PL as there is from Burnley…
Certainly he's a player with promise, but I'm not sure I've seen enough to indicate he would vastly improve a team at premier league level. Maybe he would belong there, but on paper he's a promising young player on a team that just got relegated to League 1 -- and a promising player on an international team which has done nothing significant in a long time.
While I'd love to see him go to the Prem and start there, perhaps playing on a promotion pushing Championship team is more appropriate at this stage of his development.
I wonder would there be any interest in Knight from outside of England? We've seen a few young Irish lads going to Italy recently. Knight would definitely be technically good enough to play in any top division I think.
Probably wishful thinking on my part but I love seeing that some Irish lads are willing to go further afield. Ollie O'Neill going on loan to Croatia is another recent example.
In Knights case there would be a fairly decent fee involved that would put off some clubs but as others have said he has proved himself in the Championship already so I'd like to think he can do better
Going to another championship is great if Knights target is to be a bang average premiership player (at best). If he wants to do better than that he needs to back himself to make the step up, that’s what Collins did and now it’s what Bazunu has done.
knight is still young, a move to a top champ club would do him good, we can see is he upto it within a better side. i see no adv of holding out for some PL move where hed likely be getting sub minutes. 1 impressive season in the championship is enough to grab attention these days from the mid table pl clubs these days, olise at reading , downes at swans etc. i do think PL clubs are waiting to see how hed do with a better team
I like Knight but I'm not sure he has the same potential as Bazunu and Collins. I think he'll play a good amount of Premier League football but maybe not for one of the top teams, whereas the other two have the potential to play in teams that challenge for titles.
He's already done what - played for a promotion-pushing Championship team? No he hasn't. He's had two seasons battling relegation (once unsuccessfully, once surviving by one point) and his first season was mostly spent in the lower half of the table.
I don't think a player can really just demand a move to a Premier Division side and it'll happen, especially with squad caps. I think you may be being a bit unrealistic in your criticism there.
Well in fairness Lampard did take Derby to the play-offs, but Knight didn't make his debut until the following season.
He’s had 2 full seasons as a starter at Championship level, what will he learn doing the same thing for a 2nd season? Ummm there is a huge advantage, he trains against better players every day, constantly being challenged meaning he’ll pushed to improve, plays against better players at the weekend, play in squad with greater depth meaning he won’t be totally flogged by the end of the season. If he was English he would without question be pushing for a PL move because he knows it’s what he needs to take his game to the next level but we in Ireland have a culture of conservatism and taking the safe bet which usually doesn’t work yet we still do it.
You’re argument about not goi g to the premier league is the mentality of a player that will go nowhere, hopefully Knight had abit more ambition with his career.
Pretty sure I can remember the same excuses being made about Collins when he signed for Burnley “oh he’ll be on bench and get no game time behind Tarsowki and Mee, he should stay at the championship and play week in week out”…1 season later and look where he’s at now, how did he get there? Because at a premiership club and at that level he’s being challenged week in week out to be better, that challenge just isn’t there at championship level, that’s why for Knights development the best thing possible is to sign for a PL team of the offer is there, a signing for a championship club at this stage is for a player with little ambition and is happy to be a journey man, a player who is backing himself to make it at the highest level will want to go up a level and not make a sideways move.
Linked with W Bremen which would be a great move, hopefully it comes to fruition
Couple of links online, including this on Pundit Arena, though I don't think it's clear where the original rumour is coming from.
Somebody sent me a screenshot from something called Éire Guide on Facebook with the Knight/Bremen story. No idea how credible they are.
Ciaran Kelly should have held out for a Premier League move too instead of going to Rotheram that time... training with better players would probably have him on the edge of a move to Man City now.
If Jason Knight bought a Premiership club ~ He could buy himself for that club.
The Jason Knight story is from Alan Nixon in the UK Sun newspaper.
