Money taken this morning. Ole Ole!
Well, you can't really have any complaints I guess. However, you can already see that lots of spares are already appearing for the Sweden and Italy games (admittedly most people are looking for swaps for the Belgium game at this stage but is shows you those two games have surplus tickets and some will end up getting passed on to fellow fans at hopefully face value - here and ybig will be best place for face value tickets).
Also the general portal will open in March and plenty of tickets that were purchased in the first phase last year for our games (when people didn't actually know who would be playing in those games) will go up on there. Loads of time until June and I think there are still lots of chances to get face value tickets for at least Sweden and Italy, possibly less so for the Belgium game but its still possible.
And by all means send an email off to the FAI, it wont hurt your chances, depends how they prioritise the requests (of which there will be many).
Good luck!
Feckit and I've just had the V dub resprayed.
I know they're probably swamped with emails but do we know if there's any timeline on the FAI selecting the most deserving applicants?
I read yesterday that UEFA can still allocate tickets to fans up until the end of February and so the FAI will wait until then until they start their own process. There is no point in the FAI allocating tickets from what they held back now only for UEFA to give some of those same fans tickets by the end of February. I think there is a statement on the FAI homepage
Plan B!

Thanks for the tips. I think the re-sale portal is my next hope, after that it's probably DoneDeal etc. I'm looking for a Belgium ticket so it's that bit more difficult. Does anybody know the craic with the security etc.?
I thought after the attacks in Paris in November they were going to be insanely security conscious with tickets/passports etc.
I would send an email to the FAI as well. They still have 2k tickets per match to distribute, Its probably a slim chance they would allocate them to you if you have no recent history of match attendance but you've got to be in it to win it as they say. FAI are not exactly renowned for 'logic' when it comes to ticket distribution!
What area of Paris is best to stay in?
Factors are:
(a) convenience for Gare du Nord (I arrive and return by Eurostar)
(b) convenient for public transport to Stade de France
(c) central, for the craic like.
I'm thinking Opera?
The FAI appeals process is expected to last 2-3 weeks after the closing date i.e. last Wednesday.
There doesn't seem to be any specific date in March for the UEFA Resale Portal opening?
was wondering the same.

Ticketing
From 12:00CET on 9 March 2016, all fans who were allocated tickets in the general public application windows will be able to resell their tickets. All fans will be able to buy the tickets on a first come, first served basis.
Good stuff, thanks.
Euro 2016: Terror threat could see games behind closed doors
100 days to kick off!
just a general tip - anyone who signs up for AirBnb gets a discount through their recommend a friend scheme, so if there's a few of you booking a place, let one person book the first room, send an invite to the next, they book and get a discount, send an invite, get a discount, etc
having spent half the day on the resale portal i finally picked up 1 cat 1 ticket for the italy game.
The flag thing in general is gone nuts, at least that Grealish one is kind of funny if you just forget about the cringing fact that we're still banging on about him. You just know the person that put it together hadn't even heard of Grealish until the F.A. Cup semi final last year as well.
Some of the other ones are beyond brutal, talk about trying too hard. Father Ted quotes recycled ten thousand times over, quirky Irish sayings, references to Pennys or the dole, etc.
The worst I've seen is this though (I'm actually squirming with embarrassment here)...

I probably can't complain too much. This is my flag

I'm just hoping enough people get the reference
We've a flag that we bring to away matches generally, the 'Northmen Southmen, Comrades All' one.
We're not bringing it to the Euros though. There'll be very, very limited space for them. You won't be allowed to hang it over advertising, which grounds will be plastered in. There was barely room for the flag in Poland, there'll be none in France. So feck it.
Anybody going to Turkey vs Croatia? Managed to pick up tickets on the portal on Friday.
That's right out of my range. It's that and noodles everyday in Paris otherwise.
Yeah I was lucky enough to get a couple of Cat.4's for the Romania v Switzerland game but I don't think I would have paid any more than that really. I'd pay whatever for the Ireland games and would have accepted a Cat.1 for England v Wales too but other than that I wouldn't break the bank for any other games. Croatia v Turkey is quite an attractive fixture though I think but we don't arrive until after it kicks off.
I thought I was the only one. In Poland they weren't as ten a penny as they are now. All it is is lads wanting to have the next "Angela thinks we're working".
Some have been funny, but there are some awfully naff ones that are rather crass.
Most of them are terribly stupid, but there have been a few crackers.
there's a twitter account listing some of the worst examples: https://twitter.com/badeurosflags
SOme of the GAWA ones are shocking.
The Richie Sadlier one is kinda great.

Honestly, I'm one of the cranky sods who thinks that writing ANYTHING on a flag is heresy of the worst kind. Some are funny (some are very funny) but, in the same way that I wouldn't be cracking jokes in the middle of a funeral service, I wouldn't be emblazoning them on the national flag either. People do, and best of luck to them, but it makes me cringe.
And don't get me started on selling the jersey with a sponsor on the front. :p
here's hoping for more of this over the next few weeks...

The Richie Sadlier one made me laugh, but the FAI should confiscate the tickets of whoever made this.

I've noticed a lot of them have the Euro 2016 logo. Is there a reason for having it on the flag?
Hate those flags too, but couldn't help have a laugh at this one -

Finally back to the land of the loving. Much fun. Very fun.
Lots of Irish fans have suffered at the hands of the Bordeaux tram system on Saturday with hundreds arriving late, some very late.
Has anyone scoped out transport for tomorrow in Lille, in context of being able to watch the Group F games beforehand? Is there anywhere near the stadium?
It sounded (and looked) like Irish fans were vastly outnumbered in the ground in Bordeaux (on tv pictures I mean). Was that case, or were there fans late arriving into the ground?
