Most underrated Irish player in a long time. Deserves a big contract
2nd yellow and sent off in another one v one situation. I think theres been enough incidents of to show playing the high line with Egan and Duffy as the two CBs is a dangerous game for us.
best player on the pitch, Egan plays with panache. Has a few twists and runs as Franco Baresi, this fellow should be playing for Everton or Tottenham at least.
Connolly looks classy, and Stevens is doing well. as a left attacking wingback McGoldrick hot and cold but almost scores with a clever freekick
freaky ankle injury, saved a goal though!!!!
looked nasty. i'd suspect a break
Dont know, but he blocked a certain goal with his right foot in the air, but the shot was so powerful that it moved his foot and that movement twisted his ankle, didnt seem a broke bone
turns out it was a dislocated toe, rules him out for 8 weeks in the end. real blow for us and for sheffield united
will be fine, one week gone already. A good hiatus until the Serbia showdown. Will be ready in 3 weeks
In what world is three more than eight?
he should be fine mark my words, it is a minor injury, toe is not broken, the ball from that english fellow hit his foot in the middle, the game was already lost, let Lingaard score , I blame his professionalism, which is bad, because he has a few movement like Baresi, should be playing for Liverpool or Everton or even Leeds or the Wolves next season. Best blades player so far
dont try to entertain you guys, a dislocated toe, dislocated not a broken bone, not the ankle, or could have been his knee with that movement his foot did. Should be fine, painful, yes but its a quick recovery
There'll be significant ligament damage, I should think.
It'll be many weeks before Egan's back in action I fear. He'll be a big miss.
Clark-Egan in doubt, but Clark-O'Shea very acceptable. Best would be O'Shea-Egan-Clark in 3-5-2. But Kenny will play Duffy, nothing surer - and it'll be the difference between 0-0 and Serbia winning 3-0.
I thought that too Grafter. He’s probably our best ball playing defender available. That said, would there be any appetite to have Keogh in there ahead of O’Shea? I’d suggest not. Probably worth a recall for Keogh to squad though. He’s made a remarkable recovery really.
Can't agree with that. We have three EPL regulars - Clark, Egan and O'Shea - and Long who gets regular call-ups. At C'ship level there's the promising Nathan Collins and long-time Championship regular Darragh Lenihan.
Keogh is 34, just back after a very serious injury, was never EPL standard and is stained by discipline issues. No doubting his commitment, but there's no reason whatsoever to bring him back.
I took the discussion in a more general sense. Nevertheless, for me that leaves four players (O'Shea, Clark, Long, Lenihan and possibly Doherty) ahead of Keogh for a CB spot. I'm delighted that Richard is back after a traumatic period in his life - but, again in my opinion, he's bottom of the list.
it's a short list, and there's a lot of the names ahead of him unavailable for the three games in March
Yeah, no one (or almost no one) is arguing that he should drop straight into the team, but between current injuries and all the covid-related messing last time out, we can't afford to turn our nose up at squad depth. Keogh's been playing again long enough to dismiss concerns around his injury. He's good cover for us.
I've a feeling kenny will play Duffy regardless of form
West Ham reported to have sent scouts to be watch John Egan last week; the Hammers supposedly considering a move for Egan during the summer, as Agbonna is turning 34 soon, Diop's future is uncertain and Craig Dawson will be entering the final year of his contract. (www.thehardtackle.com 13 March.
The hard tackle carried a potential deadline day West Ham bid for Egan too in January.
With promotion already secured, Egan gets a place on the bench today (v Preston NE).
Not watching but…he must be having a tough day at the office today - currently 6-0 down at home to Newcastle, 15 mins still to go…
Make that 7…
