Strong rumours of Ken Oman signing for the Champions, Mark Quigley linked with us as well.
Gary Rogers, Gavin Peers, Jeff Henderson, Seamus Conneely re-signed. Delighted with the first three - three players who are among the best in their positions in the league - and Conneely's a useful squad player who might just have a bit more to him.
Mark Rossiter has signed for next season with Dundalk.
Shams looking to sign Luke Byrne to add to their collection of ex Bohs left backs. Poor career option for him if he signs.
Fenlon has left Hibs. Could be tempted with a move back home?
Caulfield just appointed to Cork im told.
Nutsy to Rovers??
Pat Sullivan back to Cork apparently.
Conor Kenna linked to Rovers, this rumour goes around every year, seems to be at its strongest this year.
It would show a lack of ambition on Conors part to go from the Champions to a mid table side who's biggest focus is the league cup.
Sean Gannon signed for us from Pats today
Ross Gaynor of Sligo expected to sign for Dundalk aswell
Rovers need a bit of a clear out in my opinion so can see a lot of their players heading out the door.
Simon Madden to Rovers done.
Town's Josh O'Hanlon is on trial at Peterborough this week. I believe he has a trial lined up at Wolves too.
Terrific for Pats if they're going full time, but hard to see how they can afford it unless Kelleher's found another couple of million down the back of a sofa.
I'd imagine they're mostly on full time wages as it is. A player can live easily enough on 400-500 a week. A squad of 18 players on 500 a week is only 9,000, which even by League of Ireland standards isn't absolutely out of this world. Large European income as well as the title winning money should see them do it comfortably enough for one season at least on a trial basis. As long as they don't go offering silly contracts of 2 and 3 years then it's a good move in my view for the League champions to have a real go at Europe.
I think they'd need to maintain success and a good attendance everyweek for the next couple of years before they give professional football a go. It'd be a nice idea but as mentioned earlier, can't see Kelleher stumping up the money
400-500 might be grand for people to live on, and a lot do, but there's a reason why a lot of players in the league prefer the part-time set up. Once lads get into their mid 20s and start having families, it doesn't sound like such a great lifestyle anymore.
Some of your crowd have a real hard-on for O'Hanlon. Never really got into the game when I saw him.
400-500 a week into a player's hand is almost double that by the time all tax, PRSI etc is paid.
Yeah Josh has had some excellent games for us considering his age. Peterborough have watched him several times and there's been other clubs linked too. He's understandably raw but he's got a lot going for him, pace, strength, aerial ability, good shot on him. Lacks a bit of composure at the moment but you'd imagine that'll come with experience.
we need to discover a few more like josh
Shaun Kelly signs for next season with Limerick.
Rumours hotting up now. Heard Conor Meade back to Cobh. Could be possible
We are close enough to full time as it is, we train during the day and only 1 or 2 of our players work outside of football. I'd say our budget is at 9 or 10,000 a week, apparently we are very strict when it comes to our wage structure and budget and this wont change for anyone.
No it isn't. Nor is it anything close.
The 40% tax band doesn't kick in till over €32k (€615 pw in 52 wk year but €888 in 36 wk yr). Therefore they would be taxed at 20%.
Even adding in the USC and prsi contributions and deducting tax credits you are talking about €500 gross to net €400.

€800 indeed to net €400. Your boss must be giving you a tub of Vaseline instead of a wage slip.
