I suppose if he was German they would get up early and leave him on the bench.
A lot of competition in that midfield. Hopefully the loss of momentum won't be too costly and he'll be more of a presence for Brighton over the next few weeks and months than he was during the second half of last season.Quote:
Richie started pre-season very well and it’s a little bit of a precaution as he felt his knee a little bit but hopefully he’ll be available very soon.
Brighton signing Alex Pritchard.
It's pretty safe to say Richie is never going to get an honest look in at Brighton.
Heard from Andy Naylor who writes for The Argus that his latest injury was caused by overtraining.
Norwich have hijacked the deal for Pritchard BTW.
Brighton have signed Oliver Norwood now, another midfielder to compete with for a first team spot
Anyone know whats going on with Towell at the moment?
Hasn't had a look in at the start of the season yet. Is he injured? Any chance of a loan move for him before the window ends?
With Dundalk having a European campaign ahead could they sneak him back on loan?
yeah, picked up a knee injury in pre season.
Another two weeks recuperation before he can return to training.
Needs to play some ball soon after that, a loan job I suppose more likely than getting in that side presently anyway.
Chris Hughton: "[Towell] will be out for a long period of time now."
It's an awkward quote but looks like he means Rosenior, not Towell:
"He would be the only doubt if I`m looking at the squad, because we know about Richie Towell, and Liam Rosenior, who will be out for a long period of time now."
It may have come as news to Richie to realise that he had actually been 'in' for any period of time recently.
Minor update from Brighton on his situation: https://twitter.com/OfficialBHAFC/st...86973672845312
Maybe Richie has been told to operate their Twitter account given that he's doing sod all else.
Poor Richie is probably watching Dundalk at the minute thinking to himself "what have I done?".
Or thinking, there's another side I couldn't get in.
Looks like Brighton are washing their hands with Towell.

looks like they want to send him on loan to get playing time and then assess him
Quote:
"We are hopeful there is no reaction once he is back in training. He hasn't trained with the team - he is outside now doing his rehab - but at the moment he's had no reaction. "First and foremost it's about him getting back fit, getting back into the squad and given us an opportunity to see him again, and then assess it in January.
"He is definitely a player we like. He's been great around the place but, of course, he hasn't had the games. It's one we will have to think about."
He'll be back at Dundalk for the next round of the Europa League.

Kazenga LuaLua and Richie Towell are both on their way back, they’ll be involved in the under-23 game on Saturday and hopefully again on Tuesday
Starts for under-23s. Half an hour gone vs Leicester.
Was taken off at half time for Lua Lua who went and scored ten minutes later. Match abandoned midway into the second half due to a serious injury to a Leicester player.
Starting again tonight for Brighton u23's in the Checkatrade Trophy
Scored to put Brighton 1-0 up after 18 minutes.
goal on youtube, aroudn the 54 second mark
Nice purposeful break from midfield to create the original chance with a smart pass to the striker. And lovely finish.
Best bit was the defender splitting the post. Ouch...
Nice goal, bit unusually with him just standing there and picking and finding his spot.
Towell admits that overexuberance led to injuries: http://www.theargus.co.uk/sport/1488...Albion_impact/
game against Villa tonight came a little too early for him, according to the build up on Brighton's site.
Towell scores the winner in another Brighton u-23 comeback game

The trouble is that Brighton are on a roll and I think it will be very hard to break in to the side. A loan out to lower ranking team might be better for him.
Towell seems to on a roll.
