That CityRebels blood pressure when reading Stu's posts?

I'm surprised nobody has asked CityRebel if he was at the game yet. Although I guess you could probably just correctly assume he wasn't.
Bohs v Rovrs tonight in the semi.If Crolly had hung on would have strongly fancied Bohs to win handy.Draw, extra time and penos looks a good bet.
5-0 to Dundalk v Wexford Youths....mix of fringe players and young lads for us...totally different xi to cork game....another cup final to look forward to.....dare we dream of a treble?????
Some lovely goals for us, Wardy's chip from the edge of the box and McMillan's piledriver.
Some nice play by Wexford but the chasm between the teams was massive.
League Cup final will be on the 20th of September between Dundalk and Shamrock Rovers at a venue yet to be decided.
Think it's been Tallaght every time Rovers have been involved in an EA/Setanta final so I don't expect that to change. The league should probably just drop the pretence though and just say that Tallaght is the preferred venue in all cases.
There's not really anywhere else in any way suitable for the game though is there? No point in sending both teams to Turners Cross or Terryland.
I don't have an issue with a final being held in tallaght as it is a good venue for a final, just when rovers are participating that's when it would be great to have a different option but I know there isn't really.. wouldn't expect either team be made travel down here or over to the west for it so there's no alternative really
If Tolka or Dalymount were viable stadiums I have no doubt they'd be held there, but unfortunately their owners have allowed them to be run into the ground.
It's not the fault of Shamrock Rovers that Tallaght is the only decent club stadium left in Dublin. However, Oriel Park should be big enough for the final if we win the toss.
Its looking like it might be a toss of the coin to decide the venue. Oriel Park was fine to host two rounds of Europe, should be fine for a Lge Cup Final. It would make a nice change for Rovers having to travel for a cup final, be a nice day out for them!
Tallaght is the only choice.
The other stadiums in Dublin are a disaster.
I suppose if Dundalk win the toss it could be held there.
I like a conspiracy theory as much as the next man but there's never been a pretence around Setanta finals, the venue has been dictated (fairly or unfairly, but transparently) by the cup committee. Rovers have played in one League Cup final in recent history and that was indeed in Tallaght but that's hardly evidence that it'll be a fixed draw. Ferrycarrig held it very recently it was even in Mels and Jackman in the recent past!
When's the last time the League Cup final was held at a neutral venue? (and no comments about Tallaght not being owned by Shams....)
The first few were neutral ground (usually in Dublin but Bohs v Finn Harps in 1975/76 was played in Oriel). The final was 2 legs then for a period in the mid 80s and then home/away. Back to 2 legs in mid 90s until 2001/02. From 2003 has been back to a team at home
In the 11 finals since there's been 5 home wins and 6 away wins
Personally, I think CCS in Longford is starting to slowly go the way of Tolka. Behind the nets opposite the car park is closed and in awful condition. The open nature of the ground means being exposed to the elements doesn't help the others end and section o side. Seats are worn and looking poor. The main stand is still fine though. Reckon with a bit of care, it'd run Turner Cross hard for finest ground in the league, but needs work certainly. Unfortunately, has the feel of an unfinished stadium.
That's not fair, Nigel. The toilets at CCS might be stone age but they're not Tolka-level.
Was up getting my ticket for Drogheda on Friday (Yes we are only getting 600 tickets! JOKE!) but was informed that chairman Skinny Bond has been informed a coin toss will take place this week with the final in either Tallaght or Orie
If its in Oriel, Rovers will only get the away section and the usual allocation of stand tickets
League cup final really isn't that big a deal so doubt they'd need more.
There's not much you could do with Oriel to make it more "neutral" anyway. That's one big advantage Tallaght has (pver everywhere) for Setanta finals etc
I cant see there being a demand for more than 1k tickets from home fans for Drogs v DLk on Fri, so I'd expect 400 more will be made available.
On the LC Final, a toss of the coin is the fairest outcome, going to be a challenge with accommodating Rovers fans in the stand, unless they section off an entire panel, but would there really be more of a demand than 500 or 600 to travel up for a Lge cup final?
EDIT on Fri v Drogs, 600 is prob the limit now for H+S that they can offer to any away side, but pretty sure we took close to 1k on opening day of the season. I was there and it was biggest I recall on any DLK visit.
If the final is to be in Oriel Park, the split will be 50/50.
which could mean the away section and the entire stand for Rovers fans( i dont know the capacity so thats a bit of guesswork)
anyway it will be in Tallaght anyway. its bound to be
I don't see how they could justify anything other than 50/50 no matter where it is, with any excess going on general sale.
Yeh I have a feeling when they sell out tomorrow when they are on general sale they might release some more, prob want everyone having tickets before they get to the ground so 1/2 the away crowd dont miss the start (which always happens anyway as it takes forever to get into the ground when their is a large away following)
I can't think of any reason why the "home" team would get their usual allocation other than the travelling team not requesting their full compliment.
I don't know how many Rovers would bring, to be honest, as we've never been to a cup final away from Dublin that I can think of. With Croly gone, I think there'll be a buzz around the club and I don't see any reason why there wouldn't be at least as many as travelled up for the league game.
Good point that Charlie on Rovers cup finals, actually would this be the first non Dublin venue cup final if it was in Oriel Pk?
No, just off the top of my head, Harps League Cup Final v Bohs in the mid-70's was played in Oriel Park. Harps played a League Cup Final v Waterford in 1985 in Waterford too. There have been League Cup Finals played in Longford, Wexford, Waterford, Derry, Sligo and Cork in the last 10 years alone - some of them involving Dublin teams too.
In the FAI Cup, the 1973 replay between Cork Hibs and Shels was played in Flower Lodge.
1987-88 LC Final, City v Shams was at The Cross.
1-0 City
