That was the rational for Cullen moving to Championship too, and it's spot on. I've no idea what the salaries are exactly but I wouldn't be surprised if a fella could make 3 or 4 times what he would in Belguim in a top end Championship club.

IMHO an established mid-table team in the Bundesliga would be ideal
Club representatives from Fenerbahce were supposedly at the game against France to watch Ogbene.
Goal for Ogbene tonight! I think that is 8 goals :)

From absolutely nowhere, Rotherham are back on level terms!
Wes Harding whips in a teasing cross that skips off the slick playing surface, and Chiedozie Ogbene arrives at the back post to head home.
Cardiff want a foul on Cedric Kipre - there's a little bit of contact from Richard Wood, but not enough to send Kipre tumbling like that.
Voted Mattress Online Man of the Match for the second time in a week!
Bedded in comfortably there ha.
Did he lay on anything ?
He's become one of my favourite Irish players over the past few years. The amount of energy he provides in defence and attack is phenomenal and he has skill too. I'd love to see him move to a bigger club this summer... no offense intended to Rotherham, and some will say that he has made his bed and now he has to lie in it, but if that performance against France didn't show that's he's capable of cutting it at the highest levels, I don't know what will. A move to Italy or Germany would be fantastic.
"Chopped down" by Boro midfielder Hackney (!!) after 18 minutes. Able to walk off but "unlikely" to be available for the final game v Wigan on the 8th.
Bad challenge and some said went down holding his hamstring. Conor Coventry also missed today's game with a hamstring injury. His first game not starting for Rotherham since joining.
And on his birthday too!
Ogbene is wanted by newly promoted Sheffield Wednesday (Yorkshire Post, today).
Agreed - but I'm not hugely surprised. I think the view of him here changed a lot based on the French game, and while he played well in it for sure, before that you had people saying he was too inconsistent to really be in our starting line-up (and he was being left out)
Wednesday probably have more chance of launching a promotion push than Rotherham, but talk of the Bundesliga (as earlier in the thread) was always a bit ambitious I think.
But we'll see - it's just a rumour for now.
Was linked with Ipswich as well. Apparently they have a bit of cash to spend this summer and they have a decent manager if he sticks around, so they might be competitive next season.
Luton Town mentioned as a team that are interested too.

He has signed for Luton. Perfect move for him really. Great opportunity to see if he can play at Premiership level and you'd you expect he'll get plenty of game time. Delighted with this move
Yeah, have to be happy with that. I expect Luton will struggle but as you say it gives him the chance to see if he's up to it. I think he may need to be more consistent at impacting games (compared to Ireland when, let's be honest, there wasn't too much uproar when he was dropped for a while last year)
But best of luck with it obviously!
Amazing move and he will play
Great for him and also great for Ireland to have another premier league player
Cracking move for the lad and his style will fit in well at Luton. They're a tight knit team so will have to work hard to get his chance and keep his place but no better lad as he's got a serious work ethic and determination to succeed.
Even if Luton get relegated he'll still be playing with a championship team better than those he was linked with this summer. Could also impress enough at PL level to build interest from other teams if Luton get relegated.
Great move for him ,with Dara O'Shea joining Burnley and Josh Cullen moving up a league with them aswell hopefully it'll be positive for us......
great move, i still dont see him as being good enough as an out and out 9. not strong enough with his back to goal. luton will likely be playing on the counter/not have lots of the ball all season anyway so i could well be masked. hopefully its something they can work on with him
Delighted for him! Deserves a chance to play at Premiership level and show what he can do. The France game showed what he is capable of in both defence and attack when up against top, top players.
Pleasantly surprised with both of the premier league transfers earned by the lads this early in the window.
There was quite a lot of rumors of where he was heading and a lot of them seemed underwhelming but he's really got himself a great move.
Will be interesting to see how Luton fair in the EPL as its a fairytale for them.
Really hope himself and O Shea can get into their teams now.
Luton, Ogbene cynics miss the point as dreaming Hatters won’t be corrupted by Prem money-bags

As good as Ogbene has been for Rotherham, we have perhaps seen the best of him in a Republic of Ireland jersey. Five goal involvements in 15 caps is a great return for Ireland’s first African-born international, but it is even more impressive that his best performances came against Portugal, Belgium and France. Ogbene performs at a higher level against tougher opposition and this sets him up superbly for life in the Premier League.
Starts the season on Luton's bench today. Bit disappointed by that tbh. But will see how the next few games go anyway
He did a few nice things after coming on. I’d say he’s going to be an important player for them overall.
My brother and I were chatting and think that we cannot recall any other Limerick player who went on to play PL or top flight football in England. Amazing progress really, and if I'm honest, I don't think he's technically the most talented player, so his professionalism must be top notch.
You go through their wiki page and list of notable players and you're going back to the 40s to find most.
You've got a Tom Aherne who played with Limerick United between 37-46 and ended up at Luton Town between 49-57 playing division one football in his final two seasons for them before retiring through injury.
Johnny Gavin played with Limerick for one season in 47 before joining Norwich and is actually still their record goal scorer with a 132 goals in 338 matches. Also played with Spurs, another stint at Norwich, Watford, and Crystal Palace between 48-61. Think his one season at Spurs was in Division One.
Davy Walsh started his senior career with Limerick in 42 for one season before joining Linfield. Spent a couple of seasons their before joining West Brom where he played Division One football. Also played Division One football for Villa.
While Eamon Deacy didn't start his senior career with Limerick he played with them for a season before joining Galway Rovers for a season and then joining Aston Villa. Won the First Division with Villa
Obligatory Sam Allardyce mention too, though again not an answer to the exact question posed by osarusan
Anthony Forde too, although again not exactly the question asked
John McGrath got it back to front in that he got games for Villa in Premiership and subsequently played for Limerick but he is actually from Limerick.
